The Goshorns Step by Step

July 2016
A FULL HOUSE
This month we were blessed to have Matthew,
Brian and Michael with us. They helped with the everyday
things like going to the market, cooking for the programs,
hauling supplies to the kids programs, clean up and so
much more. We also started the demolition of the building
where the team would be constructing a building for one of
our kids programs. We were just a little spoiled:)
The middle of the month we traveled to Lima to
pick up the team from Asbury. They were quite tired when
we arrived in Huancayo, but they were ready to get started.
We had some snags at the beginning and construction was
delayed one day but, the Lord knows best. That day the
team was able to experience a little of our everyday life.
They not only constructed a building for our feeding
program but also conducted three kids clubs at one of the
local churches along with three nights of North American/
Peruvian testimonies for the adults. They also gave the
message at two local churches. We are so glad this team
came.

The

students at the University and more. We are also

preparing for another team at the end of the month
from Crestwood Kentucky.
We are asking for prayers for Matthew. He has
had pain in his knee for awhile so we traveled to Lima
for a MRI. It showed a small break in the center of his
femur at the knee. This has been there apparently for
years and is wearing away cartilage. We might have the
orthoscopic surgery done here in Peru before he
returns to the states. Daniel has also been experiencing
severe headaches on a daily basis. Please keep them
and us in your prayers. Its very hard being parents
from so far away.

The house has become a little tranquil since they left, but
we still have Matthew here which makes up for a lot:) Our
friend Louise who retired a couple months ago from

The Children Encourage Us

Cecily is a ten year old at one of our feeding programs. This is the program we started because a
little boy died from complications due to malnutrition. We noticed, on the very first day of the program
that Cecily wouldnt take any food until she was sure all the other kids had food. This has continued each
week. She also makes sure that when it is time to leave, all the balls, frisbees and other toys are returned.
We had a program the other day with 104
children and Cecily quickly checked that all
the kids were fed. When we finished, one of
the dads took down our table and before he
could ask us where to put it, Cecily quickly
ran to him and said he needed to put the
table in the truck. We could tell she was
concerned he was going to walk off with it.
This little girl has seen things that no one
should have to see and yet she puts all the
other children first.
Mark 9:35 Sitting down, Jesus called the
Twelve and said, Anyone who wants to be
first must be the very last, and the servant of
all.
What would this world be like if we all behaved
as Cecily? She seems to want to make sure that
nothing happens to another child on her watch.
Cecily has such a understanding of Christ, and
how to treat others. She encourages me and I
wonder who is learning from who.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in love.

Honor one another above yourselves.
Scripture says unless you become as a little child
you shall not enter into the kingdom of God. A
child believes, a child trust, a child is sincere in
their ways of thinking.

Matthew 18:2-4 He called a little child to him,

and placed the child among them. And he said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little
children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this
child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
