Program Completion Next Steps

Program completion:
o Course work completed AND
o Clinical log binders for 500 practicum hours approved by FNP Program Director (Previous
Curriculum) OR
o Typhon practicum hours and SOAP notes approved for 720 practicum hours by NRSG 665
Practicum Faculty (new curriculum).
Request transcript from Registrars Office. Go to Olivet.edu/Registrar, then go to Transcript Requests to
find the request form.
Transcripts will be mailed to the AANC within 7-10 days (allow time for processing and mailing time).
Degrees are conferred in January-May-August. Diplomas are mailed to the student. Commencement
Exercises (Graduation) is only in May. This applies only to MSN-FNP students not FNP-Certificate
students, who already have an MSN.
You may start to fill out the AANC application (nursecredentialing.org>Certification>Choose your
Certification>Family NP>Validation of Education Form). AANC will not accept your application if you
have not completed the program (course work + practicum).
Student is to complete entire AANC form leaving blank 3 areas (1) Program Completion Date, (2)
CCNE Expiration Date and, (3) Statement of Understanding. The forms needs to be typed.
When the FNP Program Director approves and signs the form, the form will be sent back to the student
electronically. It is the responsibility of the student to either mail (by Certified Mail) the application or
e-mail the form for confirmation. This is not the responsibility of the FNP Program Director.

Once you receive a certification letter from AANC that you passed, then you may apply for your IL
APN license (idfpr.com) ($125). Congratulations! Let us know the good news!
Once you receive your IL APN license and have your Collaborating Physician then you can apply for
your Controlled Substance (CS) License (idfpr.com) ($5). After you have received you CS license, then
you can apply for your Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license (deadiversion.usdoj.gov) ($731).
Obtain your own Malpractice Insurance (nso.com), in addition to your employers insurance.

Join isapn.org ($100 for student), register for their Boot Camp to equip you with you APN Scope of
Practice, credentialing, how to negotiate, billing and coding, and more.
When you land your 1st FNP job, they will help you get your National Provider Identification (NPI) and
begin the credentialing process (can take up to 3 months).
Know the IL Nurse Practice Act/APN Scope of Practice (ilga.gov).
