Aviation School Division REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY AS PILOT TRAINEE & NICE TO KNOW ITEMS
1. Must not be more than 30 years of age on the start of training,
2. Graduate of a four year college course leading to a Bachelor’s Degree with good scholastic standing, (max of 5 failures) 3. Must be physically fit (pass all PAL medical requirements), 4. At least 5’ 4” in height, 5. Ab-initio (pilot trainee) applicants must submit photo/xerox copies of the following documents to the Office of the Manager-Aviation School located at PAL Learning Center, 540 Padre Faura cor. Adriatico st. Ermita, Manila: • Birth certificate, • College diploma, Note; if college diploma is not available (still at CHED or in process), applicant must secure a certification from the School or University where he/she has attended his/her college education attesting that said applicant is a graduate of such a degree and that his/her diploma is still in process or still at CHED, • Transcript of records – if applicant could not immediately submit his/her transcript of record a certification from the School or University could “initially” serve the purpose. • Resume (kindly attach recent 2x2 photo with red background). 6. Qualified Ab-initio applicants (applicants who have passed all the requirements; medical, etc) will be required to submit the following documents before the start of classes: • NBI clearance, • PNP clearance / Crame • Barangay or Municipal clearance, and • To comply with the requirements listed in item #5 above. Failure to comply shall disqualify the applicant/candidate for Ab- initio Training. 7. Breakdown of Ab-initio training curriculum that would qualify a trainee upon graduation for a Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating: • Private Pilot Training Course: i. Ground Training - 145 classroom training hours, ii. Simulator, Basic Instrument Flying Procedure – 10 hours, and iii. Flight Training – 53+30 hours. • Commercial Pilot Training Course (with Instrument Rating): i. Ground Training – 123 classroom training hours, ii. Simulator, Advanced Instrument Flying Procedure – 20 hours, and iii. Flight Training – 163+30 hours 8. Upon graduation, a trainee will have logged 217+00 flight hours to his credit. 9. Training venue and frequency per week: • Ground/classroom Training) – PAL Learning Center, 540 Padre Faura cor. Adriatico, Ermita, Manila; Monday through Friday from 0800H to 1700H. • Simulator Training – Room 219, PAL Learning Center, 540 Padre Faura cor. Adriatico st. Ermita, Manila. Monday through Friday; simulator schedule depends on the availability of the simulator, and • Flight Training – OMNI Aviation Corporation, Clark International Airport, Angeles City, Pampanga; Flight training is Monday to noontime of Saturday. Flight sorties normally starts at 0600H to 1800H (Mon. to Fri.) & 0600H to 1200H every Saturday. During summer, flight training starts a bit earlier, at 0530H in the morning or as soon as VFR is opened. 10. Student accommodation at OMNI is “barracks style” – two trainees in a room; accommodation is on the account of the student. 11. Pilot trainees go home for the weekend break at 1200H every Saturday and are required to be back to quarters Sunday evening on or before 2200H (curfew) in preparation for the next day’s training activities. 12. Cost of uniform, paraphernalia, books, and maps is on the account of student. 13. Training duration is 16 to 18 months (depending on the weather). 14. Mode of payment – “four equal payments”; first payment is due upon signing of Training Agreement. Actual costs of ATO operating charges (take-off and landing fee) are computed upon graduation. 15. Additional training cost – ATO operating charges, take-off and landing fee shall be computed (charge to the account of trainee/student) upon graduation. 16. Before the start of training, successful pilot trainee applicants are given a tour of the facilities (PLC, OMNI Aviation Complex and Clark International Airport).
