JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:

Full-time Technician (Hair and Beauty)

Salary:

Point 13 17 (Non Teaching)

Location:

The post holder will normally be located at Tower Road


but as a term of employment may be required to work
at any site from which the College is offering or
providing services.

Head of Health, Care & Salon Services

Responsible for:

Job Purpose:

To provide support Hair and Beauty Salons, staff and


students

Liaison with:

All College staff, students and suppliers

Specific Duties:
1. Be responsible for preparing relevant orders for the Division and to receive,
unpack and store retail and consumable stock
2. Liaise with outside agencies and manufacturer representatives for the
maintenance and servicing of equipment and for securing benefits
when placing orders.
3. Maintain records of all equipment with details of location
4. Respond to requests for assistance from staff and student for products and
equipment as necessary.
5. Ensure appropriate conditions

6. Provide support for lecturers in the preparation and cleaning of practical


experiments and demonstrations.
7. Maintain stationary stock control and supplies according to written requests.
8. Support reception cover when needed.
9. Set up and implement processes/procedures for Salon management
/maintenance.
10. Support compliance with health and safety, hygiene policies and codes of
practice.

11. Control and monitor usage of materials/resource allocation to staff and


students.
12. Regular maintenance and cleaning of equipment and reporting misuse.
13. Maintaining laundry area.
14. Ensure safe storage and labelling of products/equipment and cupboards,
Person Specification:
Essential:
Have a flexible approach to work
Be able to work without direct supervision
Level II Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent.
Experience of maintaining records of stock orders and deliveries.
Desirable:
A1 assessors award or equivalent and experience of working in a salon
or hair and beauty salon.
General duties:
The postholder will be required to undertake other duties as directed by the principal
(or his/her delegated representative) appropriate to the administration of the College
and within the abilities of the postholder. Additional evening duties may be required
from time to time.
General:
All duties must be carried out to comply with:
1. Health & Safety at work Act
2. Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments and Regulations and other legal
requirements
3. Nationally agreed Codes of Practice which are relevant.
All duties will be carried out in the working condition normally inherent in the
particular job.
