FREEHOLD BOROUGH - New town rules regulating Downtown Freeholds finances and governance
prompted four members of a nonprofit group managing
the district to resign this month and delayed the start of
Freehold Idol.
The Freehold Center Management Corporation has
been managing Downtown Freehold, since 1992. The
nonprofit is known to the community as Downtown
Freehold and was charged with boosting businesses in
the area, organizing concert series and events such as
Freehold Idol, the annual summer singing competition,
as well as putting up holiday decorations.
But on May 16, the Borough Council voted to clamp
down on the group requiring it to undergo a government-standard audit, conduct its board elections
through the clerks office and make the mayor and council liaison voting members on the groups board.

After Memorial Day weekend, parking at Jersey

Shore beach towns becomes a premium. An all-too-familiar site is drivers circling the blocks like seagulls
looking for a spot to open up.
While the musical chairs parking scenario may be familiar, parking regulations from town to town vary.
Charging for parking allows some beach towns to
cash in on this revenue source. Meters also keep the line
moving in towns with lots of beachfront businesses that
want a turnover on the parking spots.
But there are beach municipalities unswayed by the
lure of dollars that have kept their beach parking
streets free.
Others attempt to reduce the influx of beachgoers
with restrictive parking measures.

Perhaps all you need to know about Tyler Thompson

is what happened on Sept. 12, 2015.
It was the Ocean running backs first game back after he suffered a shattered left leg that ended his junior
season, and threw the heavily-recruited running backs
future into doubt. In that game, he ran for 175 yards,
scored three touchdowns and forced a fumble that the
Spartans recovered in the end zone.
Except that theres so much more, as the 5-11, 200pound running back prepares to head off to the University of Massachusetts to help the Minutemen as they
strengthen their football competition by stepping up to
the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) level.
