ts been 14 years in the making, but

the roll out of the Volvo XC90 SUV
was greeted with such acclaim that to list
the awards it has received would fill a page.
It was named the Best New Luxury SUV
by Car & Driver and Good Housekeeping
magazines and the SUV of the year by Motor Trend magazine, to name a few. Its all a
very nice affirmation that were doing good
work, said Russell Datz, Volvo national media relations manager. The vehicle was created from the ground up with a revolutionary
new design that serves as the basis for many
vehicles in its line, he said.

new universal design,

better vehicle for buyers
Its the first redesign of Volvos gamechanging SUV that was introduced in 2002,
Datz said. We started with a clean slate. The
car is based on an all-new architecture with
an all-new design, the power train, that is
moving the company into a new direction.
The universal design is not only helping the company better compete in the luxury class of vehicles, but it has also given
Volvo an advantage in that the vehicles can
start with the base and evolve into different
models. Were moving into the luxury line

to compete head-to head with BMW, Audi

and Mercedes, Datz said. Weve brought
on some of the worlds best designers to do
that. Engineers from Bentley and the Volkswagen group were brought on to develop
the new line.
With that universal platform and architecture it helps us use that platform for different
vehicles, he said. That then translates to the
consumer getting more car for the money.

four-cylinder gas mileage

with no loss in power

SANDIA BMW / MINI

6001 Pan American Frwy NE
Albuq., NM 87109
(505) 884-0066
SandiaBMW.com

The XC90, like all Volvos, runs off a

four-cylinder, but it by no means is un-

derpowered, Datz said. Improvements in

efficiency have the vehicle operating at a
high level while maintaining impressive
gas mileage.
Five years ago, when Volvo announced
it had moved toward an all four-cylinder
strategy in all of its cars, that raised a lot
of eyebrows at the time, Datz said. But
with things going the way they were with
emission in the U.S. and Europe, we saw
that as the only way to meet those regulations. Now, four-cylinder engines arent
what they used to be. The perception is
that theyre slow and wimpy. But theyre
actually more powerful than many standard vehicles.
The XC90 rocks a two-liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 316 horsepower
and is turbocharged and super-charged,
he said. You can still get up to 25 miles to
the gallon in the seven-passenger XC90,
Datz said. And it will go zero to 60 in
seven seconds. When the hybrid engine
is used, mileage skyrockets to more than
50 miles to the gallon.

highway robbery
Under a new marketing campaign called
Highway Robbery, the XC90 is shown being powered by gas, plug-ins and even other vehicles on the road. By using a custom
peristaltic pump placed over the roadway,
when vehicles drove over it, that generated
electricity to fuel the nearby charging station and the XC90 connected to it.

The all-new Volvo XC90 T8 proves

that great power can come from anywhere, from traditional engines to electric
motors, and beyond, said John Militello,
Director of Marketing, Volvo Car USA.
Highway Robbery is yet another way
we are able to showcase our thinking not
just about our cars, but how they can affect the world around them. Were posing
big questions as we seek out new, fresh
ways to enable the future of driving.
The XC90 also has an available safety
drive function that helps reduce accidents.
The optional system known as Pilot Assist
is a semi-autonomous drive function,
Datz said. Your car will manage road and
traffic issues, mainly stop-and-go traffic.
The company has been pursuing this and
it became one of the proponents of the
safety assistance, he said,
Were one of the leaders in that category, he said. We approach it as a
safety feature. The car can see dangerous situations before drivers can. It can
apply steering if necessary. It can apply
brakes if necessary.
In short, theres a reason the awards
have piled up for the XC90.
The Volvo XC90 Excellence is a fantastic expanded version of Volvos idea
of luxury. It brings together fantastic materials, uncompromising safety and performance into an amazing package, said
Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of
Volvo Car USA. This car exposes Volvo
to a new type of buyer.

The r-design features also abound

Older drivers must address mental, physical concerns

etting behind the wheel

and enjoying the freedom to travel is a luxury
few are anxious to abandon. But
there comes a time in nearly every
persons life when he or she must
take inventory of his or her driving and assess if that next joy ride
is a safe and smart decision.
Driving may help older adults
remain independent and mobile,
but the chance for a motor vehicle
accident increases as one ages. The
Insurance Institute for Highway

Safety says fatal crash rates per

mile traveled increase starting at
age 75 and increase notably after
age 80. This is largely due to increased susceptibility to injury and
medical complications among older drivers rather than an increased
tendency to get into crashes. Road
accidents tend to increase around a
persons 65th birthday.
Authorities in Canada require
physicians to warn patients if the
doctors have any concerns about
their patients ability to drive. Doc-

tors also must report these concerns. There are no such requirements in the United States, where
individual drivers and families
must use their own judgement to
decide if it is still safe for a particular person to be on the road.
Minor fender benders, traffic
citations, trouble remembering
directions or frequently visited
stores, may be early indications
that a driver is no longer at his or
her best behind the wheel. Some
experts say that families should

institute driving directives, much

in the way a person would spell
out medical desires or end-of-life
plans. This way, when the time
comes to assess driving ability, the conversation already has
been started.
There is no set age when a persons keys should be taken away,
as aging does not guarantee that
the drivers abilities will decline.
In fact, there are many things
people can do to prolong their
time on the road.

elling a vehicle may

seem easy, but unloading pre-owned vehicles
may take some time. While
sellers may already have
their eyes on the prize - a new
vehicle - the first step is selling their current vehicle at a
fair price, especially for those
sellers who need to finance
the purchase of their next vehicle with the proceeds they
earn when selling their current one.
Sellers must consider a host
of factors, including potential
market for the vehicle and
its potential sale price, before
putting their vehicles up for
sale. The accident history of a
vehicle is another important
factor to consider. Buyers are
understandably weary about
purchasing vehicles that have
been in an accident. Easily accessible vehicle history reports
can make it even more challenging to sell a used car, but
such reports dont make it impossible to unload pre-owned
vehicles.

be open and honest

martphones are a convenient tool that few people can now imagine living without.
Smartphone-toting moms and dads know they always have a camera on hand to take quick
snaps of their youngsters, while foodies rely on their smartphones to find nearby restaurants

or read reviews of eateries while out on the town. But drivers also can benefit from smartphones
thanks to the following apps.

waze

aaa mobile

Commuters who download Waze to their smartphones may

wonder how they ever navigated their daily treks to the office
without this useful app, which allows drivers to share real-time
traffic and road information with their fellow motorists. Drivers
can use Waze to save time and gas money and make their commutes less stressful. Drivers who use Waze can actively report accidents and find the least expensive gas prices posted by fellow
drivers in their community.

AAA members can use the AAA Mobile app to access AAA
services on their smartphones. Such services include trip planning, member discounts and roadside assistance. The app also
includes a mobile version of the motor clubs popular TripTik
Travel Planner, which makes it easy for smartphone users to find
club-approved hotels, restaurants and attractions. Drivers can
even create and share trip itineraries between their desktop and
mobile devices.

GasBuddy
While fuel prices dipped in late 2014 and stayed low into 2015,
todays drivers are still conditioned to find the most affordable gas
prices around. The GasBuddy app makes it easy to do just that, as
users can share gas prices in their community, which fellow drivers
can then peruse to find the most affordable filling stations along
their driving routes. Drivers can even enter their city, ZIP code or
postal code to find the cheapest gas in their vicinity.

insurance
Nearly every auto insurance provider now offers its own
mobile app to policy holders. Such apps may allow drivers to
pay their bills, view their insurance identification cards, peruse
their policies, arrange for roadside assistance and report claims
among other things. These apps put your auto insurance provider at your fingertips and can make it much easier to manage
your policy.

MileIQ

LifeSaver

Never forget to log your miles again. MileIQ automatically logs

your drives and calculates their value, saving the average customer
thousands per year not to mention countless hours spent logging
miles manually. MileIQ customers also benefit from an increase
in total miles logged due to the improved accuracy and always
on nature of the app. Drivers can easily organize trips and classify drives as business or personal. The app also allows drivers to
download mileage logs and reports, making it easier than ever to
keep track of your mileage.

Help yourself and others by limiting distractions while driving. This app remains quiet in the background of your phone
until it detects driving, then it locks your phone to block distractions while you drive. LifeSaver can be unlocked by passengers
in the vehicle or in case of emergency. The app is a great way
to get the whole family involved in ending distracted driving.
Parents can use this app to keep an eye on their teens distracted
driving behaviors, reward them for safe driving, and set up arrival alerts for peace of mind.

editors note: Do not use apps or phones while driving.

Hiding an accident is unethical and can haunt you

down the road. It is better to
be forthcoming about any accidents a vehicle might have
been in. If you have documentation of the accident, such as
photos and receipts for repairs,
make it available to prospective buyers. If you have certification from an auto body shop
or mechanic that the vehicle
is in perfectly good condition
and was repaired with quality,
manufacturer-supplied parts,
offer that information as well.
The more information you
provide and the more honest
and forthcoming you are, the
less it will seem like youre trying to hide major damage.

encourage a
vehicle inspection
Inform the buyer that you
have no qualms about him or
her taking the car to a mechanic and having it thoroughly
inspected. This will show your
confidence in the performance
of the vehicle.

consider a dealer
trade-in
Dealer trade-ins may not
earn you as much money than
you would get if you were
to sell the car privately, but
trade-ins tend to be simpler.
Dealerships have almost zero
emotional attachment to vehicles and likely wont be as
concerned as a private buyer
about an accident on record.
Some dealers farm out used
cars to auctions or salvage
yards. It may be worth it to
take the lower price and not
have the headache of unloading the car on your own.

be flexible on
pricing
The right price will help
prospective buyers overlook
minor blemishes or accidents.
When coupled with the truth,
the right price can entice buyers to seal the deal.
Auto accidents happen. But
while no one wants to get into
a fender-bender, such accidents should not prevent auto
owners from selling their vehicles in the future.

Mirror adjustments save dollars, lives

M

illions of motor vehicle accidents occur each year. While

the motor vehicle industry places
a great emphasis on safety, its ultimately
up to motorists to ensure their vehicle is as
safe as possible.
Mirrors are an often overlooked aspect
of safe driving. Properly adjusted rearview
and sideview mirrors improve visibility by
reducing blind spots, which in turn reduces
a drivers risk of being in an accident, especially on multi-lane highways where drivers
may be forced to keep tabs on fellow motorists on both sides of their vehicles. When adjusting mirrors, consider the following tips to
ensure your vehicle is as safe as possible.

adjust for optimal visibility

Ensure optimal visibility from the interior rearview mirror. A properly adjusted
rearview mirror allows drivers to see whats
alongside and behind them, improving road
awareness while reducing the risk of an accident. Most drivers know the rearview mirror should allow them to see out of the rear

window from the drivers seat. But its also

important to utilize the day/night switch
found on most rearview mirrors. Such a
switch isnt an unnecessary accessory, but
one that can reduce glare from cars behind
you at night. Just be sure to flip the switch
back to the daytime setting in the morning to
ensure maximum visibility.

make sure its secure

Firmly secure the rearview mirror. Unfortunately, rearview mirrors are not always
sturdy, as many vehicle manufacturers attach
the rearview mirror to the windshield with
a special button that is glued to the glass at
the factory. This glue can come undone when
drivers hit a pothole or just gradually weaken thanks to the ravages of heat, humidity or
cold weather.
When a rearview mirror comes unglued,
drivers often look to a quick, yet temporary,
solution like super glue or a high-strength
adhesive. Such quick fixes are ineffective
over the long haul, and drivers might find
themselves driving down the street without

Get routine vision and hearing
checks. These examinations will help

need to update their prescriptions.

get enough sleep

Lack of sleep can affect the body in
many ways, including reducing reaction time. Falling asleep while driving
can compromise the safety of drivers,
their passengers and fellow motorists.

Certain medications can make
you drowsy, so read the labels so you
know not to drive while taking them.
Speak with your doctor to see if there

are any substitutes that wont affect

your performance behind the wheel.

Enroll in a refresher course. Sign
up for a defensive driving course to
review your driving skills. Not only
may it make you safer on the road,
but it also may help reduce your insurance rates.

is safe to remain behind the wheel.

a rearview mirror. Permatex(R) Rearview

Mirror Adhesive was designed specifically
for motorists looking for a permanent fix
that ensures the rearview mirror will stay
attached to the windshield regardless of external factors like the weather or poor road
conditions. The adhesive employs a special
formula that can easily withstand changing
weather conditions and the thermal expansion that typically renders other glues and
adhesives useless.

sideview mirrors
Dont overlook sideview mirrors. A 1995
study from the Society of Automotive Engineers noted that, when positioned correctly,
sideview mirrors can help drivers see vehicles in their blind spots, eliminating a drivers need to glance over his or her shoulder
when changing lanes.
When adjusting the drivers side mirror,
place the side of your head against the window, then adjust the mirror until the side of
your vehicle comes into view. To adjust the
passengers side mirror, sit in the drivers

seat, and then lean to the right so that your

head is in the cars centerline. Adjust the mirror until the side of your vehicle comes into
view.

use all mirrors while

driving
Once your mirrors have been adjusted
and the rearview mirror is firmly secure,
dont forget to use each of these mirrors
when driving. Many drivers rely solely on
their rearview mirrors to back up and change
lanes on the highway. However, if all of your
mirrors are aligned correctly, you should be
able to see a vehicle leave the rearview mirror and move to one of the sideview mirrors
immediately. Diligent use of each mirror can
help prevent accidents that occur when drivers change lanes.

Maintenance

dirty cars quickly wear, tear

avoid damage with proper cleaning, care

eeping vehicles looking pristine requires care and diligent

cleaning. So many day-to-day activities and environmental materials have
the potential to damage the finish on cars
and trucks. While winter weather and
chemicals used to keep roadways passable are often blamed for affecting the appearance of cars and trucks, winter is not
the only time of year when substances can
cause damage to vehicles.
Spring and summer are prime seasons
for sap, birds and insects. These times of
year tend to see an uptick in road work as
well, and such projects can contribute to
damage caused by loose asphalt, gravel and
tar. Addressing problems resulting from tree
sap, insect and bird droppings and tar may
not be something to look forward to, but it is
necessary to keep cars looking pristine.

tree sap

insects and bird droppings

According to Cars.com, an automotive

information resource and vehicle sales website, although tree sap wont cause immediate damage to vehicle paint, it should not be
ignored. Over time, sap can become more
difficult to remove, etch through the clear
coat on the vehicle and cause discoloration.
When the temperature is hot, damage from
sap can accelerate.
On windows and windshields, drivers
may be able to gently remove dried sap with
a razor blade. However, use cleaning products
on more delicate paint. Automotive stores sell
speciality sap and tar cleaners. Otherwise, you
can try rubbing alcohol. It may take a few attempts to remove sap entirely.

Splattered bugs and avian surprises

dropped from above can be a messy, unsightly nuisance. Their acidic composition
also may cause them to damage paint over
time. Bugs and droppings can be sticky, so
you will need to work with something that
will remove the splatter without removing
the paint in the process. A product like WD40 may help. This oily product is normally
used on rust and hinges. When applied with
a cloth and allowed to penetrate the stain,
it can loosen difficult-to-remove sticky substances. Always test any product you use in
an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it
doesnt damage or discolor your the paint.
Insects or droppings that are fresh may
come off relatively easily with a good
washing or hosing off of the car. Retail-

ers also sell specialty insect sponges to remove bugs and other debris.

tar
Soap and water will do little to remove
tar and other petroleum-based products
from vehicles. Commercial tar removal
products use a strong solvent or detergent
to loosen the tar. This may include kerosene,
mineral spirits or another item mixed with
lubricants. Go slowly and use caution so
that you remove the tar and not the paint.
Drivers who are hesitant to clean their
vehicles of common residue can have their
cars or trucks professionally detailed, leaving the work in the hands of experts.

Summer offers chances

for touch-ups, fixes
car owners have multiple tools to
address dings , scratches

arm weather is synonymous

with many things, including
summer vacations. But for auto
enthusiasts, spring, summer and even
early fall would not be the same without
road trips. Road trips often instill a spirit
of rejuvenation in drivers and their passengers, and theres no reason that spirit
cannot be applied to vehicles as well.
Vehicle touch ups were once a realm
reserved specifically for mechanics or the
most ardent auto enthusiasts. But nowadays even weekend warriors can address
the minor dings, chips and scratches on
their vehicles, saving them both time and
money.

crack the color code

One of the fears novices commonly have
when touching up their vehicles is that they
wont find the exact match with regard to
their vehicles exterior color. The key to the
perfect color match is contained in the vehicles color code, which can be found somewhere on the vehicle, most often on the in-

side of the drivers side door. Consult your

owners manual or call the vehicle manufacturer if you cannot find the color code
on your vehicle. Once you find the code,
you can then order your color. Employing
the most extensive library of OEM colors
in the industry, AutomotiveTouchupTM
makes it as simple as ever for drivers to create and order the exact colors to touch up
their vehicles exteriors. Paints are created
per order during a simple, three-step online
ordering process using a vehicles specific
color code, make, model and year, and orders are shipped directly to consumers,
saving them from making a trip to the often
intimidating automotive supply store. The
result is drivers rest easy with the knowledge that they arent ordering and subsequently applying the incorrect color to their
car or truck.

ehicles rely on many

components working harmoniously to function at
optimal capacity. Any number of
systems can go wrong, and oftentimes the first indication that something has gone awry is an illuminated dashboard signal.
One such signal is the check engine light. Many drivers have little
idea what to do when this indicator
lights up, and this light can cause
some anxiety. According to Consumer Reports, a check engine light
turning on does not usually require
immediate action. However, it does
mean that you should make an appointment to have the vehicle inspected for potential problems.
Check engine lights are part of a
cars onboard diagnostics. The light
turning on may indicate something
minor, such as a loose fuel cap, or
something more serious like a misfiring engine. When the light turns
on, drivers wondering why may
want to see if the answer is related
to one of the following issues.

loose gas cap

Fuel vapors can leak out and air
can get in when the fuel cap isnt
secured correctly. This can compromise the fuel system and make the
check engine light come on. Take off
the cap and then reseal it to see if
that alleviates the problem. Cracked
caps will need to be replaced.

dirty oxygen sensor

A faulty or clogged sensor may

otor vehicles are sizable investments that,

for many people, trail only
homes and educations in terms of
the biggest expenses they will ever
have. So its in drivers best interests to take every step possible to
protect their investments and keep
their vehicles running smoothly as
long as possible.
While knowledgeable mechanics
can be invaluable resources, drivers
can take several minor, simple steps
to keep their cars running smoothly
for years to come.

perform weekly visual

inspections
Few drivers take the time to look at
their vehicles once those vehicles lose
their new car luster. But visual inspections can help drivers find problems
that, though minor, may impact their
vehicles performance. For example,
a routine examination of vehicle tires
can indicate if those tires are properly inflated. Poorly inflated tires can
decrease fuel efficiency and affect the
overall safety of a vehicle. If tires appear flat, check their pressure and inflate them to the levels listed in your
owners manual.

look for fluid leaks

Another telltale and easily identifiable sign that a vehicle needs some
maintenance is the sight of fluids beneath the car. If you notice puddles or
stains beneath where you normally
park your car, your vehicle may be
leaking fluids. Note the color and consistency of the fluid and then call your
mechanic to determine which fluid is
leaking and how to fix the problem.

tion about unburned oxygen from

the vehicles exhaust. This sensor monitors how much fuel is
burned. Compromised data can
cause a decrease in fuel efficiency.
Some do-it-yourselfers can replace
an oxygen sensor on their own,
but those who cant should have
the issue addressed immediately
by a professional.

too much speed

or load
Towing a trailer or another
heavy item may put strain on the
vehicle and cause the light to come
on because of loss of power. Lightening the load and reducing speed
can help fix the problem. Always
consult with the owners manual
to determine the towing capacity of
your vehicle.

short or faulty code

Computers arent always foolproof, and sometimes an electrical short or another similar problem can cause a light to come on.
Bring the vehicle to an automotive
supply store. Such stores typically
have diagnostics tools that can be
hooked into the cars computer
and provide a more detailed understanding of what is triggering
the check engine indicator.
In many cases, a steady check
engine light is not a serious concern. However, when such a light
comes on, drivers should try to find
out why as soon as possible.

Whether your vehicle is brand new

an oil change, but check your owners
manual for the guidelines established
by your vehicles manufacturer, and
adhere to that schedule religiously. If
you drive an older car, recognize that
the vehicle may benefit from more frequent oil changes and tuneups.
In addition, read the manual for additional guidelines, such as how often
to replace the air filter, headlight, turn
signal and brake lamps, windshield
wipers, and other vehicle parts that
can wear down over time.

look under the hood

While many drivers feel that the
area beneath their vehicles hoods is
best left to the professionals, you can
still lift up the hood every so often to
see if there are any glaring problems
that demand attention. Inspect rubber
belts for signs of wear and tear, and
know that such belts may need to be
replaced every 50,000 miles or even
more frequently depending on your
driving habits. Lifting the hood is also
necessary when checking fluid levels,
which you should check periodically
and before and after any long trips.
Drivers who notice or suspect damage when performing simple vehicle
maintenance should bring these concerns to the attention of their mechanics as soon as possible.

Drivers underestimate
importance of
daytime visibility
car , road conditions can lead to
dangerous situations for drivers

isibility is something many motorists take for granted, especially during the day, when sunlight tends to make drivers less cautious
than they might be at night. But as the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes, more traffic accidents occur during daylight hours than at night,
when headlights make vehicles more visible to other motorists and more pedestrians are walking around.
Though many drivers feel more comfortable during daylight hours, pedestrians and
oncoming traffic are not always easy to see,
especially when weather and road conditions are unfavorable. Fortunately, there are
easy ways for drivers to improve their daytime visibility.

update your headlights

Install LED daytime running lights. Being seen while driving in the daytime is just
as essential for a drivers safety as being
able to see when driving at night. Daytime
running lights, or DRLs, are an effective
way of improving visibility because they
make the vehicle more detectable during
daylight hours and dusk, when a motorists visibility is reduced. Studies have
shown that DRLs reduce multiple-vehicle
daytime accidents by as much as 11 percent,
effectively preventing daytime head-on and
front-corner collisions by making it easier to
see a vehicle, particularly as it approaches
from far away.
Some cars have daytime running lights
based off their headlamps. These are not
very bright and can ultimately cause the
lamps to wear out prematurely. Philips LED
DayLight DRLs are equipped with highpowered LUXEON(R) LEDs that project
a powerful, bright white light and a wide
beam, making a vehicle more visible to fellow motorists as well as pedestrians. In addition, the Philips LED DRLs allow drivers
to switch from using their standard headlights to an LED light source during the
daytime, extending the life of the headlights
while drawing less power from the vehicle.

check wiper fluid routinely

Some vehicles have just one reservoir
for windshield washer fluid, while others

equipped with a rear wiper typically have

two. Locate these reservoirs and make sure
there is an adequate amount of fluid in
each, especially during the winter and early
spring months when snow and debris such
as sand or salt from the roadways can accumulate on the windshield and make it
difficult to see. If the reservoir is empty, but
you are out of windshield washer fluid, do
not use water as a replacement, as water can
freeze and cause damage to the reservoir
and hoses.

inspect wipers
Inspect wipers and replace the blades if
they are sacrificing visibility. Old or worn
out wiper blades can also negatively impact
visibility. Ford Motor Company recommends drivers inspect their vehicles wiper
blades at least once every six months or as
soon as they fail to clear your windshield
completely or leave streaks. Older vehicles
with pitting on the windshield tend to be
harder on wiper blades, so drivers who
have cars with some extra years under their
belt should inspect their blades more frequently.

keep it clean
Clean interior glass and mirrors. Interior
glass can suffer from film buildup that can
reduce a drivers vision, especially during
daytime hours when such buildup can create a hazy reflection from the sun. This film
can be especially thick in cars where drivers
or their passengers routinely smoke.
In addition to cleaning the interior glass,
keep the rearview and side mirrors clean and
properly adjusted so your vision is not compromised while driving. Drivers should be
able to see all of the views around the back
of the car, especially the blind spots along
both sides of the vehicle. When cleaning or
adjusting the rearview mirror, remove any
trinkets or other items hanging from the mirror. Such items might add some personality
or aesthetic appeal, but they can also prove
a significant distraction and make it difficult
for drivers to see the road.

chup tool will depend on the type

and size of the blemish. Small chips,
nicks and thin scratches are best addressed with pens, while you might
need a small bottle of clearcoat to
address slightly larger areas. Use
an aerosol spray can to address areas that have experienced extensive
damage. When applying the paint,
use several light coats rather than
one heavy coat. Drivers concerned
about their application abilities can
visit the AutomotiveTouchup website to access a library of educational
videos that illustrate how to use the
various application tools. Visitors to
the website also can speak directly

and calm any lingering nerves you

may have about the paint match.

recognize that practice

makes perfect

Drying times vary depending on the

temperature. Paints may take longer to
dry when temperatures are below 70F
than they will when the weather is warmer. Once the application process is complete, do not wax the vehicle for 30 days.
Few vehicles make it through road
trip season without a scratch or two, and
now drivers can quickly and affordably
address those chips and nicks on their
own in a matter of minutes.

Even if you are confident you purchased the right paint, its still best to
practice using your touch up paint
prior to applying the paint to your
vehicle. Use a glossy sheet of paper
or metal can as a practice surface, and
then hold that practice surface up next
to your vehicle to confirm your choice

paint in the right

conditions
Before applying any paint, thoroughly clean the affected areas. A simple formula of dish soap and water should do
the trick, but be sure to allow the area
to dry completely before continuing.
When using aerosol cans, the ideal temperature to spray is between 70 and
80F and humidity should be 50 percent
or less. Never spray primer, paint or
clearcoat in direct sunlight.

oad trips have been part of popular culture

for decades. Featured prominently in

movies and books such as On the Road,
Rain Man and Easy Rider, road trips with
friends or family tend to leave indelible marks.
Remarkable road trips are made more
so by the company shared along the way
and the scenic and historical roadways
traversed to reach a destination. Travelers embarking on road trips in Canada
or the United States should consider including some of the following roadways
in their travel plans.
