TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS

Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 16-18; John 11:1-28
Tuesday, May 31

2 Tim. 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according
to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus
before the world began,

Psa. 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God
of truth.

Psa. 143:8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust:
cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

Gracious God My Savior:

Oh that you would call __________ and __________ to salvation in your
Son! Since salvation starts with your calling, it forbids all trust in good works, and
steers me to Christ alone. Yet afterwards, this same calling purges me from dead
works to serve the true and living God!
2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from
all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Since you are holy, and you have called me, make me more holy like
yourself. I may fall into sin, but I cannot live in sin if Im called. Call me away
from sin today, for this is the panting of my heart.
Phil. 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in
Christ Jesus.
Make my calling the highest calling. Let it set my affections on things
above. Let it elevate my hopes and expand my dreams, my tastes, and my desires
for what I can do for you. Give me an ennobling faith that makes me want to
spend my life with you, on you, and for you in your Eternal Purpose.
Heb. 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
I have received a call from heaven, not from a priest or even a pastor. It is a
call to heaven as well as from heaven. I am a tent-dweller here (that is just what
my body is), and look for a city whose builder and maker is God. Such is the
calling you give your people. Use me to deliver that call to others who have not
heard, and glorify Jesus in opening their ears to your call. Amen.

Savior, Master, Lord:

What a proof it is of how full you were of the Bible that almost every saying
you gave from the cross was a quotation or allusion from scripture. To fit this
verse into your own situation you added one word to it: Father. You also
subtracted something from it: thou hast redeemed me. Because while David could say
that, you could not because you were the Redeemer!
Help me make my own speech flavored with scripture today, so all my talk
will taste of some text! I should be saturated with it. From your first run-in with
the Devil in the wilderness, till your last struggle with Death on the cross, your
weapon was ever, It is written.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend
unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
In my hour of trouble, in my time of warfare I say, Father. The first cry
from the cross is just like the last. They both begin with the note, Father. To help
me forgive others I cry, Father! To help me in sore suffering and pain I cry, Father!
My main worthiness lies not in being good, but in being your child.
Where could I go but to the Lord? Beneath a shower of stones, the first
martyr Stephen was
Acts 7:59 calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
My last emotion when I die (if not my last expression) should be, Father,
receive my spirit. That is the doctrinal teaching in the last cry from the crossthe
Fatherhood of God, and all that comes to me as a believer from it. Grant me
grace to claim all you are as my Father. Amen.

Holy Lord and Helping Spirit:

There is sin I have not yet conquered. Come conquering Spirit of holiness
and overcome it! When will you come to me? I can do nothing but what the
Spirit enables me, yet when I have his mighty strength, I can do all things.
The cry of my soul is for four things: doctrinal teaching, divine direction,
Holy Spirit help, and true fellowship with the Father. My heart yearns for nothing
more than for that. I never walk uprightly unless I walk with you. The Holy Spirit
walks in me, for I am sealed and I belong to him. He dwells in me, but I do not
always walk in the Holy Spirit.
How will I solve that? I know! Since holiness is wisdom, then I will let
communion with you, and meditation on your word, become the mother of
holiness in me.
I cannot be like Christ if I do not see Christ. I have to seek God and see
God in order to be godly. If I can live content today without a word from the
mouth of Godgoing to work without prayer, coming home, checking email,
watching TV, going to bed without seeking your facethen I do not really want
revival. To walk wisely is impossible without a word from your word!
The neglect of prayer is a fatal flaw in my life, no matter how long I am
saved or how much else I know. Communion with you is so essential, and
disregard of it is such a folly, it is ridiculous for me to talk about knowing the way
wherein I should walk without it. Help me get nearer to God today, closer to Christ
today, intimate with your Spirit today, for that is true revival. And as Bro. Bob
Weston sings, I want a revival in my soul! Amen.

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 25-27; John 13
Friday, June 3

SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS

Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 28-30; John 14
Saturday, June 4

Rom. 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and
it shall be done unto you.

Psa. 14:7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD
bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Glorious God and King:

Prayer comes spontaneously from those who abide in Jesus. Prayer is the
natural outflow of a soul in communion with Christ. The leaf and fruit come out
from the vines branch naturally without any conscious effort, simply because of
its connection to the stem. So prayer buds and blossoms out of our church as
long as our people stand abiding in Christ.
The stars do not say, It is time for us to start shining. And people who are
really abiding do not say, It is time for us to get at it and pray. No, we will pray
the way wise people eat: when hunger hits. Yet we will pray corporately at
specified times. We dont have to feel in bondage when a prayer night comes
around and say, I ought to go, but I dont feel like it. No, it becomes a glad
errand to run to this mercy seat together! We can rejoice to go there corporately
as well as personally, because that puts us in the center of your Eternal Purpose!
Hearts abiding in Jesus send out supplications like fires send up flames and
sparks. We can open the day with prayer. Help us surround ourselves with prayer
as our atmosphere all day long. Then when we come to church, we simply bring
that atmosphere with us! This creates the environment of revival and the
atmosphere of life in our services.
The fruit of abiding includes liberty in praying. There is a freedom of
expression; there is power to pray. Oh Lord, help us plead as we need. We can
get the answer for ourselves if we are abiding. Fluency is fine, but we need depth
of thought and strength of feeling, because a true prayer is measured by
weight not by length. So make even our groans great orations! Amen.

LORD God and Loving Father:

Let me not be laughed-out of my confidence in you. Instead, let me scorn
the scorners scorning, and defy their foolish jeers.
Luke 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him,
though he bear long with them?
What could more effectively convince an atheist, more effectively halt my
haters, and more effectively stop sin and secure godliness, than the salvation of
your people at their cry? How many of us cry to you today from lands all over the
globe! We look for you to come. Come today with healing in my life, and Lord,
may you come very soon to catch away your bride!
Psa. 15:1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
As concerning the law, no one can dwell with you, because none of us lives
up to the qualifications. Let me learn today, from the Lord of the tabernacle,
what the true requirements of entrance are. Only my spotless Lord Jesusand
those who are conformed to his imageget in!
So make me more like Jesus today. Perfect holiness is found only in the
Man of Sorrows, yet in a measure, the Holy Ghost develops it in each one of us
who are his people. I am only right if I am upright in walk and downright honest.
My faith shows itself by good works. Help me not follow evileven in the secret
closet of my heartfor you are there to listen.
Jesus is my mirror of sincerity and true holiness. Make me more like him as
we ascend into a weekend of worship and praise to the Lamb of God. For his
sake I ask it. Amen.

WE have heard the joyful sound: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!

Spread the tidings all around: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Bear the news to every land, climb the mountains, cross the waves;
Onward! tis our Lords command; Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Waft it on the rolling tide: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Tell to sinners far and wide: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Sing, you islands of the sea; echo back, you ocean caves;
Earth shall keep her jubilee: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Sing above the battle strife: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
By His death and endless life Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Shout it brightly through the gloom, when the heart for mercy craves;
Sing in triumph oer the tomb: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Give the winds a mighty voice: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Let the nations now rejoice: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Shout salvation full and free; highest hills and deepest caves;
This our song of victory: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

TITHEWORK

1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)

TEAMWORD

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
