ThismanualaimstohelpyoutounderstandthemodelingofBW
objectsinHANAandreportingbasedonHANAmodelsinSAPBWon
HANA.ThiskindofprocessingisdoneinSAPBWonHANA.This
manualalsoprovidesdetailsofthestepsinvolvedinimporting
andmodelingBWobjectsinHANAandcreatingareportbasedon
HANAviews.Thisdocumentiscreatedsolelywiththeintentionof
sharinginformation.

1 OverviewofHANAOptimizedDSOandInfoCubein
BW7.4

DSOandInfoCubeinBW7.4areHANAOptimizedbydefault.This
reducestheactivationtimeandhasahugeimpactonthe
performance.ModelingBWobjectsinBWonHANAintoAnalytic
/calculationviewsisonlypossibleiftheunderlyingdatabaseis
HANA.ThisisbecausetablesarephysicallystoredinHANAand
viewsarecreatedwithrespecttothetables.

Keyfeatures
SAPHANAoptimizedobjectshelpyoutoachievesignificantly
betterperformanceinloadandactivationprocesses.Upto80%
fasterforloadinginHANAOptimizedCubes.
Withitshighcompressionrate,thecolumnbasedHANAdatastore
requireslessdatabematerialized.
Datamodelingissimplified.Usinginmemoryoptimizedobjects
youdonotneedtoloadaBWAindex,forexample.Inaddition,
thearchitectureoftheHANAdatabaseallowsyoutodelete
characteristicsfromanInfoCubethatstillcontainsdata.
WithBWinmemoryoptimizedobjects,complexanalysisand
planningscenarioswithunpredictablequerytypes,highdata
volume,highqueryfrequency,andcomplexcalculationscanbe
processedwithahighdegreeofefficiency.
LoadingSAPHANAoptimizedBWobjectscanalsobedonemore
efficiently.
TheSAPHANAdatabasereplacesbothanypreviousdatabaseand
SAPNetWeaverBWA,reducinginfrastructurecosts.Insteadof
bothdatabaseadministrationtoolsandadditionalSAPNetWeaver
BWAadministrationtools,theSAPHANAdatabaserequiresjusta
singlesetofadministrationtoolsformonitoring,backupand
restore,andotheradministrativetasks.
