Title: Identifying a suitable project
1.Introduction
This report will explain the way that our group
identified an enterprise project and why we
chose the project that we did

2.Enterprise skills
2.1 Methodology
I asked my fellow team member to complete a
questionnaire to show our skills as a
entrepreneur and subject strength. Both the
team member prepared the questionnaire. We
linked the questionnaire to identify and select a
business project in which both the members
will be able to optimize their respective skills.
We researched on three most suitable project .

I believe that I have all the abilities
and skills to undertake and succeed an
enterprise. After collation of data I
chose my three strongest abilities:
1. I am well motivated and can
motivate my team member to
work as efficiently as possible and
ultimately make a successful
business
2. In case of any problem I can
take the initiative and be decisive.
3. When risky decision need to be
made I can analyze the risk and
take a calculated risk
I am very confident of myself as well
as of my team leader. We havent
chose a team leader as its a small
group. I am sure that I will show good
enterprising skills and will take our
business on a successful path. Me and

my team member have a good

understanding, hence we will be able
to co-ordinate with each other and will
meet the deadlines. We will divide our
duties equally between each other.
My weak area is creativity and team
building. I lack in creativity skills
therefore I struggled to find a good
name and a logo for the business but
my fellow team mate nimit took the
initiative and suggested me with some
good ideas. We were showing good
teamwork from the 1st day of our
project

3.identifying a suitable project

3.1how a problem or need that our
enterprise could fulfill was
researched
My team member and me had a
meeting to decide which activity will
be most suitable. We were thinking as
students, which want is there, which is

not fulfilled while we are in school. We

identified some market gap and came
up with three ideas
Selling perfumes/deo
Selling local Indian food
Opening a small coffee shop
We decided to further research on
these activities.
We choose a random sample and
conducted a questionnaire to
gather detailed qualitative
information about our service
(whether the students will be
willing to buy perfumes in school)
For selling local Indian food we
decided to conduct an interview
and observe the students in
lunchtime. We decided to conduct
an interview with the canteen
manager to find out what problem
would we face and which is the
best selling food item. We also

observed students in canteen to

find out the number of students
who are buying food from school
canteen and the number of
students who bring their food from
canteen. I pointed out a important
thing that our school is a
international school with many
international students who might
want to try local Indian food which
they might not be able to have
outside because of the hygiene
factor. Nimit also came up with a
valid point that we will have
competition and the canteen has
gained customer loyalty. The
students might not easily move
away from canteen and buy food
from somewhere else.
For the coffee shop activity we
used the same research that was
done for the local Indian food, as
both of the activities required the
same research.

3.2 Findings
3.2.1 selling perfumes

will you buy perfume from school

5%

yes
35%

no
can't say

60%

A questionnaire was conducted on 70

people and an important yet simple
question was asked; whether they will
buy perfume in school or not this
activity was not carried forward
because the questionnaires suggested
that students are not interested in
buying perfumes. Majority of students
who were interested in buying
perfumes were male. After the
questionnaire we realized that selling
perfumes would mean that our market

would be restricted to male students,

which will affect our profit. Majority of
questionnaire suggested that students
dont often bring that much money in
school. One more reason to not go
forward with this activity is that our
school is against cosmetic and the
school wasnt encouraging this idea
and was not
Co-operating.

3.2.2
Local Indian food
Nimit conducted an interview with
thhe canteen manager and we are
disappointed with the outcome of it.

The canteen manager told us that

selling local Indian food has been once
tested in the school but the results
were not good in fact the sales were
so low that they had to stop selling it.
Our observation of the canteen also
supported this, in our observation we
noticed that more than 30% of the
students and almost 80% of the staff
bring their food from home so selling
food in canteen was not a good idea.
Both of us were really disappointed
with the results but I motivated both of
us and we finally found one good
business to go with.
3.33
Opening a coffee shop
After the research for local Indian food
we found that many students and
majority of teachers bring their food
from outside of the school. During our
observation we noticed that students
along with the teachers dont have
anything to drink except water, we

identified a market gap. After this we

conducted a questionnaire on 70
random samples of people including
teachers.
Do you feel that there is a need of a beverage along with your lunch

20%
yes
no
80%

We asked this question to identify if

we sold a beverage how many people
will be interested in buying our
beverage and are there enough people
to provide a potential market to cover
our cost and we make a reasonable
profit. The results showed that 80% of
the school members felt that there is a
need of beverage to ne sold in school.

which beverage do you feel should be available in our schhol

other ; 5%

fizzy drinks ; 25%

coffee; 45%
milkshakes ; 25%

After identifying the demand of a

beverage we needed to identify which
beverage should we sold so we asked
the above question and the results
showed that the demand for coffee is
the highest. We were not shocked with
the results as the whether in
December (winters) also supported
the selling of coffee so we decided to
forward with the coffee activity and
set up a small caf in school. To be
sure nimit took all aspects into notice
and calculated the risk. According to
his calculation he was sure that our
activity would be successful. After this

I took the initiative to find out how

value can be added to increase our
profit.
would you like cookie along with our coffe

no; 35%

yes; 65%

To add value I came up with a idea

that we can sell cookies along with our
coffee, this might further increase our
profit. With 65% of people saying yes
we decided to sell home baked

cookies.
which cookie flavour would you prefer the most

other ; 20%

chocolate; 50%
butterscotch ; 30%

it was essential for us to know which

cookie flavor will the customers prefer
the most so that we make the right
cookie and be able to sell as many
cookies as we can. With the results we
decided to go with chocolate cookies.

which coffee would you buy

other; 10%
cappachino ; 30%
expresso ; 30%

green tea; 30%

to further add the value I came up

with a idea that we can sell different
types of teas/coffees. I asked this
question in the questionnaire. Results
showed that all three types of
tea/coffee are equally important so
both the team members decided that
we would sell all the three types of
tea/coffee as it can play a major role in
increasing our profit.
