THE SPANISH EDUCATION SYSTEM

There are seventeen autonomous regions and

two autonomous cities (Ceuta y Melilla) in
Spain. The authority about many issues is
shared between the central government and
the regions.
Most of the decisions in education are taken
by each region
There isn’t an ICT model in Spain, but 18.
Each region began, and still follows, its own
path.
IIt’s even more than that. Each school can
adapt the programmes in a different way.

Giving a computer (UMPC) to each student aged 11
to 14. The computer belongs to the student not to
the school.
Building Digital Classroms: multimedia computer,
Digital Interactiv Board and Wifi conexion to Internet
in each classroom
Teacher training. My partner is going to talk about
this.
Four years to develop the plan. The first year, the
studentes aged 11 will get a computer and the rest
(12, 13 and 14) the next years.
Regions could decide the software installed in each
computer and the operating system.
The central government would finance half the cost
and each region the rest.
The plan isn’t compulsory. Each region could join it or
not.

ICT 2.0 School in Andalusia

This year (2010) the andalusian government has given

computers to each student aged 11 and 12 (last level
in primary schools): about 180000 students. In the rest
of Spain, only the students aged 11 got the computer.
Next year the ICT SCHOOL 2.0 is going to be
introduced in secundary schools.
Computers with free software and with Guadalinex as
the operating system.
Users can‘t administrate the computer. The CGA can
do it when the computer is connected to the
Andalusian network.
Now, we have to find out how join both programs. We
have some schools that are ICT Centres, some with
the ICT School 2.0 program, some with both programs
and others that haven’t got any program yet.
