Course Reflection Letter

Dear Mrs. Raymond:

I want to thank you for facilitating all of my experiences that Ive had thus far in your classroom.
Although it was very early, I really enjoyed coming to your class every Tuesday and Thursday.
Our class was always funny, entertaining and almost felt like a small community. I also enjoyed
your teaching style. You always went into depth with your explanations and examples, which
were always very helpful. I also really liked how you made everyone in the class feel like their
voice matters.
I believe that each daily writing helped train me to just write whatever comes to mind. It started
my thinking process as soon as I came into class. I also believe that the writing prompts
encouraged me to be more organized in the way that I worked, as well as making a plan for my
work. Everything being on Moodle definitely helped me deliver error free work. Most of the
projects assigned were already written out and described extensively; therefore, I didnt have to
wonder about specifications.
This semester I learned how to critically think, plan, and work with others. UWRT 1102 also
taught me how to manage my time more efficiently. There was always something due each week,
so I began to set days each week to do the work required. These skills are very meaningful and
important because they are skills that I can carry into another class and/ or setting. One of the
main things I struggled with this semester was staying motivated to wake up each day. My
schedule normally goes from 8am - 2 am. I am always tired and sore in the morning, which
makes it difficult to get out of bed. Although I have missed a couple of days, I have not exceeded
past the third one.

Before taking this class, I obviously had prior knowledge in writing. I had also made an eportfolio the semester prior. In terms of both of these things, I felt pretty confident towards any
task that incorporated these. As we moved into the Semester Long Multi-modal Project, I had
some prior knowledge of the topics suggested. I decided to choose Cannon Mills because I had
briefly heard about it but I wanted know more, especially since it resided in my hometown. In
my beginning stages of research, I was collecting factual information along with statistics. After
my interview, I was forced to come to the realization that the prior research I had was either
outdated, false or not all inclusive to everyone who experienced working there. I thought that it
was most important to tell a story to my audience versus just presenting information. I decided to
stray slightly from my prior proposal and mention some much more relevant topics.
In conclusion, I feel as if I have grown immensely from this course. I feel like I am not only a
better writer, but a better planner. I still have questions and concerns about some grammatical
rules that apply to writing. I believe that all of these projects showed me that I can stay on top of
my work no matter how frequent it is. I believe my best work is my Semester Long Multi-modal
Project. Never did I think that I could commit myself a whole semester to the same topic or
information, but I did! I am actually excited to share it with my classmates as well. This project
proved to me that I can dedicate myself to something extensively. This class has taught me how
to research efficiently, formatting tools and how to be a productive writer. I am saddened that this
semester is almost over. However, I will continue to apply the given knowledge of this course to
my future courses.
