KU-ENG scholarship 2016

Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University offers scholarships to non-Thai


students pursuing MEng or PhD degree in Civil engineering. Following are
details and guidelines for the prospective applicants.

Details of the scholarships


MEng programme
- Monthly allowance of 8,000 bath (for a period not longer than 24
months)*
- Payable tuition fees (not more than 70,000 baht per year) for not longer
than 4 semesters
- Research expenses of 50,000 baht per year (for not longer than 2 years)
PhD programme
- For MEng or MSc holders, monthly allowance of 10,000 bath (for not
longer than 36 months) *
- For BEng holders, monthly allowance of 8,000 bath (for the first 24
months) and will increase to 10,000 baht afterwards (for not longer than
12 months) *
- Payable tuition fees (not more than 70,000 baht per year) for not more
than 6 semesters
- Research expenses of 50,000 baht per year (for not longer than 3 years)
*those who also receive allowance from other sources will only be given part of
monthly allowance less than the indicated amount.

Who are eligible to apply for the scholarships?


MEng programme:
- Having an average IELTS score of 6 or higher (or other equivalent English
language proficiency certification) - exam taken less than 2 years prior to
the application
- Applicants must hold a BEng degree or an equivalent in civil engineering
or related topics (e.g. water resource engineering, environmental
engineering, etc)
- Having been accepted to study in the prospective programme by the
agreed supervisor and committee

PhD programme:
- Having an average IELTS score of 6.5 or higher (or other equivalent
English language proficiency certification) - exam taken not more than 2
years prior to the application
- Applicants must hold an MEng or MSc degree or an equivalent in civil
engineering or related topics (e.g. water resource engineering,
environmental engineering)
- Having been accepted to study in the prospective programme by the
agreed supervisor and committee

Conditions of graduation for the scholarship holders


- MEng programme: One accepted publication is required based on their
MEng dissertation in a peer-reviewed journal within ISI/SCI
expanded/SCOPUS
- PhD programme: Two accepted publication is required based on their
MEng dissertation in a peer-reviewed journal within ISI/SCI
expanded/SCOPUS
- Students who cannot meet the requirement of journal publication are
required to pay back the total amount of scholarship to the Faculty. Only

then would they be awarded the pursued degree, provided that all other
academic requirements are met.

Application process
- Jan-April Announcement of the scholarship - Interested applicants
should send their CVs, transcript and research outlook to their
prospective supervisor.
- May-June - Interview will be arranged by the prospective supervisor,
either on-line or on-site.
- July Admission of the post-graduate students. Notification of the
short-listed applicants.
- August 1st semester starts
- September Official confirmation of the successful applicants

- Bio-slope stabilization: use of vegetation for slope stabilization
- Climatic influence on slopes and foundations
- Excavation work in soft clay: earth retaining structure, soil Cement
Columns, etc.
- Energy foundations: Influence of thermal load on pile capacity and
settlement.
