Michael Mendenhall

Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

Michael Mendenhall is chief marketing and communications officer at Flextronics


(NASDAQ: FLEX). Flextronics is a $26B, industry-leading, Fortune Global 500 endto-end supply chain solutions company with a global workforce of 200,000 and
operations in over 30 countries. In this position, he is responsible for overseeing all
aspects of marketing, branding and communications for the Company.
Mr. Mendenhall most recently served as the executive vice president and chief
marketing and communications officer for Fusion-io, Inc. since May of 2014. In this
role, he was responsible for repositioning the Company's mission and vision to align
more closely with the corporate business objectives. During this time Mr. Mendenhall
re-architected the brand and repositioned its products. The successful new product
introduction of its critically acclaimed Generation 3 was one of those products. Mr.
Mendenhall delivered over 63 million gross impressions, highly positive third party
reviews and added over $200 million in value to the stock from that launch. He played
a key role in the successful acquisition of Fusion-io Inc. to a highly regarded Fortune
500 company.
Prior to Fusion-io Inc., Mr. Mendenhall was the CEO, co-founder and member of the
companys Board of Directors for Archetypes, Inc., a content, community and
e-commerce site and app. Upon his arrival, Mr. Mendenhall re-organized, repositioned and technically re-architected the entire company. Generating over
3,000,000 unique users in just six months. His strategy produced some of the best
user engagement metrics in the social media world, second only to Facebook.
Fortune Magazine wrote a positive story on the concept and Time Inc. selected it as
one of the top 10 startups to watch for in 2013. Google mentioned the company in its
2012 roundup.
While at Archetypes, Mr. Mendenhall also served on the Board of Directors of
Revolate Holdings LLC, a venture capital firm investing in disruptive, innovative
companies across consumer products, services and technology. While there he
advised portfolio companies such as Archetypes, ProCamps, Spartan Race, Yankee
Candle, David Yurman, and Nic+Zoe on brand and product positioning, marketing,
digital, e-commerce, go-to-market strategies and cross channel optimization and
planning. All of the companies are producing strong growth and some have gone
through positive capital transactions.

From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Mendenhall served as senior vice president and chief
marketing officer for Hewlett Packard, a worldwide leader in technology and research
development. He directed all aspects of corporate marketing operations globally. His
organization managed all brand strategy, advertising/media, external and internal
communications, digital and social media strategy, global citizenship, analyst
relations, integrated product design, strategic alliances and partnerships, customer
intelligence, marketing operations and HP.com. During this period HP saw double
digit revenue growth, great shareholder value and more positive attribution from the
media and analysts, a renewed and positive reputation as a leader in technology and
business. He reorganized the corporate marketing organization and its resources
producing some of the best marketing metrics in the industry. Mr. Mendenhall was
recognized internally and externally for these achievements. B2B Magazine named
him Marketer of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He was also named
Internationalist of the Year by the Internationalist Magazine for his global work.
Before HP, Mr. Mendenhall spent 17 years at the Walt Disney Company, concluding
in his position as executive vice president of Global Marketing for Walt Disney Parks
and Resorts, a $10B business spanning North America, Europe and Asia. His areas
of responsibility included global brand management, marketing strategy, events and
promotions, as well as all customer managed activities. His work delivered record
results in attendance, occupancy and per capita five years in a row for the Walt
Disney Company. Mr. Mendenhalls work won numerous third party accolades,
including an Emmy Award and the 2000 and 2001 Silver Lions Best Corporate
Campaign Award at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes, France.
Mr. Mendenhall has been an influential voice in the marketing world globally, setting
marketing agendas for many CMOs. He has been a member of the World Economic
Forums Global Agenda Council on Marketing and Branding. He currently is a
member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, was on the CMO Inner
Circle, the Senior Advisory Board for the Executive Marketing Council and a member
of the M50.
He has served on several boards that are influential in the areas of Technology,
Marketing and Communications.
Mr. Mendenhall holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Emerson College, where he
now serves on the Board of Overseers.
