1- Describe using adjectives + a fundamentation the different characters that appear in part
1 of the novel.
2- Read part 2 of the novel and state the importance of the character called Ellen,
demonstrate with facts from the novel.

Bud Corliss: He was a handsome young man, he was 24 years old. He was tall with blond hair.
He was an ambitious person. So that he wanted to be rich and successful man, he looked for a rich
girl and wanted to marry her. He was very gently, good at winning people's trust. He was a smart
young man because he planned very precisely Dorothys death. He also was cold and full of hate,
because he thought that women only wanted to use him for a short time, then they changed him for
another young man, but he enjoyed spending their money. He was a liar and selfish person because
he made believe Dorothy that he loved her but he didnt love her and he didnt have a baby and lived
in a trailer with Dorothy and a baby.

Dorothy Kingship: she was a beautiful Young woman she was younger than Bud, she was a
possessive person because her parents got divorced when she was a child so she was afraid of
being alone, and she had always tried to make people like her . Dorothy was a faithful girl because
she wanted to have a nice husband and family that she never had. She also was an innocent girl.
Thus she believed her boyfriend loved her but it was not true he only wanted to marry her because of
her fathers money.

Ellen
She didn't believe that Dorothy committed suicide. So she went to find out the truth herself.
Ellen described some reasons that proved Dorothy was murdered.
This reasons were the following:
Dorothys suicide note began with the word Darling, and Dorothy never called Ellen darling. She always
wrote Dear Ellen and the letter didnt really talk about suicide.
Another reason was that Dorothy was ready to get a Marriage License because her body was finding in the
Municipal Building in Blue River and it was the building which contained the Marriage License.

Also Dorothy was wearing 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,' as the old
tradition goes. So Dorothy was very careful about her clothes. Because she always dressed very nicely.
Then Ellen thought that Dorothy was killed by her boyfriend. So Ellen tried to find him.

She didn't believed that story because she thought that Dorothy was at the point of getting married.
She. She didn't know a name but she knew that he was a blond and handsome guy who shared a
class with hher. She found two suitable guys. Bat at that moment, she also found out that none of
boyth boys did it. Because her own boyfriend Bud the killed Ellen herself. Before he killed her he told
Ellen that he was the one who had killed Dorothy.

,. She thinks that Dorothy was ready to get married, as she was wearing 'something old,
something new, something borrowed, something blue,' as the old tradition goes. Ellen
goes to the university and, with the help of the Dean, manage to narrow the number of
men who could have been Dorothy's boyfriend down to two, Gordon Gant and Dwight
Powell, who seem to be the only two who could match the description of Dorothy's
boyfriend.
