TRAINING

REPORT
Bimo Eko Satrio
Week: 1 and 2 (15 April 2009 24 April 2009)
GENERAL WORKNG PRACTICE
1. CELLE WORKING PRACTICES
Celle intranet website includes the detail informa4on on how to perform specic func4ons for a
project work. The link can be found here. The link includes ow diagram for each of the main
processes as well as the documents related to the process. For example, list of base numbers
and related Engineering Procedures for crea4ng new part and document.
2. QUOTATION PROCESS
A specic Quota4on group usually handles the Quota4on process. Points worth highligh4ng are:
a. The outcome of the quota4on process would be costed BOM, quota4on drawing and
technical clarica4ons for customers.
b. During the quota4on process, the drawing produced not necessarily in Inventor, AutoCAD
copy would be acceptable.
c. Interac4on between Distribu4on Assembly and Component assembly may be minimum. For
example, dimension of Stab Plates or Electrical connectors are usually can be assumed.

3. EWR PROCESS
1. The process ini4ated by EWR assignment from Engineering Manager.
2. Using ZEWR3 command in SAP, retrieve important informa4on such as the Project Manager
and Lead Engineer for the project.
3. Check and retrieve as much informa4on as possible from the EWR document in SAP. The
following document will be necessary to start the design:
(a) Func4onal design specica4on (FDS) which is a document that specied the func4ons
that the UTA supposed to perform/ accomplish.
(b) Quota4on Layout. A layout created by Quota4on group to give an illustra4on of how the
UTA will look like.
(c) Costed BOM. A BOM comprises informa4on on the budget of the UTA to be designed.
This will serve as a cos4ng guide for the Sales Order/ Package engineer to design the
UTA.
4. Review the informa4on above, contact the lead engineers/ project manager should there
are some ques4ons related to the document.
5. It will be benecial to:
(a) Obtain the client Specica4on Document from the Lead Engineers/ Project Manager.
(b) Set-up a mee4ng with Quota4on Engineer to understand all the design notes/ highlights
iden4ed during the quota4on stage.
6. During the ini4al stage of working, it will be benecial to correspond with the engineer who
is in charge for stab plates and electrical connector.

UTA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION
DESIGNING UTA,

Point to note:
(a) The base number for UTA is 223398 and 223423. These base numbers provide many
references. There is a spreadsheet list in Celle which contain several of these part numbers
(the spreadsheet includes the customer name, project name and the dimensions as well as
the type of the UTA). This will be a good star4ng point to understand several available types
of UTA.
(b) In certain cases, it may be possible to have SDU and UTA combined together. For example on
UTA mounted tree, the connec4on from Umbilical is separated on the UTA and connected
directly to tree.
(c) Few important design characteris4cs to note are:
The loca4on of UTA will be mounted. UTA can be mounted on a founda4on
i.
structure, a tree or a manifold. The founda4on structure can be combined with SDU
or separated.
The UTA deployment mechanism. The UTA can be deployed together with the
ii.
founda4on structure or it can be installed with a stab and hinge over to a structure
which already previously deployed in the subsea bed. In special cases, there is a
necessity to move the UTA a_er it was landed on the Seabed. This will determine the
li_ing facility on the UTA.
First End vs Second End Lay. Related to deployment mechanism, customer may
iii.
specically request for First end or Second End Lay deployment. First End lay means,
UTA is deployed while the umbilical is connected to the FPSO/ Pla`orm and the
umbilical is connected upward. For this rst end overlay, it may be possible to li_ the
UTA using umbilical. For second end overlay, the UTA was deployed when Umbilical
is already laid down on the subsea bed. Therefore, it has to be deployed with
specic li_ing facili4es (pad eye on UTA). As an example, for intraeld UTA, the rst
UTA deployed is using rst-end method. It is deployed while the umbilical is
connected to the second UTA which is s4ll located in the FPSO or Pla`orm. The
second UTA deployed is using second end method, as the umbilical and rst UTA is
already laid down on the subsea bed.
Dimensions. Typically, customer may have size limita4on for the UTA.
iv.
Types and quan44es of Electrical, Hydraulic or Chemical connector will be required.
v.
Umbilical termina4on. For umbilical termina4on, Engineer has to liaise with the
vi.
customer selected umbilical vendor to nalize the required interface.
PROCEDURE FOR CREATING DOCUMENTS AND PART NUMBERS FOR UTA
I. Determine the correct part number and drawing number for the UTA
1. The base number for UTA is 223398 (used un4l 99) and 223423 (s4ll available). Use ZE33 or
other SAP command to nd the available next dash number.
2. For the documents, typically there are three documents to be created which are
(a) Assembly drawing, the drawing number will be SK-066***. The last three digit number of
the base number will follow the last three digit numbers of the assembly base number. The
dash number will follow the assembly part number dash number. For example, for assembly
part number 223423-65, the assembly drawing number will be SK-066423-65
(b) Flow Diagram, which depicts the Piping Diagram for the assembly. For F/D, the number will
follow the assembly drawing number with addi4onal -01 at the back. For example, for the
same part number as example in (a), the F/D number will be SK-066423-65-01.

(c) Interconnec4on Diagram, the I/D will be under electrical engineers responsibility. However, if
there is such a need to create this document number, the I/D number will be the assembly
drawing number with addi4onal -02 at the back. For example, for the same part number as
example in (a), the I/D number will be SK-066423-65-02.
(d) Circuit Diagram, For C/D, the number will follow the assembly drawing number with
addi4onal -04 at the back. For example, for the same part number as example in (a), the C/
D number will be SK-066423-65-04.
(e) For FAT and Installa4on procedure use base number x-065477 and x-065477,respec4vely.
(f) For SUTA Frame the base number, the number to be used is 222413-** or 222414-**. The
document number for the frame drawing is x-077***, the last three digit will follow the last
three digit of the Part Number Base Number. For example, for 222414-44 is using
x-077414-44.
NOTE: The list of base number for documents and part number that Celle Engineering created
can be found in Celle Intranet.
II. Create the Part Number in the SAP.
1. Using ZC31T, create the part number and document iden4ed in Step I above to SAP. Refer to
EP-302, for the right procedure for the part number and document descrip4ons.
ASSIGNMENT: CHEVRON JACK & ST. MALO PROJECT.
The main reference for this project is CHEVRON Tahi4 SUTA. The main characteris4c of this SUTA is the
screwed connec4on between the UTA main body to the founda4on structure. The main dierence for
this project is the blanking dimension for the SUTA main body is limited to 1.0 m x 1.0m x 2.0m. Most of
the exis4ng UTAS have much bigger blanking dimensions than that.
Results of Contract, costed BOM and Quota4on Drawing.
Issues

Responses

1. The contract specied that the blanking

dimensions to be 1.0 x 1.0 x 2.0 m, excluding
founda4on structure, due to installa4on/
deployment mechanism. It also indicated that
founda4on structure to be detachable from
the UTA body using pin reten4on or S&O
method. If we are using the screwed
connec4on, does the blanking dimensions will
include the founda4on structure

Gilles: The detachable does not necessarily means

founda4on structure and UTA to be deployed
separately. The detachable can be for shipping
purpose only. Therefore, the blanking dimension
can be assumed to be excluding the founda4on
structure.

2. Dual Inboard Stab Plates. Dual means Two Stab plates.

Hydraulic + Chemical or means two stab
plates
3. How do we design mudmat and how do Mudmat is usually outsourced and Frame
we performed the Frame calcula4on
calcula4on is also performed by Vendor. There is
plan to do it in-house, but it is not exis4ng at the
moment.

4. How do we liaise with the Stab Plates and Contact Stephen Wagner for electrical connector
electrical connector engineer?
and Leeds Engineer for stab plates. We may
directly contact the engineer in charge or we can
ask for Project Lead engineer helps.
