Multichannel signal processing provides
robust, stable tool responses with enhanced
radial and vertical resolution and correction
for environmental effects. Quantitative two-
dimensional (2D) imaging of formation resis-
tivity is possible because of the large number
of measurements made. The images repre-
sent bedding and invasion features clearly
and quantitatively. Advanced invasion
description parameters are used to describe
the presence of transition zones and annuli.
The quantitative information about invasion
can be converted to a 2D image of water sat-
uration Sw, which can be plotted in color at
the wellsite.

AIT Array Induction Imager Tool

The standard AIT-B and AIT-C tools are used
in moderate-environment wellbore conditions
to measure the true resistivity of geologic for-
mations. AIT measurement of conductivity
SAIT
as a function of both depth and distance
from the borehole has revolutionized induc-
tion logging by increasing the depth of inves-
tigation of the measured signal concurrent
with reducing the vertical resolution from
4 to 2 ft [1.22 to 0.61 m] and to 1 ft [0.30 m]
in smooth wellbores.
