The Honorable Mike Lee

U.S. Senate
361A Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Lee:
We are writing to you on behalf of the millions of hunter and angler conservationists we
represent to strongly urge the release of your current hold on Flint, Michigan water related
legislation which is having the effect of blocking final consideration of the Senates
Comprehensive Energy bill (S. 2012). Removal of the hold, which is currently an obstacle
preventing the progress of this important bipartisan legislation, will significantly increase the
likelihood that our shared legislative priority, the Bipartisan Sportsmens Act (BSA), will be
enacted this Congress.
Under a recently adopted Unanimous Consent Agreement, floor consideration of S. 2012 would
include a vote on amendments containing many of the most important provisions included in the
Bipartisan Sportsmens Act. In addition to bolstering wildlife conservation programs, the BSA
would enhance and expand hunting, angling, and recreational shooting access. Introduced by
Senators Murkowski and Heinrich along with the bipartisan leadership of the Congressional
Sportsmens Caucus, the BSA enjoys the strong support of the vast majority of the United States
Senate.
Despite overwhelming support, similar legislation fell victim to procedural gridlock in both the
112th and 113th Congresses. Removal of your hold would help allow S. 2012 to take a vital step
toward realizing our common vision for protecting and strengthening our nations rich hunting
and conservation heritage on behalf of current and future generations.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this earnest request and for your ongoing service
on behalf of Americas sportsmen and women.
Sincerely,
Archery Trade Association
