TECHNICAL GUIDELINES FOR TABLE TENNIS All table tennis tournaments shall be governed by the rules adopted by the International Table Tennis Federation. The following rules are cited for your information and/or clarification. The committee and the commissioner shall decide any matter not mentioned in the ground/official rules. Tournament Format The competition implements the SINGLE ROUND ROBIN system for both men and women division consisting of single match, double match and mixed double match. The starting teams to play will be decided during the event. Team Composition A team shall consist of five (5) maximum participants but only four (4) are allowed to play for each division (men and women). The remainder shall be the reserve player that can only substitute the official players in case of any valid incidents with supporting papers. No player can repeat another match category in each division. Only official players listed in the photo gallery shall be allowed to participate. Game Format A match is played best three (3) of five (5) sets. A set shall be won by the player or pair first scoring 11 points unless either players or pairs score 10 points, when the game shall be won by the first player or pair subsequently gaining a lead of 2 points. Flow of the Match Each player serves two points in a row and then switch server. However, if a score of 10-10 is reached in any game, then each server serves only one point and then the server is switched. After each game, the players switch side of the table. The Order of Play In singles, the server shall first make a service, the receiver shall then make a return and thereafter server and receiver alternately shall each make a return. In doubles, the server shall first make a service, the receiver shall then make a return, the partner of the server shall then make a return, the partner of the receiver shall then make a return and thereafter each player in turn in that sequence shall make a return. The choice of ends and the right to be server or receiver in every match shall be decided by lot. The winner of the lot shall have the choice of either being server or receiver, or the choice of ends. The other player will then take the remaining choice. Protocol All participants must be within the Multi-Purpose Hall of WCC Aeronautical and Technological College, 45 minutes prior to their scheduled game. A 15-minute grace period for forfeits will be implemented as the game starts as scheduled.
