0 Design Requirement
4.1 Scalability requirement
The WAN network is able to expand additional devices with use 48 ports device because there
are many PCs in Block X, Block Y and Block Z, 1 server in PTMK building, 10 Pc in Block M
band 30PC Faculty Building. So additional port is saving for expanding bigger scale of network.
Rather than that, it is Centralized access whereas data/file easy to retrieve and share within the
network.
4.2 Availability requirement
Availability requirement is measured as the network is working well everyday .Network has
served many type of data such as media, video and data information. Besides that, user can
access network easily in every lab or room in the building and Internet port are provided in every
lab or room in the building. PTMK staff will be administrator for this network. In keeping with
user expectations, the networks are expected to operate at 99.9% uptime and an undiscovered
error rate of .001%.
4.3 Security requirement
In the network security, we using the basic security software which is Firewall to block
unauthorized user accessing the network. Moreover, pre-install firewall software is provided
inside the intermediary devices. The network will be available in WAN group access. Therefore,
people cant access the network without permission and only authorize devices are allowed to
access on the network. In addition, administration control by PTMK staff. So, PTMK staff can
manage and monitor student using the network. In this network can allowing only known mac
address with using the Mac filter or port filtering.
4.4 Adaptability requirement
The network design should be adapt to new technologies and changes such as new protocol,
different device and others possibility upgrades. In this network, it is using star topology to
upgrade easily in future. The designed network also can easily configure by PTMK staff when
they add a new function or need configure to upgrade in future.
4.5 Usability requirement
The reason of using switch is user able to expand the network access capabilities and maintain
the same speed for each data/packet send or receive in the network. Besides, switch has provide
many port to give computer connected it in order to get the access in network. In addition, router
is given PTMK Staff only for access it to manage this network. PTMK staff as admin to get
access through the router, to make any configuration, change and maintenance.
4.6 Manageability requirement
Managing and maintenance remote by PTMK staff. PTMK staff can as admin to setup and
configuration system for higher performance and availability. Network documentation will be
providing to ease user to maximize the use of application and hardware in the network
