EXT. NEVADA DESERT - NIGHT - AUGUST 1933

The landscape is desolate, with only mountains far back and a
long, thin road.
A jackrabbit sits in the middle of the road, crossing when a
truck carrying an OAKIE FAMILY drives by.
Radio static is heard, as the truck passes byFORT ATKINS
A small base, consisting of a few one-story wooden buildings,
surrounded by a wire fence. The radio noises continue,
interspursed with VOICES.
NEWSCASTER #1
-unemployment hit a record high
according to latest reports, with
no signs of stopping
NEWCASTER #2
-esident Roosevelt visited the
Midwest today, promising an end to
the DepressionWHITE GUY DOING BLACK GUY VOICE #1
I dont know, Ralphie, Mr. Teasdale
said if we aint delivered this
note by 10 wes fired.
INT. GUARD ROOM - NIGHT
The room is small, with a desk, a few chairs, a radio, and
pulp magazines scattered around.
Two GUARDS, a couple of young lunks in their early 20s, are
watching the radio, grinning widely.
WHITE GUY DOING BLACK GUY VOICE #2
I knows that Otis, but I needs some
fried chicken in my belly and like
my pappy always said, pleasure
before business!
The guards break into uproarious LAUGHTER.
GUARD #1
Listening to this makes me feel
like I have a real connection with
the Negro community, you know?
Yeah.

GUARD #2

2.
An ALARM BELL in the room goes off. The guards jump out of
their seats and grab their guns.
CUT TO:
INT. FORT ATKINS - HANGAR - CELL - NIGHT
The room appears to have been converted from a jail room. The
jail cell is filled with hay, and the door has been torn
down, a trail of blood on the floor.
The guards rush in, their shotguns loaded and ready. There's
a MOAN. They rush to the cell, where a woman lies face down
on the hay.
GUARD #2
Ms. Reid! Are you all right? What
happened?
They turn her over.
Jesus...

GUARD #1

LILLIAN REID (26)'s face has been slashed, as if by the claws

of a large animal.
LILLIAN
Thought...was sick...
EXT. FORT ATKINS - CENTER - NIGHT
Alarms blare! The base is abuzz with activity, with soldiers
scrambling and searching everywhere.
COLONEL FARNSWORTH (55), a confident life-long military man,
walks through the middle, followed by some aides.
COLONEL FARNSWORTH
I want every inch of this base
checked, I want you to go through
the shit in the latrine!
AIDE
Are we sure it's still here,
Colonel?
COLONEL FARNSWORTH
Son, that electrified fence can
turn a cow into 1,000 lbs of welldone burgers, if it tried to climb
it believe me we would know.
(aside, to aide)

3.
COLONEL FARNSWORTH (CONT'D)
Damn it, now on top of everything I
want a burger. Have them cook me up
one while they check the kitchen.
INT. FORT ATKINS - STORAGE - NIGHT
A door opens and a YOUNG, NERVOUS SOLDIER slowly enters a
pitch black room. He flicks the switch, but the bulb is out.
He slowly pulls out a flashlight. He turns it on and starts
to shine it around the room.
He the aims it on the high end of a corner, revealing hairy
feet. Theres a growling...
EXT. STORAGE - NIGHT
The soldier's SCREAM is heard. Seconds later, a FIGURE leaps
through the door.
The soldiers converge around the figure, but it grabs them
and TOSSES them away, with effort.
As the soldiers close in on it, it LEAPS onto a WATER TOWER,
and starts climbing.
The soldiers surround the water tower; Colonel Farsnworth
(eating his burger) pushes his way to the front.
COLONEL FARNSWORTH
(mouth still full)
Get a light on that thing!
INSERT: The figure, shrouded in shadow, grabs and tears at
the wood, throwing the pieces to the ground.
COLONEL FARNSWORTH
Hold your fire! Hold your fire,
goddammit!
It's too dark to see, but the sounds and falling wood are
still present. Soldiers wheel in a SEARCHLIGHT.
EXT. FORT ATKINS - NIGHT
They aim the searchlight at the water tower, but the figure
is not there; only the damaged structure holding it up almost
completely demolished; the structure is now tilting.
Fall back!

COLONEL FARNSWORTH

The water tower FALLS, collapsing on the fence.

4.
The WATER TANK cracks open upon impact; the water crackles
when exposed to the fence.
The water rushes throughout the base. A soldier coming into
contact with the water is ELECTROCUTED.
COLONEL FARNSWORTH
Fall back! That water's
electrified!
Amidst the chaos around him, Colonel Farnsworth looks at the
moon, and sees a far-away figure, running into the horizon.
Aw nuts.

COLONEL FARNSWORTH

ROLL CREDITS
INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - LOBBY - DAY
It's a small, wooden room; less than ten patrons, plus the
tellers and a guard.
The banker, a young woman named SYLVIA SIMS, hands a little
old lady a small stack of $1 bills.
SYLVIA
Here you go, Mrs. Milius. Is there
anything else we can do for you?
Mrs. Milius ignores the question and counts the bills. When
she's done, she looks at Sylvia with suspicion.
MRS. MILIUS
No, Im fine. Good bye.
Mrs. Milius leaves and leans over to the next in line, TOMMY
PRESTON (28) a good ol' boy with a straw hat, nice clothes,
and a shit-eating smile.
MRS. MILIUS
You watch yourself, young man.
These people, theyll cheat you at
every turn.
TOMMY
I sure will, maam.
Tommy walks up to the teller.
TOMMY
Why hello there, ma'am, what might
your name be?

5.
SYLVIA
Sylvia Sims, sir.
TOMMY
Well Ms. Sims, I hope you've been
having a pleasant day.
He tips his hat. Sylvia blushes despite herself.
SYLVIA
Your name, please.
My name?

TOMMY

Tommy reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a HANDGUN.
He FIRE it into the air a few times before pointing it at
Sylvia.
Those in the bank GASP and shout. The guard reaches for his
gun, but ROLAND KERTZ (38), a tall, well-built man with
silver hair and beard, points a gun at his head and cocks it.
ROLAND
(Eastern European accent)
I'd think it good advice if you
drop the gun, good sir.
The guard does so.
Tommy is joined by JIMMY (17) a young go-getter with lots of
pluck, as well as a machine gun. He grabs Sylvia while Tommy
jumps onto the counter, and again fires into the air.
TOMMY
Everyone on their hands and knees!
You all have the great honor to
witness a robbery by the Tommy
Preston Gang! You'll be walking out
of this bank with a story you'll be
telling your grandkids, assuming
you all do as youre told! Yee-ha!
He fires into the air again then jumps down.
A portly man is now with Jimmy and Sylvia.
TOMMY
Who's this, Jimmy?
JIMMY
Says he's Mr. Burrough, the bank
manager.

6.
TOMMY
Ah, just the man I wanted to see.
MR. BURROUGH
Uh, there's something you shouldTOMMY
If I wanted to hear talk I'd go see
a parrot. I just want you to lead
me to your vault, understand?
Burrough nods.
TOMMY
(to crowd)
Now I'm going to leave you in the
hands of my friend Roland. Any of
you want to be a hero, well that's
your prerogative, but I should warn
you, he was in the war.
EXT. SMALL TOWN BANK - LOBBY - DAY
Outside the bank, in a 1929 Nash Special Six, are RUBY YATES
(24, African-American) an intelligent young woman, and JONAS
DRISCOLL (52) a sort of old beloved uncle type.
JONAS
What's taking them so long?
RUBY
That horse's ass is showboating
again.
A distant siren is heard. Jonas takes a swig out of a bottle
of clear liquid.
JONAS
Wrap it up, Tommy.
INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - VAULT ROOM - DAY
Tommy, Jimmy, and Sylvia wait as Mr. Burrough opens the
vault.
TOMMY
This is it, Jimmy. We've hit the
big time. Wonder what they'll name
me? Bank Buster Preston, maybe. Or
Cool Guy Tommy.
JIMMY
Hey, how about Tommy Gun Tommy?

7.
TOMMY
Eh, on second thought I don't want
a nickname. Like Dillinger, he's so
good he doesn't need one.
The vault door is opened.
TOMMY
All right, 20 gs, come to papaThe vault is completely empty.
Whaa...

TOMMY

He goes into the vault, looks around.

He grabs Mr. Burrough by the neck.
TOMMY
There's supposed to be 20 gs in
here!
MR. BURROUGH
There-there was. But a few days ago
we were, um, robbed.
Tommy just looks at him, his mouth agape.
MR. BURROUGH
It was in all the papers.
The SCREECH of a megaphone is heard.
GOSLING
(V.O, on megaphone)
Attention, Preston Gang. I repeat,
attention, Preston Gang.
TOMMY
Ah Christ...
EXT. SMALL TOWN BANK - DAY
A group of bored policemen stand behind the person with the
megaphone, RYAN GOSLING (22) a small, gawky boy wearing a toobig snazzy suit and glasses.
GOSLING
This is Agent Ryan Gosling of the
Bureau of Investigation. We have
the bank surrounded. Come out with
your hands up or we'll, well, have
to shoot you.

8.
INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - VAULT ROOM - DAY
Tommy and the rest listen.
GOSLING
(V.O, on megaphone)
Uh, that's all I guess.
Tommy groans, then points his gun at Burrough and Sylvia.
TOMMY
All right you're coming on a little
ride with us.
INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - HALLWAY - DAY
Tommy and Jimmy lead their hostages back to the lobby.
TOMMY
No don't worry Jimmy, this is just
a temporary setback. We'll get out
of here just fine, because we have
plenty ofTommy opens the doorINT. SMALL TOWN BANK - LOBBY - DAY
-and finds the lobby empty.
-Hostages?

TOMMY

Tommy looks around, and sees Roland bound and gagged to a

chair.
Tommy rushes over and take the gag out of his mouth.
TOMMY
Damn it Roland, what the hell
happened?
I did.

GUARD (OS)

Hiding in the corner, the guard, armed with Roland's tommy

gun, OPENS FIRE.
Tommy stays inches ahead of the bullets to hide behind a
column
Jimmy reaches for his gun but Sylvia grabs a vase and SMASHES
him over the head with it. Jimmy falls to the ground groaning
in pain, while Sylvia and Burrough escape.

9.
INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - DAY
From across the street in their car, Ruby and Jonah watch as
Sylvia and Burrough come out the door, and are quickly
escorted away by policemen.
JONAS
Hmm, events are not unfolding as we
hoped. Perhaps it's time to call in
Maura.
Not yet...

RUBY

INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - LOBBY - DAY

Tommy briefly pokes his head out from behind the column, only
to be met by gunfire.
TOMMY
Damn it Roland what the hell
happened?
ROLAND
Well, the guard, he was in the war,
too! We got to talking about
military hardware, and he wanted to
see the gunTOMMY
I can take it from there, Roland.
Tommy thinks.
TOMMY
Listen pal, right now I have five
armed men in the back wondering
where I am.
GUARD
I was in here the whole time, I saw
everyone come in.
Oh, yeah.

TOMMY

GUARD
The police are coming in now.
You're finished!
EXT. SMALL TOWN BANK - DAY
Gosling and the police are at the door of the bank.

10.

Now!

RUBY

She HONKS the horn three times.

SHOTS RING OUT and hit several of the officers, who all
scatter, except for Gosling.
INSERT: On the roof of a nearby building is MAURA FERGUSON
(23) a young woman dressed in flapper wear and with a keen
targeting eye.
INT. SMALL TOWN BANK - LOBBY - DAY
The panic can be heard inside.
TOMMY
Roland, Routine #54!
Roland BURSTS out of the ropes ala Superman, and tosses the
chair at the guard, who groans. Tommy leaps out and opens
FIRE, only to realize he's out of bullets.
The guard grins as he raises his gun. Hes about to fire when-The door OPENS, and Gosling enters.
Stop!

GOSLING

He FIRES, shooting the guard in the shoulder.

The guard drops to the ground. Gosling looks on confused.
TOMMY
Thanks a lot, kid.
Tommy KNOCKS Gosling's head with the butt of his gun, and he
falls to the ground.
EXT. SMALL TOWN BANK - DAY
Tommy and Roland step out, and are met by a hail of bullets.
They both duck as they cross the street.
Jimmy appears and opens fire.
JIMMY
Take this you dirty pigs! Don't
worry about me, Mr. P, I'll beJimmy is shot repeatedly in a sequence so violent it makes
Quentin Tarantino look like Jim Henson.

11.
Tommy and Roland use the opportunity to get in the car.
TOMMY
Ruby, Jonas, let's get going.
ROLAND
What about Maura?
TOMMY
Forget Maura, she's gone, shesTommy sees Maura has somehow appeared in the car. Shes calm,
and doesnt seem offended by Tommy's comment.
TOMMY
Oh, hi Maura. Glad to see you made
it.
Ruby turns the engine on, then pauses.
Uhh...

RUBY

TOMMY
You parallel parked?
RUBY
You said you were coming out with
hostages, I didn't think wed have
to make a quick getaway!
Their car BUMPS back and forth against the cars it's between,
all three getting dents and such. One of the headlights falls
off.
Finally, it gets out and speeds away.
Tommy leans out the window.
TOMMY
So long suckeTommy hits a light post and falls out, his pants getting
caught in the door which TEARS them off.
A pantless Tommy runs for the still-going car, jumping in the
back, his legs kicking around. A bullet hits his butt.
The cops and on-lookers break into LAUGHTER. A photographer
takes a photo.
EXT. DIRT ROAD - DAY
The Nash speeds along a road heading into the woods.

12.
INT. NASH SPECIAL SIX - DAY
In the back, Tommy GROANS in pain as Roland uses tweezers to
extract the bullet from his behind.
Almost...

ROLAND

Tommy grits his teeth, as Roland removes the bullet.

There!

ROLAND

Tommy sighs and sits down.

TOMMY
Well, I know that didn't go as we
planned, but hey, we're all alive.
RUBY
What about Jimmy?
TOMMY
Right, right. Boy, that's a...a
real damn shame, you know. But you
know, he believed in us. And I know
we'll all miss him.
MAURA
I don't. He always bugged me. I'm
glad he died instead of any of you.
TOMMY
Well, Maura, that's not really
respectful of the dead, but I'm
sure all of us remaining appreciate
it.
Tommy looks out the window.
TOMMY
Whatre we doing in the woods?
JONAS
We need to hide out, dont we? I
have a friend, Mike Pipper, with a
cabin out here. Don't worry, he's
one of those types who hates the
government and banks, he'll give us
a royal welcome.

13.
INT. CABIN - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
They step into the cabin; it's a mess, with spider-webs,
things thrown about, and some birds on the furniture. Maura
walks further in while the other hang back.
JONAS
I should mention, it's been, uh,
some time since my last visit. It
seems Mike's vacated the premises.
MAURA (OS)
No, he's right here, Jonas.
INT. CABIN - KITCHEN - NIGHT
They walk in.
TOMMY
Listen pal your place is a-AHH!
Lying on the floor is Mike Pipper's BODY, which has been
through several months of decomposition. A jar of moonshine
is on the table.
MAURA
Heh, I said it like he was still
alive. That's irony, right Jonas?
JONAS
Well, not quite my dear, butTOMMY
God damn it, Jonas, first a bank
that's already been robbed and now
you bring us to some sort of death
cabin! What good are you, aside
from getting rid of liquor?
RUBY
He said he get us to someplace safe
and he did. You're supposed to be
leader of this gang, so if we
should blame anyone it should be
you!
TOMMY
Hiding behind your maid, Jonas?
Ruby begins to walk to Tommy with a determined look on her
face, but Jonas stops her.

14.
JONAS
I believe hunger is making us
irascible. Mike had a cellar that
I'm sure is still full of
preserves.
Ruby and Tommy are still glaring, but walk away.
EXT. CABIN - WEREWOLF POV - NIGHT
From behind trees, something watches the group. Tommy is
fiddling with the MOTOROLA (an early car radio), and the rest
stand over a newly-dug grave.
EXT. CABIN - NIGHT
Roland pounds on the dirt with his shovel while Jonas, Ruby,
and Maura stand over.
JONAS
And finally, though he was loathe
to share it, Mike had a remarkable
singing voice. I, uh, don't suppose
anyone else has anything to say...
MAURA
(clears throat)
I didn't meet Mike until he was a
skeleton. He made Tommy scream,
which was funny.
JONAS
Yes, well, amen.
TOMMY
Hey guys, over here!
They walk over.
NEWSCASTER
(on car radio)
-countinues to blanketed by dust,
with no end in sight. Meanwhile,
America continues to be terrorized
in a crime wave unseen since the
days of the Old West!
TOMMY
I think they're going to mention us
holding up that gas station.

15.
NEWSCASTER
In Missouri, Baby Face Nelson
intercepted a Federal Reserve
shipment, killing three bystanders.
In East Texas, Bonnie and Clyde
shot and killed two Texas Rangers.
And in Kansas, John Dillinger
walked out of the First National
Bank with $50,000
TOMMY
Heheh, that aboy John.
NEWSCASTER
Elsewhere in Kansas, a small bank
was held up by a new group of
thieves, known as the Tommy Preston
Gang. It seems the folks didn't
know the bank had already been
robbed. They got away, well, most
of them. In these grim times, let's
hope we hear more from Pantsless
Tommy Preston.
The newscaster LAUGHS before Tommy turns it off.
JONAS
Well, we got mentioned.
That's...something, right?
ROLAND
This gang....it does not seem to be
working out, am I right? Perhaps we
should go separate ways?
TOMMY
You want out, Roland? You want to
go back to hanging out at some
circus to get gawked at?
ROLAND
I was justTOMMY
Anyone who wants to leave, leave!
More money and glory for the rest
of us!
Tommy sulks off, dejectedly firing his gun into the air once.
JONAS
I suppose someone should talk to
him.

16.
All raise their fingers to their noses.
ALL EXCEPT RUBY
One-two-three not it!
RUBY
Not... ah nuts.
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
Tommy is sitting on the ground dejectedly, flipping pebbles,
then shooting them.
Hey.

RUBY

TOMMY
Hey. You want to leave?
RUBY
That's Jonas' decision. You know I
go where he goes.
TOMMY
Don't evade the question. Come on,
I want your opinion.
Ruby squats down, like she was to talk to a child.
RUBY
Well, we've been at this for a
month and the thing we're most
known for is you losing your pants.
TOMMY
I didn't lose them! They fell down
but I still have them!
RUBY
My point is, would just going back
home be the worst thing?
TOMMY
Go home. Yeah, after all those of
years of talking big, about how I
was going to be the baddest crook
since Jesse James... to just be
some nobody in some hick town no
ones heard of.
RUBY
There are worse ways to end up, you
know. Some of us ain't got homes to
go back to.

17.
TOMMY
Yeah, but...Jesus, I spent all my
life dreaming, and it's over in a
month?
EXT. CABIN - NIGHT
Roland stirs the pot while singing a Hungarian folk song.
Jonas and Maura sit at the fire.
MAURA
How did Mike die Jonas? Did he get
eaten by a bear?
JONAS
No, I'm afraid, like so many men,
Mike sewed the seeds of his own
destruction. That last batch of
moonshine he brewed turned
poisonous.
A growl is heard.
JONAS
Hmm, somebody's hungry.
MAURA
That wasn't me.
Nor I.

ROLAND

JONAS
Hmm. Well I guess some wild beast
is behind us.
As Jonas chuckles, a figure emerges from the dark behind him.
It is a WEREWOLF. It stands at 8 ft., and has silver-grayish
hair. It's bipedal, and has a humanoid body, but the head is
that of a massive wolf, with pupil-less eyes, and hands with
clawed fingers. Despite its size, it appears thin and
malnourished.
ROLAND
(in Hungarian)
Mary Mother of God...
The beast is approaching Maura, who's frozen in a state of
shock.
Roland launches himself at the Werewolf, knocking it to the
ground. Jonas and Maura run.

18.
Roland punches its face, but it then SMACKS him away with its
arm.
Tommy and Ruby rush up.
RUBY
What the hell is that?
JONAS
Hell would appear to be the
opportune word, my dear.
TOMMY
Get the guns.
Jonas opens the trunk and tosses tommy guns to the rest.
TOMMY
Hey, Rin Tin Tin!
They open FIRE on the Werewolf.
The Werewolf is hit several times, and runs for cover.
Come on.

TOMMY

The gang fans out into the woods.

Tommy hears a growling, and looks up. The Werewolf leaps down
on him. He aims his gun, but the Werewolf grabs it and snaps
it in two. The Werewolf then growls at Tommy until Ruby
SHOOTS an ear off.
The Werewolf wails about while Ruby helps Tommy up.
RUBY
We're running low on bullets.
JONAS
If we can't kill it, perhaps we
could trap it. Mike's cellar would
make an effective enclosure.
TOMMY
And how do we get it there?
Jonas looks at the fire.
The Werewolf pounces near them, snarling. Ruby sticks a FIERY
TORCH in its face. It recoils.
Tommy and Roland join Ruby, with their own torches. They
corral the Werewolf towards the cabin.

19.
The Werewolf realizes it's being put in a corner. It sticks
its foot out and TRIPS them. It then kicks up a layer of dust
that extinguishes the torches.
The Werewolf advances on the three, when a JUG is thrown at
its feet, which EXPLODES on impact, releasing a mist. The
Werewolf is disoriented by the blast, and another jug is
thrown, and another.
Throwing the jugs are Maura and Jonas, very much enjoying
themselves.
JONAS
Ol' Mike's did always pack a punch!
The Werewolf is overwhelmed by the fumes, and is staggering
near the cellar.
Now!

RUBY

Roland and Tommy push the Werewolf into the cellar. They shut
the door, and Roland places a boulder on top of it.
They all wait, to see if there's any reaction. There's not.
The gang collapses in exhaustion.
INSERT: The sun rises.
EXT. CABIN - DAY
It's early morning, and the gang is packing up, save for
Tommy, who is looking at the cellar.
RUBY
This'd go faster if you'd help,
Tommy.
TOMMY
I was just thinking...If we killed
that thing, took its body...god,
think of it, the reputation we'd
get!
RUBY
You dumb ape, we didn't have any
luck killing it last night!
TOMMY
We can't hear it walking around, it
must be unconscious still. We open
it and pump it full of lead, no
animal would be able to survive.

20.
He looks at the others.
Well?

TOMMY

JONAS
Hmm, it would be quite a morale
booster for our group.
EXT. CABIN - CELLAR - DAY
The gang stands by the cellar with tommy guns. Maura holds a
string tied to the cellar door.
Ready...

TOMMY

They lift the guns.

Aim...

TOMMY

They aim. Maura pulls the strings and the door OPENS.
INSERT: Lying on the cellar floor is an unconscious 12 year
old GIRL dressed in a dirty, torn, casual dress.
TOMMY
Stop! Stop! Don't shoot!
The gang put down their guns and crowd around the cellar
door. Ruby goes down into the cellar.
ROLAND
I did not see anyone in here last
night.
Ruby checks the girl.
RUBY
She's alive. There's nothing else
here.
MAURA
Where did that wolf monster go?
JONAS
I suppose, a creature like that,
unknown to science, could possess
fantastic abilities.
RUBY
We can speculate later, what are we
going to do with this girl?

21.
RUBY (CONT'D)
We can't leave her here, especially
with that thing around.
TOMMY
And do what? We can't just go to
the police and walk away.
MAURA
Ding dong ditch.
What?

TOMMY

MAURA
We drop the kid at the station,
ring the doorbell and run.
TOMMY
Yeah...that could work.
Ruby comes up carrying the child.
Good lord.

RUBY

The group looks. The girl's body is covered in BLACK TATTOOED

SYMBOLS.
EXT. SMALL TOWN - DAY
Blue Skies by Al Jolson plays.
The gang in their car enters a town that's been hit hard by
the Depression. Shops are closed and boarded up, people wait
in line for a soup kitchen, others wander the streets drunk,
etc.
INT. NASH SPECIAL SIX - DAY
The gang sits in the car, with the girl in the back laid on
Ruby and Maura's laps.
MAURA
Boy, this cheerful song really
serves as an ironic contrast with
our harsh economic reality.
Tommy turns the radio off and the song stops.
The girl begins to stir.
RUBY
She's waking up.

22.
TOMMY
What? Quick, sing her a lullaby or
something.
JONAS
Ooh I have one.
(in smooth, quiet voice)
Oh, a drink in the morning is good
for the sight, and twenty or thirty
between that and nightTOMMY
That's a drinking song youGIRL
Wh-where am I? Who are you people?
The gang are silent for a moment.
TOMMY
We're, ummm, park rangers.
GIRL
I think you're bank robbers.
TOMMY
(laughing)
Bank Robbers? Where'd you get a
silly idea like that?
GIRL
Your clothes. Your guns. That
picture on the dashboard of you
robbing a bank.
INSERT: A photo of Tommy proudly smiling with a gun, standing
at a bank window next to a scared teller.
TOMMY
Damn. Sorry guys that's on me.
RUDY
Look, we don't want to hurt you. We
found you in a cabin, how'd you get
there?
GIRL
I...I don't know. Sometimes I end
up places, and I don't know how I
got there.
JONAS
Do you have parents, siblings,
someone to take care of you?

23.

No...

GIRL

TOMMY
Well, don't worry, we're going to
give you to the police, they'll
find you a home.
No!

GIRL

MAURA
Oh, are you on the run, too?
GIRL
No, it's just...I'm hungry. I want
something to eat first.
TOMMY
The cops will get you something.
GIRL
Get me some pancakes or I'll tell
the cops about you.
TOMMY
What? You wouldnt you littleTry me.

GIRL

Tommy looks at the gang.

JONAS
Tommy, I believe we're licked.
Tommy angrily turns the steering wheel.
TOMMY
(angrily)
Let's get some pancakes!
EXT. DINER - DAY
The Nash pulls into a space.
INT. NASH SPECIAL SIX - DAY
The gang huddles.
TOMMY
All right, only one of us needs to
escort this brat. Ruby, you're the
least likely to be recognized.

24.
RUBY
Why's that?
TOMMY
Well, youre blackRUBY
All black women look alike?
TOMMY
Yeah, exactly.
Ruby groans and walks out with the girl. Grace bumps into a
WEALTHY DOWAGER exiting.
MAURA
So, what do you think happened to
the wolf monster?
ROLAND
I think it just went to get
pancakes.
What?

TOMMY

ROLAND
When my grandfather was a boy,
there was a rash of killings in the
village. Children were found in the
woods, their bodies mangled and
torn, as if by some huge wolf.
Finally, the men scoured the woods,
and found a monstrous beast. They
shot out its left eye, and followed
its trail of blood to-hey, hey!
Tommy is looking the other way out the window.
TOMMY
Oh sorry, I saw a dog and a cat
being friends. Go on, trail of
blood.
ROLAND
They tracked it to a house, and
found a man they all knew and
respected, lying on the floor, his
left eye blown out!
JONAS
Are you suggesting that beast and
that young girl are one and the
same?

25.
MAURA
Roland. The Principle of Mass
Conservation would make it
impossible for that small girl to
transform into that huge monster.
TOMMY
Yeah, Roland, the fucking principle
of mass conservation! We have to
think scientifically. Obviously,
some guy fucked a wolf, and this
was the result. Read Darwin.
MAURA
How do you know it wasn't a woman
who had sex with a male wolf?
TOMMY
Well, thats just disgusting, Maura
INT. DINER - DAY
The girl, sitting at a booth, is going to town on a plate of
pancakes, not using forks or a knife, while Ruby sits on the
other side and watches.
RUBY
They have forks here, you know.
The girl doesn't reply.
RUBY
So, you have a name?
GIRL
Maya Buttreeks.
RUBY
Hmm. Anyway, I know how tough
having no family can be.
I get by.

GIRL

RUBY
Youre on your own, no money, spent
last night in a cellar and youre
scared of cops.
GIRL
I aint scared of nothing! I sat
through Frankenstein, King Kong,
and three and a half Joan Crawford
movies! Sides, Im a master thief.

26.
GIRL (CONT'D)
Look what I scored from that fat
broad.
The girl reaches into her pocket and pulls out a gold
POCKETWATCH. A hand reaches over and grabs it, as well as the
girls wrist.
WEALTHY DOWAGER
Aha! Once I realized this was
missing I knew that unseemlylooking child must be responsible.
When the police get word of thisRUBY
That aint your watch, lady.
WEALTHY DOWAGER
Really? I suppose youre the one
who lead this girl into dishonor. A
fine way for your kind to show
gratitude after all weve done for
you.
Ruby is silent, then slowly leans in.
RUBY
All right, I admit, this is your
watch. Im a thief...a thief with a
gun. And if you make a big fuss,
well, Ill just panic so much, I
dont what Ill do.
The Wealthy Dowager thinks for a moment.
WEALTHY DOWAGER
Hmmph. Well, Ive never. I dont
care if that watch contains the
only photo of my father, Im not
spending another minute in this
establishment.
She walks away indignantly.
GIRL
You were going to shoot that lady
for me?

Beat.

RUBY
Ha! Course not. I just a know a
scared white lady when I see one.
GIRL
Grace. My name is Grace.

27.
RUBY
Grace, huh? I had an aunt named
Grace.
Really?

GRACE

RUBY
Yeah. She was a fat old woman who
always yelled and choked to death
on the toilet while eating a pot
roast.
GRACE
Hmm. Thats how I hope I go out.
The two smile at each other.
Watching them is a MR. HOYT (53, white) an old bald man with
glasses. He shows signs of recognition. He opens his
SCRAPBOOK, all of which contain articles and wanted posters
of black woman criminals. He finally comes onto one of Ruby,
with a reward offer of $200.
EXT. DINER - DAY
Ruby and Grace walk out.
As they walk to the car, Gosling and police surround them.
GOSLING
Hands up, all of you! Out of the
car.
Tommy and the others slowly leave the car with hands up.
GOSLING
Well Tommy, it's been a fun
rollercoaster, but we're finally at
grandma's house.
What?

TOMMY

A officer roughly handles Ruby while handcuffing her. She

grunts.
COP
Hey, shut up ya crow!
GRACE
Leave her alone.

28.
The cop forces her onto the front of the car. She cringes in
pain.
GRACE
(deep, otherworldly voice)
I said leave her alone!
To the astonishment of everyone, Grace TRANSFORMS, her
clothes and skin subsumed in hair as she rapidly grows, her
face twisting out, becoming the Werewolf. However, she looks
different than before: stronger, more healthy.
She lifts up the cop and THROWS him across the street, where
he lands on an awning above a store.
The Werewolf looks down at Ruby, who's scared. The Werewolf
reaches down, but instead of assaulting her breaks the
handcuffs.
Tommy, seeing Gosling and the cops are in shock, shoves the
cop nearest to him and grabs his gun.
The cops start firing. The Werewolf dodges the bullets and
SLASHES their hands, causing them to drop the guns.
TOMMY
Everyone into the car!
A cop aims at the Werewolf's back. Tommy shoots the cops
hand, causing him to drop his gun.
They get into the car and drive away, dodging bullets. The
Werewolf chases after them and jumps into the car.
INT. NASH SPECIAL SIX - DAY
Tommy grabs Grace's arm.
TOMMY
You little liar, you knew all along
you were that thing! You tried to
kill us last night!
GRACE
Blow it out your ass, I was hungry.
I was only going to kill you if you
didnt get out of my way. Anyways,
thanks for the grub, have fun in
jail.
JONAS
Hold on, my dear. I think you
should reconsider.

29.
GRACE
What are you talking about?
TOMMY
Yeah, Jonas, what?
JONAS
You saw how she dealt with those
officers, and we all know
personally what its like to face
her, um, ugly side. Perhaps this is
just what we need.
TOMMY
You mean...let her join the gang?
GRACE
'Let me'? Why would I want to join
you idiots?
JONAS
Food, clothes, and frankly, dear,
you seem like someone who likes
spreading hell.
Grace thinks about it.
GRACE
All right, but I get a 25% cut of
everything we take.
TOMMY
Why that'sJONAS
Acceptable. Welcome to the Tommy
Preston Gang my dear.
INT. J. EDGAR HOOVER'S OFFICE - DAY
Ryan Gosling sits nervously, like a student called to the
principals office.
J. EDGAR HOOVER (38) paces behind his desk with a newspaper
in hand.
HOOVER
Damn it, Gosling, I know this is
your first case but after a month I
want some results!

30.
GOSLING
I'm sorry Uncle Edgar, but Tommy
Preston is the greatest thief since
Billy the Kid; he's a criminal
genius!
Hoover looks at the newspaper, showing the photo of Tommy
pantsless.
HOOVER
Well...be that as it may, I have
serious concerns, especially this
latest report. And it's Director
Hoover while you're on the job!
GOSLING
But Unc-Director Hoover, it's true.
The girl transformed into what my
sources assure me is a Werewolf.
Sources?

HOOVER

GOSLING
Uh, Billy Jensen. He's a 10-year
old who lives next door to me, he
has a book about monstersHOOVER
Ryan, I think I gave you too much
to do. You seem to be cracking
under the pressure. Do you know
what it would do to the Bureau's
reputation if this got out?
GOSLING
But what about the police?
HOOVER
I'm not interested in the reports
of obviously drunken hillbillies.
You're an agent, you're supposed to
be better. Keep quiet about
vampires and such and get me
results!
A crushed Gosling gets up and leaves.
EXT. FIELD - DAY
Its dusk. Ruby and Grace are outside the car. Roland cooks
and Maura draws in the dirt with a stick while Tommy (holding
up a newspaper) and Jonas argue in the distance.

31.
GRACE
Whats their problem?
RUBY
Arguing about what bank to rob, I
guess.
TOMMY
(from a distance)
I will piss on your mothers grave,
old man!
GRACE
Sounds like a bad one.
RUBY
Tommy talks big, but hed never get
rid of Jonas. The man rode with
Butch Cassidy, you know.
She motions at Roland.
GRACE
Whats his story?
RUBY
Thats Roland. He was a strongman
in the circus, and a doctor during
the war.
Really?

GRACE

ROLAND
(uninterested)
I am Roland, strongest man in the
world.
And her?

GRACE

INSERT: Mauras stick drawing shows a Picasso-esqe picture,

but with everyone having happy faces smiling.
RUBY
Maura is...Maura.
GRACE
And what about you?
RUBY
Me? I just go with Jonas.
Tommy and Jonas march back to the group, both still angry.

32.
JONAS
Its nothing short of suicide!
RUBY
What is it this time?
TOMMY
They just opened this new bank,
Kenton. Supposed to be unrobbable.
Perfect way to get back on top.
JONAS
That bank has the latest in
defense, and they have Youngman and
Son.
Who?

GRACE

JONAS
A ruthless relic from the old west.
Lives to kill, one of the most
dangerous individuals on this
planet. And his son, who I haven't
met.
RUBY
Look Tommy, maybe we should work up
to it, start with knocking over
some gas-stationsTOMMY
No! We gotta do something big,
something that'll grab attention!
GRACE
I think hes right.
TOMMY
Shut up, kids dont get any say inwait, Im right?
GRACE
Yeah. I want to start my bank
robbing career with a bang.
TOMMY
See? Thats whats been wrong with
this gang. You people are all old
and scared. We need new blood, like
Georgina here.
Grace.

GRACE

33.
TOMMY
Right, right.
INT. HUXLEY COLLEGE - CLASSROOM - DAY
Its a typical classroom of an Ivy league school. A STUDENT
is standing up, reading aloud from a paper.
STUDENT
...and so, with its fabulous seas,
majestic mountains, and five
flavors of ice cream, Americas
future will see only greatness
Some scattered applause. PROFESSOR DOMINIC KINCAID (55) a
large man in both size and personality, waits for it to die
down.
KINCAID
Yes, very...interesting points,
Harold. But I feel you overlooked
some things. You didnt mention the
Depression, for example.
STUDENT
Depression? Oh its okay, the
electroshock therapy fixed that.
KINCAID
Very good, Harold, you may sit.
He does so. Kincaid starts to pace.
KINCAID
I know its hard to imagine a
cataclysm. But they do happen. Rome
fell. The Ottoman Empire ended
after 600 years. Whos to say
America isnt in her twilight?
Silence for a moment.
KINCAID
Yes, grim words I realize. I do not
say this to discourage you, to make
you give up. Quite the opposite. I
believe a nation's fortune is tied
to its youth. The solutions to
these problems will be found by
you, the next generation.

34.
INT. HUXLEY COLLEGE - HALLWAY - DAY
Kincaid walks through the hallway, surrounded by and
chatting with fellow teachers and guests. He enters his
office.
INT. HUXLEY COLLEGE - KINCAID'S OFFICE - DAY
Kincaid plops down in his chair.
Lillian walks in, her face covered in a WHITE MASK, wheeling
in a dinner tray.
MISS REID
Your lunch is ready, sir.
KINCAID
Smells delicious.
MISS REID
Youll have to finish it soon, Im
afraid. Your meeting with the dean
is at 3.
Kincaid starts to eat.
MISS REID
I was on the phone. Your partners
are concerned about whether well
find her in time. Theyve asked for
Agent Miller to be dispatched. I
told them he was in China at the
present, but I expect youll have
to deal with them face to face
soon.
KINCAID
Oh, what a bunch of old women Ive
allied myself with. The nerve of
them, bothering you when youve
already given so much, lost so much
for thisMISS REID
I knew what I was getting into,
sir. I would do it all again.
Kincaid calms down and smiles at her, before leaning back.
KINCAID
And I appreciate it, my dear. We
will find her. With the fate of
America hanging on it, we have no
other choice.

35.
INT. KENTON BANK - LOBBY - DAY
The bank is modern, clean, an art-deco aesthetic. In the
center stands a 20-FT MARBLE STATUE of an awkward, gawky man
with poor posture, bad hair and glasses, 'Our Founder' carved
at the bottom.
Standing on a chair is HANGMAN YOUNGMAN (60), who shows no
sign of acknowledging the Wild West is over. He dresses like
Wyatt Earp, has a wild beard, and eyes that convey
intelligence and ruthlessness. Right now he's carving
something.
On the other side stands SON (26), dressed nicely with a
handlebar mustache.
Tommy, Ruby, Roland and Grace are watching them as they walk
up to the window.
BANK TELLER
Hello, how may I help you?
TOMMY
I'd like to make a withdrawal.
Tommy pulls out his gun and fires into the air.
TOMMY
Attention! AttentGUNFIRE bursts out at the gang, who barely have time to duck.
The bullets blow chunks of the teller table. One big chunk
hits Grace's forehead, knocking her out.
Grace!

RUBY

Ruby and Roland grab Grace as the group goes for cover.
TOMMY
C'mon Grace no time to sleep!
ROLAND
You don't understand what being
unconscious means, do you?
Youngman and Son start to converge on them. Ruby opens fire
and they duck.
Tommy grabs Grace and lifts her up.
TOMMY
We got a hostage!

36.
Youngman and Son lower their weapons.
Tommy aims his gun at a bank teller.
TOMMY
Get me the manager!
INT. KENTON BANK - OUTSIDE OF VAULT - DAY
THE BANK MANAGER is opening the vault. Tommy and the gang are
still nervous, Youngman and Son eyeing them.
RUBY
(to Roland)
She going to be all right?
Not sure.

ROLAND

The vault door opens.

INT. KENTON BANK - VAULT - DAY
The gang walks in.
TOMMY
What the hell?
The room is empty, and at the other end is a another vault
door. Behind them, the vault door closes. The manager runs
for it, and Tommy and Ruby follow him intoINT. KENTON BANK - 2ND VAULT - DAY
Tommy and Ruby run in to an identical room, but through that
vault door is the MONEY. However, it closes just after the
manager gets through. The vault door behind them closes too.
Ruby goes around the room, trying to find an escape. Tommy
just sits down and sulks.
TOMMY
Ah well, maybe prison isnt as bad
as people always make it out to be.
RUBY
Oh shut up! You're supposed to be
our leader, so act like it, damn
it!
Tommy reaches into his pocket and pulls out STICKS OF
DYNAMITE.

37.
RUBY
You had dynamite?
TOMMY
Yeah but no match.
Ruby thinks and looks down at the floor. She reaches in her
pocket and pulls out a pocket knife, then starts needling the
floor with it.
TOMMY
What are youRUBY
If we're lucky, there's Quartzite
in the flooringSparks start flying. Tommy holds the end of the dynamite and
it lights.
TOMMY
Damn Ruby, you're, really, uh,
smart.
RUBY
Huh? Thanks. How long do we have to
wait?
TOMMY
A while. The payoff, though, it's
going to beThe bank vault opens. Tommy and Ruby hug in triumph.
Triumph which vanishes when Youngman and Son are standing
right outside.
The back vault door opens, and a growling Werewolf steps in.
Youngman and Son lose their dead expressions for a moment,
but then FIRE! It hits the Werewolf's shoulder and she howls
in pain.
She reaches out and grabs Youngman then TOSSES HIM away.
Son aims and shoots her ear off.
The Werewolf staggers; Son aims for a killing shot but Roland
punches him in the back of the head.
The gang gathers the loot.

38.
INT. KENTON BANK - LOBBY - DAY
The gang rushes out, carrying sacks of money.
TOMMY
Come on, let'sA LASSO wraps itself around the Werewolf.
Youngman is holding the rope and a cigar. He manages to hold
as the Werewolf tries to wrestle free.
Youngman manipulates it so the Werewolf corals the gang into
one spot.
A SHOT hits the BANK CHANDELIER, sending it landing on the
Werewolf, trapping it and the others.
Youngman and Son advance on the gang members whenAn explosion, followed by a VAULT DOOR shooting out and going
right through the legs of the statue.
A shadow covers Youngman and Son, and they have no time to
flee before SPLAT!
The gang stares for a moment before running out.
INT. KINCAID MANSION - LIVING ROOM - DAY
The enormous room is white, and devoid of even a speck of
dust. The room is decorated with art and artifacts from
throughout the world; some benign, but others seem sinister.
Kincaid sits in a fancy chair reading a book.
A tall, dour BUTLER arrives, followed by Agent Gosling.
BUTLER
Agent Gosling is here, sir.
KINCAID
Ah, excellent Richards, just
excellent.
Kincaid rises and greets Gosling.
KINCAID
Dominic Kincaid. Im so glad you
could make it on such short notice,
I hope I didnt interrupt anything.

39.
GOSLING
Well, I was inventorying my stamp
collection, but that can wait.
The two sit. Kincaid pours two glasses of wine.
GOSLING
This is about my report?
KINCAID
Yes. You see, I represent a...a
certain government agency that
covers such events as, say, little
girls turning into wolves.
GOSLING
You mean you...believe me?
KINCAID
Oh quite. Weve been tracking this
girl for some time now. Now that
shes thrown in with this band of
malcontents, I thought we could
collaborate.
Kincaid hands the wine glass to Gosling, who declines.
GOSLING
Uh, do you have any chocolate milk?
KINCAID
Uh, Ill have Richards check.
GOSLING
Anyway, Id love to, but UncDirector Hoover is pretty upset
with me. I think Im being taken
off the case.
KINCAID
Oh, I talked with Edgar earlier,
hes fine with this.
GOSLING
Really? How would this work?
KINCAID
Well, Ill give you a special squad
of my best men. A hundred to start
with more to come later. Youll
have our full resources and the
most up-to-date technology.

40.
KINCAID (CONT'D)
Anything else you need, well pay
for it. How do you like the sound
of that?
Gosling is silent.
KINCAID
Agent Gosling?
GOSLING
Oh sorry I was just looking at...
Gosling motions and Kincaid turns around too see an idol of a
well-endowed fertility god.
Oh.

KINCAID

GOSLING
But yes, I accept.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
The Nash speeds down, bills flying out the window.
INT. NASH SPECIAL SIX - DAY
The gang is ecstatic as they lay the money around them,
throwing it up and such.
TOMMY
Yahoo! We're in the money, just
like that popular song!
RUBY
I'm going to buy a diamond to clean
my toenails!
Tommy reaches back and ruffles Grace's hair.
RUBY
They shot out your eye, howGRACE
Once I change back any wounds
vanish.
TOMMY
Hey, I know this is the adrenaline
talking, but there's a bank two
miles from here, what do you say we
rob it?
Everyone CHEERS affirmatively.

41.
MONTAGE - PRESTON GANGS CRIME SPREE

-A NEWSPAPER spins up with the headline 'Tommy Preston Gang
Strikes Again!' There's also an editorial column, 'If You Ask
Me' which says 'Girl Can Turn Into Wolf? Who Cares?'

GOSLING
Come out with your hands up!
At a bank behind them, the gang casually exit, none of the
agents turning around.

GOSLING
All right men, one, two, threeThey KICK in the door, only to find a NAKED FAT MAN dressed
as a baby being spanked by several beautiful woman.
GOSLING
Uh, my apologies, Mr. Mayor.
-Ruby and the Werewolf rob a Klan meeting.

headline 'Is Nothing Sacred?' Theres another If You Ask Me
editorial, Lets see a girl change into a cocktail waitress
that minds her own damned business.
-At a young girls beauty contest, the contestants stand
helplessly as Tommy and Grace (in Werewolf form, still
wearing a dress and the winning tiara) walk off with cash.
-Gosling walks proudly, escorting someone out of view.
GOSLING
Well it was a long run Tommy, but
you couldnt keep it up forever.
Tommy is revealed to be an OVERWEIGHT HISPANIC gentlemen
wearing Tommys clothes, counting a wad of bills.
HISPANIC GENTLEMAN
Si. I mean, yee-haw.

42.
-In the Nash (Tommy and Ruby are in the front seats, Tommy
driving, while the other four sit in the back), they pass an
ice cream truck.
GRACE
Hey, can we rob that ice cream
truck?
TOMMY
Youre going to eat all that ice
cream yourself?
MAURA
Ill have some.

Sounds good

ROLAND

Me too.

JONAS

TOMMY
Come on guys, the bank closes at 4.
RUBY
And Grace, you already had two
candy bars for breakfast.

EXT. GREEN ARROW - NIGHT
A typical 30s bar, with signs Voted Most Law-Abiding Bar
1927 and Crooked Cops Only, Please

43.
INT. GREEN ARROW - NIGHT
A celebration is going on, and the gang is the center of it.
Tommy walks through the room receiving congratulations. An
old lanky blind man, JOHNNY LATOS, grabs his arm.
JOHNNY LATOS
Congratulations my friend.
TOMMY
Ah thanks Johnny.
JOHNNY LATOS
You know, I know you had a lot of
shit thrown your way, son, but I
always knew, there was something
there, some spark. I said, just
you watch, little Dickie Nixon is
going to be somebody.
TOMMY
Uh, Johnny, this is Tommy Preston.
JOHNNY LATOS
Tommy Preston?! What, they
Frankenstein you a new brain-er, I
mean, uh, good work, boy.
An annoyed Tommy walks away.
Grace sits at the front of the bar, talking to ERNIE
KOWALSKI, a classic American bartender, bald, pudgy with a
friendly face made of granite.
GRACE
Its called a Witchs Titty. 2
ounces gin, 1 ounch Irish Whiskey,
1 teaspoon of apple juice, and just
a pinch of vodka.
Coming up.

ERNIE

JONAS
Ernie, this is a child. Just plain
beer.
MAURA
Hey, the speech is starting!
Everyone gathers around the radio.

44.
CONGRESSMAN SKINNER
(on radio)
Tommy Preston is the worst menace
this great nation has ever
produced.
Everyone cheers.
CONGRESSMAN SKINNER
Not only has he robbed our beloved
banks, he has mocked the police by
not allowing them to arrest him. He
is ruining our values, creating a
nation where children would rather
play bank robber than do chores and
respect the elderly.
TOMMY
Woo-hoo! Take that old people!
CONGRESSMAN SKINNER
He has even transgressed against
the most basic laws of man and God
by engaging in race mixing with
that Negro woman! Oh and the whole
werewolf thing.
Everyone turns to look at Tommy and Ruby.
TOMMY
Thats crazy. I would never, just
neverRUBY
Damn right you would never. Im not
going to jail for taking advantage
of a moron.
TOMMY
You-you-I-this is stupid.
Everything is stupid.
He takes out a machine gun and fires at the radio, destroying
it. The shooting continues, taking out several bottles and a
signed picture of Eleanor Roosevelt.
EXT. KINCAID MANOR - DAY
It is a bright day, and theres a Halloween festival going
on, with tons of kids running around and laughing.
D.B. TAYLOR (51), a large imposing man in a Business suit,
surveys the area.

45.
TAYLOR
Where the hell is he?
Childrens laughter causes him to turn.
Kincaid, dressed in a magicians garb, performs before a
group of children, putting a rabbit into a top hat, then
showing the children the empty hat.
KINCAID
As you can see, Autolycus has
vanished from our Earthly realm.
However, as his supper time is
coming up, I think we should bring
him back...
He reaches in and pulls out...nothing. He looks shocked.
KINCAID
Oh no, oh no...this horrible.
Autolycus is lost somewhere beyond
our understanding, itsTheres movement in Kincaids pants. The children laugh.
KINCAID
Why are you laughing, this is a
horrible state of affairs, I-IKincaid looks down, then reaches into his pants and pulls out
Autolycus. The children clap.
Taylor arrive.
KINCAID
Well hello there kids. Want to see
a magic trick?
TAYLOR
You know what Im here for,
Kincaid.
KINCAID
Yes, yes. Just a moment children, I
have to deal with grown up
business.
INT. KINCAID MANOR - LIVING ROOM - DAY
The two walk in.
KINCAID
A simple trick but the children
love it.

46.
KINCAID (CONT'D)
Perhaps they recognize the
symbolism: a version of journeying
into the underworld before
returning to life. Or maybe they
just think the bunny is cute.
TAYLOR
Screw the bunny. Its been months
and that wolf girl of yours is
still free. I agreed to back this
venture because you presented
yourself as a man of competence,
and yet youre unable to round up
this band of hicks!
Kincaid stares at him sternly.
TAYLOR
I...I didnt mean any offenseKINCAID
No, its quite all right. I admit
this Gosling has not worked out as
I had hoped.
Kincaid picks up a newspaper, the headline of which reads
Tommy Preston Escapes Again with the sub headline He said
he just had to go to the bathroom' says agent.
TAYLOR
Listen, what about that ace agent
of yours, Millman or something?
KINCAID
Trent Miller? He's been in China
for the past two months
investigating a smuggling ring, but
he should be on top of that by now.
INT. DEATH HOUSE - CRYPT - DAY
In a dark, stone crypt, TRENT MILLER's eyes open. He looks to
be in his late 20s/early 30s, handsome, no-nonsense, and a
dress style you could set your watch to.
The room is filled with radio static, followed byDR. ZHANG
(OS, on com)
Ah, awake at last.
MILLER
Dr. Zhang, I presume?

47.
DR. ZHANG
Yes. I've been watching you for
some time, Mr. Miller.
Lights go on, leading to an elevator.
DR. ZHANG
Please, join me upstairs.
Cautiously, Miller walks towards the elevator. He steps on a
stone, and arrows shoot out of the walls, just missing him.
DR. ZHANG
I should mention, one in every four
tiles leads to what I like to call
'a test of skill.'
He steps on a stone, and it and others crumble. Miller falls
but grabs a long metal rod sticking out of the exposed floor.
Below, alligators hungrily watch him. One jumps up but not
far enough.
The rod is sliding off, and Miller tips over. An alligator
jumps up, and this time is just inches away from his feet.
Miller looks at the rod, and pulls it out, falling below.
He lands on an alligator, and uses the rod to pole-vault
himself back up onto the ground.
DR. ZHANG
(laughs)
Very impressive! I think you're
ready for a real challenge!
A column rises suddenly out of the ground, followed by others
from all sides of the room. The room is being filled up.
Miller runs for the elevator, as the room gets smaller and
smaller.
DR. ZHANG
Better hurry!
Miller is now crawling through a narrow passage, the elevator
near, but the entrance is closing.
INT. DEATH HOUSE - ELEVATOR - DAY
Miller gets into the elevator just as the entrance closes.
The elevator door closes and starts to go up.

48.
INT. DEATH HOUSE - GARDEN - DAY
The elevator opens and Miller walks out.
It's a indoor garden, with trees, a pond, and various
animals.
DR. ZHANG
Welcome to my garden. Serene, is it
not? You will find an entrance to
my room on the other side.
Miller walks across the garden, showing no interest in the
plants or wildlife. There's a growl.
Standing above on a ledge is a NIAN, a creature from Chinese
mythology that resembles a cross between a lion and a dog,
and which is larger than a tiger.
The Nian leaps down at Miller, who manages to move out of the
way just in time.
DR. ZHANG
Meet my Nian, a very rare specimen.
Be careful, he likes to play rough.
The Nian takes a SWIPE at Miller, the force of which sends
him across the garden, as well as tearing his clothes.
Before Miller can get up, the Nian grabs his neck by the
collar of his shirt and shakes it, playing with him like a
cat with a mouse. He tosses him a few feet away.
The Nian advances on Miller. Miller takes off his red tie.
Miller jumps onto the Nian, and wraps the tie around its
face, covering its eyes.
The Nian goes crazy, jumping up and shaking. Miller holds on
and manages to direct the beast, riding it across the garden.
The Nian increases in speed, until it HITS THE WALL, Miller
leaping off just before. The Nian moans and falls
unconscious.
DR. ZHANG
Very knowledgeable of you, Mr.
Miller, knowing the Nian is enraged
by the color red.
Miller walks up a large stair case.

49.
INT. DEATH HOUSE - STAIRCASE - DAY
Miller walks up the enormous, Gothic staircase, when a BEAM
OF BLUE ENERGY shoots at him.
Miller looks up to the top of the staircase to see DR. ZHANG
(84), an elderly Chinese man dressed in a royal Mandarin
costume, wearing a GAUNTLET, brimming with energy.
DR. ZHANG
You have provided me much
entertainment, Mr. Miller, but our
time is at an end.
He fires another beam.
DR. ZHANG
Tell me, Mr. Miller, was all this
worth a few artifacts?
MILLER
Those artifacts you stole belong to
the US by international law.
DR. ZHANG
Yes, priceless parts of our culture
and heritage, ending up in a museum
for white families to gawk at on a
Sunday afternoon.
He fires again.
DR. ZHANG
I am no fool, Mr. Miller. I know
the powers contained in these. And
I will use them to drive you
invaders out of my beloved country.
Miller pulls out an antique mirror, and holds it up to the
next beam, REFLECTING it, causing the beam to hit roof above
Zhang. Debris falls down on Zhang, pinning him to the ground.
INT. DEATH HOUSE - ZHANG'S ROOM - DAY
Zhang's room is a stylish mix of the old and new, ancient
Chinese art and artifacts alongside modern machines and
devices.
Walking up to the pinned Zhang, Miller first takes the
gauntlet off Zhang before helping the doctor up.

50.
ZHANG
You expect gratitude? Just kill me
and be done with it; others will
finish my work.
Miller ignores him and walks towards a cabinet.
MILLER
Once I inform my group as to this
location, others will arrive. You
will receive them, turn over your
collection, and assist us in
cataloging them.
DR. ZHANG
And why will I do this?
Miller puts on the Gauntlet, and blasts the cabinet.
No!

DR. ZHANG

A 7-YEAR OLD GIRL emerges from the smoking remains, coughing.

Miller grabs her and lifts her up. She futilely struggles.
Huiqing...

DR. ZHANG

MILLER
She's safe as long you cooperate,
understood?
Zhang, a look of anguish on his face, nods.
Miller walks out, dragging Huiqing, while Zhang sits
impotently.
HUIQING
(in Chinese)
Grandpa! Grandpa!
EXT. HOOVER FIELD - DAY
Hoover Field is a dismal airport, with short, unpaved runways
and numerous life-threatening obstructions around the field.
A small biplane comes into land and crashes into a nearby
burning garbage dump.
Kincaid and Gosling are on a runway where a larger plane has
a more successful landing.
GOSLING
So this Miller, hes going to be
like my assistant?

51.
KINCAID
Of a sort. I just want to assure
you we still have the greatest
confidence in you.
GOSLING
Were close to getting them, I feel
it. I would have gotten them
yesterday if they didnt put on
those Groucho glasses.
KINCAID
Wait, you saw them putting them on?
Miller walks towards them.
KINCAID
Ah, here he is now. Welcome back
Mr. Miller. I hope your trip to
China was invigorating.
Miller just shrugs. Gosling fake coughs.
KINCAID
Oh forgive me, this is Agent
Gosling from the Bureau of
Investigation. Hes been handling
matters while youve been gone.
GOSLING
Hi, Im sure well be best friends!
Gosling holds out his hand. After a moment, Miller
reluctantly shakes it, something Gosling finds uncomfortable.
GOSLING
Wow, thats some grip. What my dad
used to call a good sons grip.
So, whats your favorite Little
Rascals movie?
Miller glares.
EXT. CARNIVAL - DAY
You know what a carnival looks like, it's like that, except
in the 30s. The gang walks in.
TOMMY
All right, we're in and out 15 minGRACE
I want to ride the roller coaster.

52.
MAURA
I want to go in the haunted house!
TOMMY
God dammit we're here to-ooh,
bumper cars!
They rush away, unaware of Miller observing them from a
distance.
EXT. CARNIVAL - GAME AREA - DAY
Tommy is filling up a clown balloon. The prize goes to a kid
besides him. Tommy begins to argue with both the kid and
carny.
Ruby and Grace watch as Tommy argues.
GRACE
Why is he our leader?
RUBY
Look, I know Tommy looks like a
putz, and acts likes a putz,
and....look, his energy, it's
infectious. He's just a big kid;
saying no to him would be like
telling a kid Santa isn't real.
GRACE
Santa isn't real?
RUBY
Uh...let's get some ice cream.
EXT. CARNIVAL - DINING AREA - DAY
The gang is eating ice cream.
ROLAND
As much fun as this is, I would
like to settle things.
TOMMY
Ugh, my stomach hurts...
RUBY
Look, I think Roland and I can
handle this guy, we'll be back in a
bit.

53.
INT. BIG TOP - DAY
PACKETT (60) the ringmaster, is an old Brit, who projects a
mushy dignity; like all Brits, he's pure evil. Ruby and
Roland approach him.
PACKETT
Roland, what a pleasure! What
brings you to our fairROLAND
Shut up, Packett. We're here for
your money.
He and Ruby hold up guns.
PACKETT
Oh Roland, no bullet could hurt me
as much as this betrayal does; I,
who took pity on a penniless
immigrantROLAND
Next word is your last.
Packett stands aside, but looks up and nods to an acrobat. He
throws a SANDBAG attached to a rope, which hits Roland
DIRECTLY IN THE HEAD, knocking him out.
A Pierrot clown grabs Ruby.
MILLER
Excellent work, Agent Reddington.
Miller and other agents surround them.
PACKETT
You see dearie, the law figured
youd show up here sooner or later.
Being an honest citizen, I
naturally agreed to help.
Ruby tries to reach for her gun, but Miller grabs it.
MILLER
Miss Yates, right now I believe you
are useful to me alive. If I were
you, I wouldnt try to change my
view.
EXT. CARNIVAL - DINING AREA - DAY
Tommy and Grace sit alone at the table.

54.
GRACE
You like Ruby, don't you?
TOMMY
Of course I do, she's a fine lady.
GRACE
No, I mean, you know...
TOMMY
It wouldn't work out. Me and her,
we, you know, play for different
teams, if you get me. Its
unnatural, like a bullfrog riding
an alligator. And in most places
its illegal, like a bullfrog
riding an alligator.
GRACE
Tommy, we're bank robbers.
This has not occurred to Tommy. He gets up.
TOMMY
I'm going to check on Ruby and
Roland.
INT. BIG TOP - DAY
Tommy walks into the darkened and seemingly-empty big top.
TOMMY
Ruby? Ruby? Oh, uh, Roland?
A spotlight goes on. Miller, Gosling and Packett stand on the
trapezes platform.
MILLER
Welcome, Preston.
TOMMY
Gosling? What the hell is this?
I-

GOSLING

MILLER
Its the end of the line, Preston.
Two spotlights appear.
ONE shows Roland STRAPPED TO A BOARD, where STIRBA THE KNIFETHROWER tosses knifes, as befits her name. One hits just
inches away from Rolands manhood.

55.
The second shows Ruby HANGING FROM A ROPE, above a CAGE OF
TIGERS, attended by ZOROFF THE LION TAMER and his two lions.
TOMMY
The hell? Wouldn't just tying them
up been easier?
PACKETT
I insisted on being a little
theatrical. Frankly, a little
appreciation would be nice. Now,
hand over your gun.
Tommy sees Zoroff by him. He holds out the gun, but instead
of taking it by hand the tamer uses his whip to grab it and
toss it up to Packett.
PACKETT
I realize this an asshole thing to
do, but I really want to see this.
May I?
MILLER
Fine with me.
Packett SHOOTS THE ROPE, and Ruby falls into the tiger cage.
Ruby!

TOMMY

Tommy GRABS THE ROPE, and holds onto it with all his might.
Ruby, terrified, hovers just above the tiger cage.
Tommy continues to hold, but eventually gives out.
Ruby screams and fallsRuby opens her eyes. The tigers are completely ignoring her;
they continue to lounge and lick their paws.
PACKETT
No, no! Eat her you stupid animals!
Tommy climbs above the cage, and helps Ruby out. No sooner is
that done when a ROAR breaks out; Zoroff cracks his whip as
two LIONS surround them.
Tommy gets in front of Ruby.
The lions POUNCE, but the WEREWOLF POUNCES ON THEM.
TOMMY
That a girl, Grace!

56.
Stirba THROWS A KNIFE aiming right for Roland's heart, but
it's SHOT AWAY by Maura.
Jonas cuts Roland free. Roland glares at Packett, and heads
towards him, when Reddington delivers a swift kick to his
head.
TOMMY
An evil clown...now I've seen
everything.
Roland keeps trying to land a punch on Reddington but he's
too fast. Ian pulls out FILING WIRE, and jumps on Roland's
back and starts to CHOKE HIM.
The Werewolf sees this, and THROWS one of the lions at them.
Roland manages to pick up Ian and throw him at the lion, who
both collide.
As this all goes on, a LITTLE BOY pokes his head into the
tent.
Wow!

LITTLE BOY

The kid rushes to the action, getting close to the Werewolf.

Above, Miller aims his rifle at the werewolf, the kid
seemingly in the way.
GOSLING
That kid is pretty close.
Yes.

MILLER

GOSLING
What if you hit him?
MILLER
Then Ill aim again.
As Miller squeezes the trigger, Gosling grabs the rifle and
manages to jerk it to the side.
No!

GOSLING

The bullet misses the Werewolf and hits an agent in the butt.
Enraged, Miller punches Gosling, sending him through the tent
wall.

57.
EXT. CARNIVAL - TENT - DAY
Gosling falls into a FISH TANK conveniently located right by
the tent.
INT. BIG TOP - DAY
The Werewolf, seeing Miller and the rest, starts climbing the
pole to get them.
Packett runs away in fear.
The kid watches, unaware of a lion behind him. Just as it
prepares to swipe him, Tommy grabs him away.
TOMMY
Wow, gotta pay attention kid.
LITTLE BOY
Hey, youre Tommy Preston! Wow, I
want to be just like you when I
grow up.
TOMMY
Well you can, just dont pay
attention in school, be aggressive
to your loved ones, and drink
bourbon.
I will!

LITTLE BOY

TOMMY
Ah youre a good kid. Here.
He hands the kid a gun and ruffles his hair.
TOMMY
Run along you little scamp.
The kid does so.
Above, the Werewolf reaches the top of the pole. Miller aims
his rifle, but before he can fire, the Werewolf grabs it and
breaks it in half.
The Werewolf swipes at Miller, but he manages to dodge again
and again.
The gang watch from below.

58.
JONAS
I have an idea thats not very
practical, but will look
impressive.
He motions towards a cannon.
TOMMY
Grace, down here!
The Werewolf knocks Miller off the platform, sending him
right into a cannon.
Ruby lights the string, setting the cannon off and sending
Miller right through the roof of the tent.
INT. PACKETTS OFFICE - DAY
Packett is hurriedly searching through his office, looking
for something, making a big mess in the process.
PACKETT
Where the hell-ah!
He picks up his quarry, a silver-colored briefcase.
RUBY
Going somewhere?
Packett turns to see the gang.
PACKETT
Uh, I was just getting Roland what
I owe him.
He opens the case and takes out a wad of bills.
PACKETT
I think this is what I owe you.
ROLAND
Ill take the rest of that too.
But-

PACKETT

ROLAND
Im a thief, remember?
Packett grumbles as he hands over the case.

59.
EXT. CARNIVAL - DAY
The gang are heading out of the carnival and pass a STRENGTH
TESTER.
CARNIVAL BARKER
Hey hit the thing, win a prize.
Roland looks at Grace, who smiles. He takes the mallet.
ROLAND
I am Roland, the strongest man in
the world!
Roland SWINGS THE MALLET down on STRENGTH TESTER. The weight
goes straight to the top, exits, lands on something that
sends it into the carny's balls. EVERYONE LAUGHS.
EXT. FIELD - DAY
In the middle of a field, just by the carnival, Miller,
seemingly none the worse for wear, rises up from the ground
and brushes the dust off his suit.
Packett appears behind him.
PACKETT
You bloody bastard. Youve ruined
me! Ive lost everything! You told
me we couldnt fail!
MILLER
To be frank, Mr. Packett, I would
have told you anything to ensure
your cooperation.
PACKETT
You, you... Ill show you!
Packett takes out a handgun, fires, and hits Miller directly
in the spine. He does not even flinch.
MILLER
That was a poor decision, Packett.
You know too much now.
He turns and walks towards Packett.
Packett fires again and again at Miller. All of the bullets
hit him, but he keeps coming.
PACKETT
Youre, youre not human...

60.
Miller grabs Packetts head and squeezes it, until - CRACK.
Gosling comes over to him, carrying a squirming catfish.
GOSLING
Hey Miller I think this fish wants
to be my friend. Hey whats wrong
withMiller grabs the fish and hurls it away, hitting a tree.
GOSLING
Gillian Fish!
Miller grabs Gosling by his lapel and lifts him up.
MILLER
Mr. Gosling, I see you are very
used to looking like an idiot. I am
not. Now, I have been ordered to
help you apprehend these criminals.
I suggest you let me.
EXT. CLASSY LADY - DAY
The gang stand by a somewhat run down building advertising
itself as the Classy Lady, with a billboard of a
provocatively dressed middle-aged woman winking.
TOMMY
Sounds classy.
INT. CLASSY LADY - DAY
Its an old hotel, grand in its day, but now somewhat run
down.
Tommy stands at the front, talking to a receptionist.
RECEPTIONIST
Thatll be $5 per night.
TOMMY
Hmm, and what if I gave you this
signed photo of Wallace Beery?
Tommy takes out a photo of a dachshund. Ruby turns to Grace.
RUBY
Grace, this could take a bit. Why
dont you find something more
interesting?

61.
Grace looks around, and sees a group of kids playing jacks.
TONY (11) makes his move.
TONY
I call this one Riding the Zebra.
He makes a basic move. STINKY JOHNSON (14) makes the next.
STINKY
Yeah, well waitll you see the
Hanging Clown.
He makes the exact same move.
GRACE
Here, let me have a turn.
STINKY
Beat it, we dont play with girls,
girl.
GRACE
Oh really? I thought this was a
game for toilet people.
STINKY
No one calls Stinky Robertson a
Johnson person! Youre on!
What follows is a short montage of the kids playing jacks,
with the thrill of victory and agony of defeat that entails.
At the end, a boy sadly turns in his decoder ring into a pile
of kid junk.
BOY
How am I going to explain this to
mom...
Stinky goes up to Grace.
STINKY
You play good. I guess girls can do
more than fix dresses and scare
dogs.
GRACE
Thanks. So, same time tomorrow?
STUDENT
Uh, sorry, its Thanksgiving. I
have to hang out with the family,
eat turkey, you know?

62.
The other kids murmur Yeah Me too etc.
GRACE
Oh. Yeah, I remember now, me too.
The kids walk away.
Grace looks glum; Ruby notices.
INT. CLASSY LADY - JONAS' ROOM - DAY
Tommy is incredulous.
TOMMY
Thanksgiving dinner? Sounds like a
hassle.
RUBY
I think Grace would like it.
TOMMY
Really? Huh...I'll see what I can
do.
Tommy gets up and leaves.
JONAS
You and Tommy seem to be getting
fond of each other. I recall you
kneeing him in the groin when you
first met him.
RUBY
Well, you hang around people long
enough you grow fond of them, like
a busted watch or a toothache.
JONAS
You know, you'd have had broken
several hearts by now, had you not
been forced to look after a foolish
old man.
Oh God.

RUBY

JONAS
(playingly mocking)
A pure foolish old man, who can't
even chew his own mush.
He mimes chewing mush. Ruby laughs in spite of herself, and
gets up to leave, followed by Jonas.

63.
JONAS
Oh, this mush had a hair in it!
INT. CLASSY LADY - TOMMYS ROOM - DAY
A table sits in the center of the room.
Maura and Roland enter the room, carrying pizza boxes.
ROLAND
Thanksgiving dinner everyone!
TOMMY
What the hell? Where's the turkey?
MAURA
It looked so sad, I had to set it
free.
TOMMY
Wait, you got a live turkey?
Roland shakes his heade.
They place the boxes on the table, opening them to reveal the
pizza.
RUBY
What is this?
MAURA
It's called pizza. It's great!
Tommy suspiciously takes a bite, then grunts approvingly.
INT. CLASSY LADY - TOMMYS ROOM - DAY
The gang sit around the table.
MAURA
I'm grateful for Donald Duck, the
Three Stooges, and William
Faulkner. Oh, I'm also glad Jimmy's
dead and we have Grace instead.
TOMMY
(whispering, to Ruby)
Who's Jimmy?

64.
ROLAND
Im grateful to live in this
country, where you can believe and
say anything you want, as long as
it doesn't rock the boat too much,
and Im grateful to be among you,
my friends. And of course, that we
found you, Grace.
RUBY
I'm just grateful for, well,
everyone I suppose. Especially you,
Grace.
TOMMY
Well, I'm grateful that I'm the
baddest guy in the country, and
its all due to my intelligence,
determination and charisma. And
Grace.
Jonas stands up.
JONAS
You know, I've been involved in the
fine art of stealing since I stole
my little brother's lollipop at age
3. Since then I've known quite a
number of ne'er-do-wells; Butch
Cassidy, Al Capone, Harvey BaileyTOMMY
Jonas I'm starving!
JONAS
-so now it means something when I
say I'm grateful that this is the
best damn gang there's ever been,
that I feel as young as a teenager,
and it's all thanks to this girl!
Grace is happy but a bit shy of all the attention.
GRACE
Thanks. I'm grateful that...I found
you guys, that I'm...not alone
anymore. It's....really nice.
TOMMY
That's great, now, let's eat.

65.
INT. CLASSY LADY - TOMMYS ROOM - NIGHT
Grace lies on a couch trying to stay awake while Tommy reads
her a book.
TOMMY
And so Ricky Rabbit and all his
friends went down to the pound to
have a rabbit party - jeez, this
author is not very clever.
GRACE
Hey, its a real...turd...
Grace drifts off to sleep.
Jonas picks her up as he, Maura and Roland leave.
JONAS
We head out at noon?
TOMMY
Yeah. Night.
They leave. Ruby picks up a box.
TOMMY
Aren't you going too?
RUBY
Nah, I figured I'd help clean up.
TOMMY
Oh. Uh, I was just planning to
leave it like this.
RUBY
Oh. Well thenShe drops the BOX.
Done.

RUBY

They laugh.
They lean in to kissA small bomb bursts in through the window.
Tommy grabs Ruby.
Run!

TOMMY

66.
INT. CLASSY LADY - HALLWAY - NIGHT
Tommy and Ruby get out just as the room explodes into flames.
Other rooms do so as well.
EXT. CLASSY LADY - NIGHT
Agents continue to throw the devices in the apartment, as
Miller and a confused Gosling look on.
INT. CLASSY LADY - HALLWAY - NIGHT
Tommy and Ruby push through the hallway, now on fire and
filled with smoke and panicked tenants.
They run into Maura and Roland.
RUBY
Where's Jonas and Grace?
There's knocking at a door.
INT. CLASSY LADY - JONASS ROOM - NIGHT
The room is filled with smoke; Jonas pounds on the door while
Grace lies with a wet towel over her face.
As Jonas is about to pass out, the door is torn off its
hinges by Roland. They then help get Jonas and Grace out.
EXT. CLASSY LADY - NIGHT
Gosling sees people coming out, coughing, some carrying
unconscious people.
GOSLING
Stop this. We're putting innocent
people in danger.
MILLER
No one is innocent, Mr. Gosling
GOSLING
I meant more in the legal than
philosophical sense.
MILLER
Oh. Well then yes, we are
endangering innocent people. What
of it?

67.
GOSLING
As your superior officer in this
operation Im ordering you to stand
down.
MILLER
You are not my superior in
anything, Gosling. If you disagree
with my approach you may file a
complaint. Until then I strongly
recommend you be quiet.
Gosling looks like a deer in the headlights.
INT. CLASSY LADY - HALLWAY - NIGHT
The gang is heading for the exit, when AGENTS appear. Tommy
grabs a man.
TOMMY
Stand back, we got a hostagAn agent SHOOTS the hostage, killing him instantly, to
Tommy's shock and horror.
TOMMY
I-I was bluffing!
The Agents start firing at them. The gang ducks into a nearby
room. Right before, Tommy looks through the flaming hallway;
Miller stands at the end, his face blank, his coat waving; an
angel of death.
Miller holds up his hand, and the agents stop as he calmly
walks through the flames as if they werent there.
He turns down the same way the gang went, and walks up to the
end door.
The Werewolf then bursts out the door, and charges down the
hallway at Miller. The gang peek out behind her.
TOMMY
Get em, Grace!
She lunges, but Miller catches her and judo-throws her to the
ground. The gang is shocked.
Miller then delivers a sharp kick to her mouth. He moves to
do so again, but the Werewolf kicks Miller, sending him into
the wall.
The Werewolf rushes up to him but he grabs her open mouth and
starts to pry it apart.

68.
MILLER
Got you now you littleThe Werewolf gathers her strength and slams against the wall,
Miller hitting it in front of her. The force breaks through
the wall intoEXT. CLASSY LADY - WALL - NIGHT
-the outside. The Werewolf holds on with her claws sticking
into the stone wall, but Miller is trying to drag her down.
Suddenly, a shoe hits Millers face. Then a vase.
The gang are throwing various items at Miller thorugh the
window, trying to knock him down.
JONAS
Assaulting a child is low-grade
even for a man of law!
Jonas hurls a bottle of gin at Miller, who drops and falls to
the ground.
Tommy and Roland begin to pull the Werewolf up.
TOMMY
Dont worry Grace, everything is
fine now.
Agents show up behind them.
TOMMY
God damn dramatic irony!
The agents rush to the hole, but the gang is gone.
They look down to see the gang riding on the Werewolf as she
climbs down.
The agents start FIRING. The Werewolf starts moving fast and
furious to avoid the bullets, as the gang struggles to hold
on.
They get to the ground and head to the Nash.
Once in it, the gang drives through the agents firing at
them.
EXT. ROAD - NIGHT
The Nash drives by an empty field.

69.
INT. NASH - DAY
The gang sits silently, shell-shocked.
TOMMY
Okay, were all a little freaked
out, but were all alive. We are
right?
No one answers.
TOMMY
Yeah, we are. Now, this was going
to happen sooner or later, but
dont worry, I planned for it.
GRACE
What is it?
TOMMY
First, I turn myself in. Now, now,
let me finish. Once in custody Im
going to start a line of
communication with the First Lady,
put on the ol Preston charm, and
shell convince her husband to give
us all pardons. Heh, are you guys
lucky to know me or what?
Tommy turns to see everyone staring at him in disbelief.
TOMMY
All right, plan b: we go to Mexico
and stay there till things blow
over. Now, did anyone happen to
save any of the money?
MAURA
Ooh! I hid these here earlier.
Maura reaches down and pulls out a bag.
TOMMY
Ah thata girl Maura. How much is in
there?
MAURA
Oh, its not money. Just pictures
of us.
She starts passing them out.
TOMMY
Damn it Maura we need-

70.
Ruby hands him a photo and Tommy smiles.
TOMMY
Oh I remember this, when we robbed
that zoo.
INSERT: The picture shows Tommy pretending an elephants
trunk is his penis.
TOMMY
Heheh, good Maura. Still, were
going to need some guns.
INT. J. EDGAR HOOVERS OFFICE - DAY
Gosling barges into the room.
GOSLING
I'm sorry for not scheduling an
appointment Director Hoover but
this is importantGoslings realizes Miller and Kincaid are in the room with
Hoover. Hoover glares at him.
HOOVER
Agent Gosling. We were just talking
about you.
KINCAID
I'm Professor Kincaid, I'm an
adviser to Agent Miller. We were
just sharing this information about
your conduct.
GOSLING
What conduct?
MILLER
You've ignored your duty and used
funds to hold drug-fueled orgies.
GOSLING
What's an orgy?
HOOVER
Don't play dumb, they have photos.
Hoover throws photos at Gosling, who picks them up and looks
at them. He cringes at them.

71.
GOSLING
But...these are fake! I haven't
even had sex....with this
particular woman.
HOOVER
I don't want to hear another word
from you, you modern-day Caligula.
You've shamed me and the entire
department. You're fired. Get the
hell out of my sight.
Gosling stammers for a bit, before leaving.
EXT. GUN STORE - NIGHT
The Nash pulls up to a small store and get out.
TOMMY
Okay, I know this guy and can get
us a good deal.
INT. GUNSHOP - NIGHT
Tommy strolls up to the counter while the others look around.
At the counter is AL, a middle-aged balding man of average
build.
TOMMY
Hey, wheres Ralph?
Vacation.

AL

TOMMY
That sounds like Ralph. Hes always
going on about how hed like to
take a vacation. Hes funny that
way.
Maura is looking at a gun, when a drop of red liquid falls on
her from an air vent.
JONAS
What the...?
Roland opens the air vent and a dead body falls out.
Dear God!

JONAS

Tommy turns his head right before Al aims the gun at his
head.

72.
TOMMY
Listen I am trying to negotiate
here would you please be quiet?
Ruby grabs Tommy and shoves him down out before hes hit.
Roland grabs a box of ammunition and hits Al square in the
head. Al falls and Tommy takes his gun, aiming it at his
temple as Roland holds him down.
TOMMY
All right, what the hells going
on? You guys arent supposed to
kill civilians, even if Hoover does
want us!
Hoover?

AL

Al starts to laugh, unnerving the gang.

TOMMY
Stop-stop it! Were the gangsters,
see! Who are you guys?
AL
You think we give a shit about some
bank robbing hicks? Its the girl
we want.
TOMMY
Maura? Listen, unless you want to
listen to a 5 hour talk about the
semiotics of Donald DuckAL
The girl who turns into a wolf, you
idiot!
TOMMY
Oh. That makes much more sense.
AL
If youre smart, youll give her up
now. Well keep coming until we get
her. You wont have a moments
rest.
TOMMY
Yeah? Well, I havent been smart
all my life and I aint starting
now!
He shoots Al in the head.

73.
TOMMY
Get the guns and lets go.
INT. BAR - DAY
Gosling sits at a bar, sad.
BARTENDER
The usual, Mr. Gosling.
GOSLING
No, after the day I had, I need
something to really knock me on my
ass. I'll take two scoops of ice
cream in my root beer float.
The phone rings. The bartender picks it up, listens, and
hands it to Gosling.
BARTENDER
It's for you.
Hello?

GOSLING

MYSTERIOUS VOICE
The symbols on the girl. Track them
down and you'll find your answers.
GOSLING
Who is this?
The line goes dead.
EXT. FIELD - NIGHT
The gang are out in a field, Roland cooking while Tommy and
Ruby talk.
Grace sits down, looking glum. Jonas sits down next to her.
JONAS
Why so glum, Grace?
GRACE
Were being hunted down like
animals and its all because of me.
JONAS
Oh, that. Well, let me tell you a
story. Back when I was riding with
Butch Cassidy, banks would send all
sorts of bounty hunters after us.

74.
JONAS (CONT'D)
There was one summer we had a nasty
one after us, leading 50 men. Would
not let up. We spent months of
nights huddled in fear, wondering
if we would live to see the sun
rise.
GRACE
What did you do?
JONAS
Well, one night, I snuck off. And I
never saw any of them again.
GRACE
You didnt feel guilty?
JONAS
At the beginning. Luckily I met
someone who helped.
He lifts up a bottle of clear alcohol and starts drinking.
JONAS
Ah, thats the stuff.
GRACE
This story isnt really helping.
JONAS
Its not, isnt it? Oh right.
Anyway, after I left I figured Id
go straight, become a farmer or
cobbler or whatever. But I
realized, I missed it.
GRACE
Robbing banks?
JONAS
No, fearing for my life. The worst
thing in this life is feeling like
a nobody. And let me tell you, you
never feel like a nobody when a
bunch of people are out to kill
you.
GRACE
Thats not really helpful either.
JONAS
Oh. Well, ummm....everythings a
part of Gods plan, and things will
work themselves out.

75.
Tommy and Ruby walk back.
TOMMY
Okay, so, the plan is to go Mexico.
We can do this, as long as we keep
calm and dont lose our heads.
Theres a rustling in the bushes.
TOMMY
What is that, shoot to kill!
HAL, a middle-aged man in a sharp suit with a car salesmans
grin, holds up his hands.
HAL
Hold on, hold on! Im here to help.
They lower their weapons.
HAL
The names Hal. I represent a party
interested in the services of the
Tommy Preston gang.
Who?

TOMMY

Hal smiles.
INT. OCCULT BOOK STORE - DAY
Gosling walks in, carrying a notebook. In addition to old
books, the walls have spooky paintings such as Fuseli's The
Nightmare and Goya's The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters.
At the front desk sits JACQUELINE BROOKS (26) a cool,
gorgeous woman wearing dark clothing, reading a Weird Tales.
Gosling is intimidated, but walks up, trying to be smooth.
GOSLING
Hello, I'mJACQUELINE
Listen, if you're worried Dracula
bit your dick, go a doctor, I'm not
looking at it.
GOSLING
What? No, I'm hoping you can help
me find out what these symbols
mean.

76.
He opens the notebook and shows her sketches of the symbols.
JACQUELINE
Hmm...it'll take a while to go
through the books, I'll have to
close the store.
GOSLING
Perhaps I can make it up to you,
over dinner?
JACQUELINE
Or you could just pay me in cash.
GOSLING
Sure, sure.
INT. DILLINGERS PAD - NIGHT
The large room is mostly empty, but has the look of a
Hollywood Arabic harem set, with pillows to sit on and Arabic
and Oriental decorations. Smooth Jazz plays.
The people assembled are for the most part pretty and young,
but are relatively multiethnic for the time period, chatting
while smoking and drinking wine. The atmosphere is Bohemian.
Tommy follows the man, mystified by the whole thing. Finally,
they come to a stop in the center, where a man is talking to
a crowd who hang on his every word.
The man is dressed like the Devil himself. He's calm, no
insecurity or anxiety. He's the coolest man in the room and
he knows it.
Tommy's mouth drops.
TOMMY
Is that...?
HAL
Yes sir. That's John Dillinger.
DILLINGER
So I tell the guy, 'well, I guess
that makes you the man with the
spider dick.'
Everyone bursts out laughing.
HAL
Mr. Dillinger, this is Mr. Preston

77.
DILLINGER
Ah, excellent, excellent. It's
Tommy, rightDillinger reaches out to shake Tommy's hand, but Tommy kneels
down and holds Dillinger's hand without eye contact.
TOMMY
Mr. Dillinger, sir , it is a
tremendous honor to be in your
presence. You have been one of the
greatest inspirations in my life,
along with Jesse James, Billy the
Kid and Susan B. Anthony. I belieDILLINGER
Relax man, come on, get up.
Tommy slowly sits up.
DILLINGER
I brought you here because I want
to talk business. But first, you
like Jesse James? 'Cause I got a
private film collection, and I got
a film that may interest you.
TOMMY
The 1927 Jesse James, with Fred
Thomson?
DILLINGER
Hmm-hmm. I'll have them put it on.
And here, to make it interesting.
Dillinger reaches into his pocket and pulls out a joint.
Is that-

TOMMY

DILLINGER
Marijuana. The devil's weed. Green
cocaine. Most white men, just a
whiff of it turns them into
mindless killers, but if you're a
master of your mind like me, it
just expands your mind, gives you
introspection, and an appreciation
for the cuisine of our Southern
neighbors.
Tommy stares at the joint before slowly taking it and taking
a puff. He coughs, then smiles.

78.
INT. KINCAID'S LAIR - NIGHT
It's a large cavern, almost Gothic but with cutting-edge
technology.
Miller walks down the stairs and heads towards Kincaid. He
passes such things such as a stuffed yeti, a butterfly frame
containing dead FAERIES, old books with arcane markings, and
various artifacts.
Kincaid and Ms. Reid both wear white lab coats and dark
goggles, and stand by a large electrical device, the sort of
thing you'd see in a Frankenstein movie. It shoots electrical
rays into a large cocoon.
KINCAID
Ah Mr. Miller, you're just in time.
MILLER
Sir, I would like to personally
apologize for our failure to
recapture the girl.
KINCAID
Yes, scarcely a day goes by without
Norton or such calling me in a
panic. Truth be told, I'm growing
concerned as well. Hopefully, this
will help...
Another burst of lightning, and some sort of armored worm,
the size of a small dog, bursts out of the cocoon, snarling
and leaping at Kincaid's face when-Kincaid catches it with forceps; it wriggles helplessly as
Ms. Reid extracts a milky substance from its mouth in a tube.
KINCAID
Relax, it'll all be over soon...
(to Miller)
The lifecycle of the Tibetan
Mariphasa Worm is very delicate.
Breeding it here was some effort.
But its venom is the final
ingredient we need...
Ms. Reid pours the venom into a vat of other substances.
MILLER
What is it?
KINCAID
Something to neutralize that girl's
wild side.

79.
KINCAID (CONT'D)
Once that's done, you'll just have
to deal with those bank robbers.
You can handle that I hope
INT. DILLINGER'S PAD - NIGHT
The room is darkened, and a silent Western is being projected
on the wall.
Tommy sits next to Dillinger, both blazed.
TOMMY
But it's like, you know, what does
it even matter? Real Jesse James'
been dead for 50 years, no one
remembers or cares what he did,
nobody worth a damn. This guy on
the screen, people'll be seeing him
for centuries, eons! He's more
alive than the real Jesse ever was.
DILLINGER
Yeah, I dig ya man. Now listen,
you're a cool cat, but I didn't
want to meet you just to hang. I'm
planning to hit someplace, and I
need help.
TOMMY
You...you want my, my help?
DILLINGER
You and that wolf of yours, yeah.
TOMMY
God...I'm, I'm honored, but, well,
we're dealing with a lot of heat
right now. Powerful people are
after us, and well, I don't know if
we can take this chance.
Tommy winces waiting for Dillinger's reaction.
DILLINGER
I understand.
You do?

TOMMY

DILLINGER
Yeah, you're leader, you gotta
think of your crew first. However,
I feel I should show you this paper

80.
Dillinger hands Tommy a small slip of paper. Tommy's eyes
bulge.
TOMMY
That's how much is at the bank?
DILLINGER
One last job for both of us, then
we go down to South America, spend
the rest of our lives drinking
daiquiris served by monkey butlers.
Tommy thinks about it.
INT. OCCULT BOOK STORE - NIGHT
Gosling and Jacqueline are going over books, boxes of Chinese
food laid about.
JACQUELINE
Here we go. These symbols appear in
several ancient American Indian
sites. They indicate some sort of
wolf spirit.
GOSLING
What else do they say?
JACQUELINE
Nothing, really. Some revered it as
a protective spirit; others feared
it as a source of destruction.
Gosling takes that in.
GOSLING
Who wrote this?
JACQUELINE
Uh, two guys, a Dominic KincaidGOSLING
Can't go to himJACQUELINE
-and a Craig Mackenzie.
The back of the book shows a picture of a young Kincaid and
another man, looking quite chummy.
INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT
Its a very nice place.

81.
RUBY
I can't believe you agreed to this
without consulting us.
TOMMY
Ruby, it's just one last job, when
has one of those ever gone wrong?
Dillinger wants to work with us!
RUBY
And what makes you think we can
trust him?
TOMMY
He set us up in this place, didnt
he? We need the money.
RUBY
We're supposed to be hiding, you
could get us all killTommy shows Ruby the slip of paper.
RUBY
One last job, huh?
EXT. MACKENZIE'S CABIN - DUSK
Gosling pulls up in his car (whatever the lamest car of the
day was) to a small, modern cabin, almost a house.
Gosling walks up to the door and knocks. No answer. He tries
again, same. He steps back and rushes the door to break it
open; he just hurts himself. Finally he just tries opening
it, which works.
INT. MACKENZIE'S CABIN - DUSK
The cabin is small but nice, with a fireplace and
electricity. The shelves are full of books and pictures.
Gosling goes over to look at them; some of childhood, but
most of them show him with Kincaid. Gosling doesn't notice
someone coming up to him, until they touch his shoulder. He
turns around andMACKENZIE
Why hello stranger!
CRAIG MCKENZIE (55) an old Southern gentleman, still dressed
fancily and holding a glass of an alcoholic beverage.
GOSLING
Mr. Mackenzie?

82.
MACKENZIE
Call me Craig! Sit down, can I get
you anything?
He ushers Gosling to a nice comfy chair.
MACKENZIE
I think I have some candy, I'll goGOSLING
Sir, I've come to ask about
Professor Kincaid.
Mackenzie stops dead in his tracks.
MACKENZIE
Oh, c'mon son, life's too...too
short to dwell on such topics.
GOSLING
I thought you were friends?
MACKENZIE
Friends? Oh, the best of them. I
was closer to Nick than my own kin.
Now, though, well...
GOSLING
This...this group you were in, what
is it?
MACKENZIE
Oh, it's old, older than the
country. Founded by good ol' Ben
Franklin himself.
For what?

GOSLING

MACKENZIE
Well, there's forces you see.
Forces antithetical to our very way
of existence. Forces most folk are
allowed the luxury to think don't
exist. Our job was to keep thing
that way.
He sits down, smiling, lost in his memories.
MACKENZIE
God, the time we had...traveling
the world, the food, the women,
heheh.

83.
MACKENZIE (CONT'D)
We were just a couple of fools, and
yet somehow we managed to stop the
apocalypse for...hell I can't even
count.
GOSLING
What happened?
MACKENZIE
Something terrible. We got
promoted. Stopped getting
assignments and started giving
them. Kincaid took to it like a
fish to water, though. I wanted to
quit, but Nicky, he could convert
the Pope to Judaism. Until...
He goes to the bookshelf, and takes out a piece of paper. He
hands it to Gosling; it's covered with weird symbols.
What is-

GOSLING

MACKENZIE
Nick slipped it into my pocket last
time we met. It's a parchment,
dooms me to death or something.
GOSLING
He's trying to kill you?
MACKENZIE
Oh, no, no. Nicky knows I'm safe
here; whole cabin is built over a
circle of protection. He just wants
me out of the way.
Why?

GOSLING

Mackenzie is silent for a moment.

MACKENZIE
You know, I haven't had anyone to
play cards with in ages. Wait here.
Mackenzie takes off before Gosling can protest.
INT. BANK - LOBBY - DUSK
Tommy, Grace, Ruby, Jonas, Dillinger and his men walk in.
Tommy fires his gun into the air, and Grace transforms into
wolf mode.

84.
TOMMY
Attention! You folks are really
lucky, you get to witness the team
up of Tommy PrestonDILLINGER
-and John Dillinger. It's the best
of the best, folks.
INT. APARTMENT - DUSK
Maura reads the comic strips while Roland knits.
MAURA
Roland, would you read a comic
strip about a giraffe doctor?
ROLAND
Hmm...would he treat people or
giraffes?
The phone rings. Maura answers it.
Hello?

MAURA

Maura listens, and becomes horrified.

MAURA
Roland, we've got to leave now!
INT. MACKENZIE'S CABIN - NIGHT
Gosling sits on a chair impatiently.
SINGER ON RADIO
Oh everyone says I love you, the
cop on the corner and the burglar
tooMackenzie walks in, carrying a bottle of gin.
MACKENZIE
I guess I ran out of candy, but I
have the next best thingGOSLING
Thank you, but I, uh, don't drink.
MACKENZIE
Well that works out because this is
for me.
He begins to pour a glass.

85.
GOSLING
With all due respect sir, I came
here to get information.
MACKENZIE
(chuckles)
You are a persistent little squirt,
I'll give you that. Tell me, what
do you plan to do once I tell you
about Nick's little scheme?
GOSLING
I'll take the information to
Director Hoover, he'll take it to
the President, and Kincaid will be
arrested and tried.
Mackenzie breaks into uproarious laughter.
MACKENZIE
You-you really don't know who
you're dealing with. There are
three type of people in Washington
in regards to ol' Nick: those that
don't know he exists, those that
believe he's God incarnate, and
those that are scared shitless of
him. 'Arrested and tried'
(chuckles).
Gosling is too shocked to reply for a few moments; finally,
he gathers his resolve.
GOSLING
I'm not leaving without this
information.
Mackenzie admiringly chuckles, and sits down.
MACKENZIE
All right son. Here's the poop.
INT. BANK - OUTSIDE OF VAULT - NIGHT
The group stands outside the vault as the bank manager opens
it. Tommy crosses his fingers.
TOMMY
Please go right, please go right...
The vault opens...

86.
INT. BANK - VAULT - NIGHT
It's filled with cash.
Yes, yes!

TOMMY

The Werewolf makes a noise and points.

Miller and his men are on the side, all aiming guns.
Dillinger and his men open fire, which Miller and his men
return.
DILLINGER
Damn, looks like we fell for the
ol' Friendly Grandma. We'll have to
fight our way out of this, boys.
The Werewolf leaps over and starts lifting and throwing
Millers men around.
Miller aims his rifle at the Werewolf and fires.
A DART hits the Werewolf in the back. She howls, which
gradually turns into Grace screaming.
Grace!

TOMMY

Tommy, Ruby and Jonas go over to the Werewolf, who's lying on

the ground in pain. They move her into cover.
Her body is in a state of flux, metamorphosing between her
werewolf and human form, never completely one or the other.
TOMMY
Grace, what's wrong?
JONAS
Tommy, her wounds...they're not
healing!
TOMMY
Mr. Dillinger, Grace is sick, we
have to get out of here!
DILLINGER
Don't worry Tom, we'll get the
little lady out all right. Im
going to do a trick I learned from
the Indians, going to cloud this
guys mind so he cant see me shoot
him in the head.

87.
Dillinger stands, making weird nonsensical noises and moving
weirdly.
Miller is initially confused, but then shoots Dillinger in
the head.
Tommy stares horrified at Dillinger's corpse.
RUBY
Jonas, you still got that dynamite?
Jonas pulls out a stick and tosses it to Tommy, who lights it
and throws it at Millers men.
It explodes right in their faces.
INT. BANK - HALLWAY - NIGHT
The three walk out of the vault, carrying Grace.
TOMMY
He's dead, I can't believe he's deMiller, scorched and battered but showing no sign of any
discomfort, steps out of the vault.
Tommy turns to Ruby and Jonas.
TOMMY
You two get her out of here. I'll
distract him.
Tommy no-

RUBY

TOMMY
Don't worry, babe, it's like you
said, I'm an annoying fly you can't
squash.
Ruby's not happy but smiles and gives him a kiss before she
and Jonas pick up Grace and leave.
TOMMY
Hey G-Man! You smell like manure!
Tommy runs away, persued by Miller.
INT. BANK - STAIRCASE - DAY
Tommy rushes to some large steps. A MOTHER is doing something
near her baby carriage.

88.
TOMMY
Lady, you need to get out of here!
MOTHER
This bank is open for another hour
and I don'tMiller appears and opens fire. Tommy and the mother duck, but
the mom accidentally knocks into the baby carriage, sending
it down the steps.
MOTHER
My baby! My baby!
Ah jeez.

TOMMY

Tommy rushes for the baby carriage and grabs it. Miller opens
fire on him. Tommy tries to hold onto the carriage, fire at
Miller and dodge his bullets all at once.
TOMMY
Oh God this is just like that
Russian movie we saw!
They got the bottom; the baby is fine, but Tommy falls down
and drops his gun. Miller aimsTOMMY
Hal, he was working for you. But
why Dillinger?
MILLER
It was felt an opportunity to work
with your hero would guarantee you
would accept.
You mean-?

TOMMY

MILLER
Yes, Mr. Preston. Mr. Dillinger is
dead because of you.
Hey!

JONAS (OS)

Jonas appears from behind with a lit stick of dynamite.

JONAS
Put this in your pipe and smoke it!
Jonas throws the dynamite above Miller; this blows a large
chunk of wall out, all of which lands on Miller, burying him.

89.
Tommy hands the baby to the mother.
MOTHER
Oh bless you, bless you for saving
my little Charlie Manson!
The baby coos as the mother takes off with him.
TOMMY
Thanks Jonas. You...you really came
through.
JONAS
We can save that for later, Tommy,
right now I think discretion is the
better part of valor.
The two take off.
Out of the pile of rubble, Miller's fist bursts through.
INT. BANK - LOBBY - NIGHT
Tommy and Jonas rush in, where Ruby and Grace are waiting.
Grace is fully human, but still looks pretty bad.
Tommy and Ruby run for each other and embrace, then go over
to Grace.
TOMMY
How ya doing, kiddo?
GRACE
I...I cant transform...
JONAS
We'll worry about that later, right
now weA hail of gunfire strikes Jonas' back.
Jonas!

GRACE

The others go to Jonas, and then see Miller, dirty and

pissed. He aims whenThe gang's car burst through the glass doors, driving right
into Miller, sending him into the wall.
Maura opens the door.
MAURA
Come on, get in!

90.
Ruby and Tommy help Grace and Jonas inside. They take off,
leaving a pissed off Miller.
INT. NASH - NIGHT
Maura drives but spends half the time looking into the back
seat; Roland is hard at work treating Jonas, but things
aren't good. Everyone's bloody and hysterical.
TOMMY
You're getting blood everywhere,
Jonas, god dammit!
RUBY
Roland, how's he doing?
ROLAND
The wounds...if I were at a
hospital, perhaps.
TOMMY
Maura, hospital, now!
JONAS
No...be..caught. Have to...have to
think of the kid...
Jonas falls silent. Roland sadly shakes his head. Tommy
breaks out in tears.
Oh God...

TOMMY

INT. MACKENZIE'S CABIN - NIGHT

Mackenzie drinks while Gosling paces.
GOSLING
What you've told me...Jesus Christ,
we have to stop it!
MACKENZIE
'We'? I ain't doing shit, son.
Second I leave this place I'll get
hit by a car or a tree'll fall on
me or something.
GOSLING
You don't know, you said yourself
it could just be a bluff.
MACKENZIE
Well, it's a pretty good one!

91.
GOSLING
Listen, we have a sworn duty to
protect this country from all
threats, foreign and domestic, even
at the risk of our lives! Now I'm
going to do my doggone best to stop
this, you can help me or stay here
and drink.
Gosling walks out.
Mackenzie sits in the dark room, the only sound the ticking
of the clock.
He sits up, and throws the bottle into the fireplace.
EXT. MACKENZIE'S CABIN - NIGHT
The door opens. Mackenzie looks at his feet, standing at the
edge of the door.
He looks at Gosling, who nods.
Mackenzie puts one foot out, then the other. Slowly at first,
he walks out the house, gaining confidence quickly.
He stops and looks at the rising sun.
MACKENZIE
Jeez, I forgot how damn beautiful
those were. I guess a man can't
live his life in fear, you have toA FLYING HELL BEAST swoops down, grabs Mackenzie and takes
off as it gobbles him up, all in less than a second.
Gosling meekly looks up, then runs away.
INT. CAR SPECIAL SIX - NIGHT
The gang all sit silently as Ruby drives. Jonas' body sits in
the middle of the back; the others act as if it weren't
there.
MAURA
What are we going to do with Jonas?
TOMMY
We're going to bury him.
Where?

MAURA

92.
TOMMY
Someplace special.
INT. KINCAID MANSION - LIVING ROOM - DAY
Kincaid and Miller are sitting while Ms. Reid pours them tea
KINCAID
Oh Mr. Miller, this has indeed been
a disappointment.
MILLER
I...I am deeply sorry, sir. I
promise you, I will not fail againKINCAID
No, no you won't. We have only days
left; it seems I'll have to take
charge of the situation myself.
EXT. PRESTON FARM - PRESTON HOUSE - DAY
It's morning. A sign reads 'Preston Farms.' Tommy and Grace
look at the ruined house while Maura and Ruby take Jonas'
body out of the trunk. Roland begins to dig a hole.
EXT. PRESTON FARM - DAY
The gang stand over a buried grave.
MAURA
Jonas was really smart. He taught
me about irony, and how you
shouldn't eat candy you find on the
ground.
ROLAND
There was a drink in my old
country, always get me, how do you
say, fucked up. When I come here, I
never was able to find it, until I
met Jonas.
GRACE
I never had a grandpa. But I like
to think if I did, he would have
been like Jonas.

93.
TOMMY
Jonas and I had our differences,
like how we argued about his using
big words just to sound smart, or
how he used the foul-smelling shoe
polish, oh, and how about he
constantly talked about meeting Al
Capone and Butch Cassidy, yeah I'm
sure...
He notices everyone looking at him.
TOMMY
Right, well, when it came to it,
you could depend on him. He was
devoted to us, and gave his life
for us. Amen. Ruby?
RUBY
Jonas was...a great man. Right now
I think that's all I can say.
The gang goes inside, Tommy putting his arm around Ruby.
INT. PRESTON HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Ruby and Tommy come down the stairs.
TOMMY
Grace's asleep.
Tommy sinks into an lazy boy chair.
TOMMY
Let's just get some sleep and I'm
sure things'll look better in the
morning. They haven't found us yet.
There's a knock at the door. The gang look at each other
before Tommy gets up, walks to the door, and slowly opens it
It's Professor Kincaid, dressed in his Sunday best, holding a
bottle of wine and a briefcase.
KINCAID
Hello, I'm Professor Dominic
Kincaid. I'm sorry to trouble you
at this late hour but there are
matters we must discuss. May I come
in?
Uh...sure.

TOMMY

94.
Kincaid strolls in and puts the bottle on a coffee table.
KINCAID
From my personal stock. Be careful,
it packs a wallop.
RUBY
Look, what are you here for?
KINCAID
Yes, no point beating around the
bush. I've come to discuss Grace;
the girl, not the Christian
concept. I've been trying to find
her for some time now.
Some time?

ROLAND

RUBY
You son of a bitch, you're the one
whose been sending those guys after
us, trying to kill us!
TOMMY
Give me one good reason I shouldn't
slit your throat like a hog!
Kincaid merely smiles and raises his hand.
Shots ring out, hitting no one but shooting several things in
the living room. It just lasts a few seconds.
KINCAID
Now, don't misunderstand; I hope we
can settle this matter like
civilized folk.
ROLAND
You've been trying to kill us!
KINCAID
Yes, and you're still alive, so I'm
trying a different route. Of
course, should we be unable to come
to an agreement, well...
TOMMY
You ain't getting Grace.
KINCAID
The girl is sick, I can help her.

95.
TOMMY
She's a member of our gang!
Kincaid breaks into laughter.
KINCAID
You act like you took her in as
some charitable act. No, you have
exploited her, using her abilities
for your own selfish gain.
TOMMY
That's...I mean...
KINCAID
Think, Mr. Preston, is your way of
life good for that girl? No school,
no friends her own age, socializing
only with criminals, under the care
of a man who never attended high
school, who was a failure at
everything until finding her out of
pure chance?
TOMMY
Oh yeah well you're.....fat.
Kincaid gives a pity chuckle. He puts the briefcase on the
table and opens it, revealing it to be full of $100 bills,
with some papers above them.
KINCAID
Naturally, I'll compensate you. The
amount in this briefcase will allow
you all to live comfortably for the
rest of your days.
He holds up the papers.
KINCAID
And these pardons will allow you to
spend it in safety. Naturally, I'll
give you time to think you over.
You have till morning. We'll be
outside waiting. If we don't hear
from you, well...
He makes a gun with his fingers, and points it at Tommy. He
closes the briefcase and walks out.
KINCAID
I can give Grace a normal life.
Think carefully.

96.
KINCAID (CONT'D)
Oh, whatever your decision, the
wine is my gift to you.
INT. PRESTON HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT
As Roland makes coffee, the others sit at the table.
MAURA
How are we even still discussing
this? We can't turn over Grace.
TOMMY
It's more complicated than that,
Maura. You heard him, maybe Grace
will be better off with him.
RUBY
We don't know that. We can't
believe anything that guy says.
You're just thinking about that

I'm not just thinking about myself,
I'm thinking about all of us! My
parents are here, is he going to
spare them? And...Ruby, I love you.
I don't want to see you get hurt. I
want to spend the rest of my life
with you.
Ruby is touched, but shows little comfort.
The clock ticks heavily.
ROLAND
We still have some time, let'sNo.

GRACE (OS)

They turn. Grace is just outside the kitchen.

Grace, we-

RUBY

GRACE
Save it. Listen, I, I...Jonas is
dead because of me. I don't...I...
Grace just walks off; the gang shortly follows.

97.
EXT. PRESTON FARM - PRESTON HOUSE - DAY
Grace walks out into the field.
At the edge are Kincaid, Miller and a small army of agents.
Halfway through, Grace stops, and looks at the gang, before
continuing.
Once she reaches the agents, they surround her, and she
vanishes (not literally, just blocked by agents) as they go
into cars and take off. The briefcase is tossed to the gang.
INT. PRESTON HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY
The gang is getting drunk on Kincaid's wine.
TOMMY
Christ, this does pack a wallop.
There's a knock at the door. Tommy wobbles up and, with some
effort, gets to the door and opens it.
It's Gosling.
Tommy?

GOSLING

TOMMY
Heeey everyone, it's this guy!
Tommy puts his arm around Gosling's shoulder and leads him to
the others.
EVERYONE
Hey Gosling/that guy/etc.
RUBY
Let me pour you a glass, Ryan.
She does but splashes it on his face while giving it to him.
Oh, sorry.

RUBY

GOSLING
Listen, I came here for important
reasons. Where's Grace?
ROLAND
Gone, with that Professor Kincaid.
GOSLING
What? Oh god, I'm too late.

98.
MAURA
He said he was going to help her.
GOSLING
No, listen, you have to hear this.
INT. PRESTON HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
The gang sit while Gosling talks.
GOSLING
It started back in '29, after the
crash.
INT. MACKENZIE'S CABIN - FLASHBACK - NIGHT
Mackenzie lights his pipe as he talks.
MACKENZIE
Kincaid saw all the turmoil and
misery, and he thought, well, he
ran the group so efficiently, why
not the entire country? Out of a
love for this country rather than
mad desire for power, of course.
Mackenzie chuckles as he smokes.
MACKENZIE
He needed allies of course, and he
found them. DB Taylor and his big
business friends, well, they'll
take anything as an alternative to
the New Deal and socialism. But he
needed more than that. To ensure
this Depression's end, he needed
divine help, as it were.
Mackenzie drinks from his glass of brandy.
MACKENZIE
You see, there are...entities I
guess is the best word, entities
that were already ancient when this
planet was just a swirl of dust.
Lot of argument over what they are;
gods, aliens, survivors of a
previous universe...who knows,
maybe they're all right. Whatever
they are, they have tremendous
power.
Mackenzie sighs.

99.
MACKENZIE
Kincaid managed to establish
contact with these things, I won't
horrify you with the details of how
we did that. We managed to make a
deal; they would bless our coup and
country, in exchange for the new
regime worshiping them, providing
regular human sacrifices and such.
A return to the old days, only
instead of a good harvest it'd be
so the Dow Jones stays up. There
was just one thing; to seal the
deal, they needed a sacrifice, and
one human wasn't going to be good
enough.
Mackenzie drinks again.
MACKENZIE
You know what a werewolf is? There
are spirits, you see, young
compared to those entities but
still older than Man. There are
ways, unknown to most, to call
these spirits into you, to gain
some of their power. So you summon
a wolf spirit and you turn into a
wolf monster.
He smokes again.
MACKENZIE
Of course, that's not what Grace
is, not exactly. Just possession
wouldn't work for what he needed.
He trapped this wolf spirit in a
newly-formed human. She's not
possessed you see, she's the spirit
reincarnated as a human! That's why
she aged so quickly. That's why
Kincaid needs her; she's a gift to
those damned things, and when he
kills her, her soul will belong to
them for eternity.
INT. FREELY HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
The gang are in shock.
MAURA
That fat man's going to kill Grace!
We have to save her!

100.
TOMMY
Why bother, why not just slit our
throats here and now, be the same
result. Without Grace we couldn't
steal a corn dog from the county
fair, how the hell are we going to
go up against these guys?
RUBY
So that's it, just let that girl
get gutted like a hog?
TOMMY
God dammit I love that girl, Ruby,
as much as I love you, in a
different, legal way. But these
guys are literally magic. They
killed Dillinger! We're just a band
of idiots.
GOSLING
No, you're not.
The gang all look at Gosling, standing confidently.
GOSLING
You're the Tommy Preston Gang, a
band of master thieves who together
can strike any bank, a collective
that's an affront to every lawabiding citizen in the country,
lead by a criminal mastermind who
will stop at nothing to get his way
The gang is silent for a moment. Tommy then gets up.
TOMMY
Gosh, Gosling, thats...really
something. I feel inspired, like
Susan B. Anthony after meeting
Elizabeth Candy Stanton. Gang,
were going to get our Grace back!
They all cheer.
TOMMY
Now, how do we do that?
RUBY
What if...we used diamonds to
create some sort of death ray?

101.
TOMMY
You know were still pretty
hammered, we should probably wait a
bit until we plan.
EXT. TRAIN STATION - DAY
It's a snowy day at the outdoor train stain. Miller and
Kincaid watch a black train that has agents walking in and
out.
DB Taylor walks up to them, looking under the weather.
KINCAID
Ah, DB, hows your Christmas Eve?
Taylor sneezes.
TAYLOR
Lets just get this over with.
KINCAID
Oh DB, were about to preside over
the most important event since the
invention of the wheel; show a
little enthusiasm.
An agent walks up to them.
AGENT
The girl is on board and secured.
KINCAID
Excellent. Come now, gentlemen.
History awaits us.
EXT. TRAIN - MOUNTAINS - NIGHT
A train speeds up to a track going into mountains.
INT. TRAIN - DINER CAR - NIGHT
A fancy dinner going on, people in tuxes and gowns, butlers.
Kincaid dines at a table with Taylor. They clink glasses of
wine together and laugh.
TAYLOR
Congratulations Professor.
KINCAID
Oh, I couldn't have done it without
you, DB, or your money at least.
Taylor laughs before coughing.

102.
TAYLOR
I admit, when you approached us
with his plan, I was a little
uneasy about the whole, you know,
demon thing. My grandmother was
very religious, you know. But this
whole New Deal thing, all this
talk of America going red, wellKINCAID
Better the devil than a tax hike?
TAYLOR
Yes, exactly.
The two laugh, before Taylor coughs again.
TAYLOR
I'm sorry, ITaylor has another coughing fit, a big one. He then clutches
his stomach.
KINCAID
What's the matter DB, eat something
that didn't agree with you?
Taylor falls to the floor, in extreme pain.
KINCAID
Oh I'm sorry DB, but to enter our
dimension, the representative needs
to grow a body, and for that it
needs one of ours to serve as
fertilizer, as it were. Somehow I
thought of you.
Taylor screams as a mini-tornado erupts out of his back,
carrying his insides and eventually the entire body, which
spin around in the tornado. Gradually, a shape begins to
emerge, and when it's over standsThe EMISSARY is over 9 ft. tall, with a green, slimy skull
shaped head with tentacles dripping from its mouth. It's
androgynous body is skinny, practically skeletal. It wears a
Greco-Roman-esque robe, and has large, grand wings. It
carries a golden staff. It's strangely beautiful, like an
angel.
Kincaid kneels before it.
KINCAID
Welcome Emissary, to our humble
plane of existence.

103.
EMISSARY
(outer-wordy voice)
This realm looks bland and
colorless. I can only feel 12 of my
senses.
KINCAID
It's not much but we call it home.
Kincaid rises.
KINCAID
I have to grade some papers.
Please, enjoy yourself.
Kincaid walks away, followed by Miller; the Emissary takes an
hors d'ouevre off a tray an eats it.
EMISSARY
Ugh, I have mass in this dimension;
I feel so fucking fat.
INT. TRAIN - CAR - NIGHT
Kincaid walks as Miller follows closely.
MILLER
This isn't the way to your room,
sir.
KINCAID
There's something I need to attend
to, first.
MILLER
I see. I hope, sir, this recent
mission hasn't harmed your image of
my abilities andKINCAID
Don't worry, Mr. Miller, I'm sure
you'll have plenty of opportunities
to earn back my favor
Kincaid steps intoINT. TRAIN - GRACE'S CAR - NIGHT
Kincaid walks in. The majority of the room is GRACE'S CAGE,
with guards surrounding it. In the cage is a nice bed,
blankets, children's books, etc. Grace just sits on the bed,
sad.

104.
Kincaid sits down on a stool just by the cage, waving away
guards concerned he's too close.
KINCAID
Hello Grace. You are comfortable, I
hope?
Grace doesn't respond.
KINCAID
They tell me you haven't eaten
anything. Is the food not
satisfactory? We have an excellent
chef, I'm sure he'll be able to
whip up anything you want.
Grace just sits there. Kincaid sighs.
KINCAID
Grace, I know...I hope you know I'm
not doing this out of malice. I'm
just thinking about all the people
out there starving, suffering with
no end in sightGRACE
I don't want to die.
Beat.
KINCAID
Yes, I know. Please believe me, I
wish there was another way. But
your sacrifice will bring relief to
this nation, and I promise you
this, you won't be forgotten.
Grace looks at Kincaid, a look of disgust. Kincaid sighs and
gets up.
KINCAID
Don't worry, I won't ruin your
remaining time with my presence.
I'll see you in a few hours.
Kincaid leaves, then stops and looks back.
EXT. TRAIN - MOUNTAINS - NIGHT
The train speeds along.
The Nash appears, speeding alongside it, driven by Maura.
They throw spikes attached to ropes at the train, tying
themselves to it.

105.
The gang start to climb across the ropes, onto the train.
All except Maura are on, when agents appear and fire at them.
The gang shoot back, but are overwhelmed.
GOSLING
Theres too many of them!
TOMMY
Maura, we need that diversion!
Roland shoots off the gas cap on the Nash, causing it to leak
gas.
RUBY
You sure you can do this?
Maura gives a thumbs up, then drives away, leaving a trail of
gas.
Ruby lights a match and throws it down, the trail lighting up
in flames.
Maura drives fast, the fire following the trail of gas. She
aims forThe agents, seeing the car, head for the last traincar,
firing at her.
Maura turns, and drives right into the traincar.
Without stopping, she launches herself through the glass
front window, getting out just as the train car explodes.
INT. TRAIN - KINCAID'S ROOM - NIGHT
Kincaid is going over papers while drinking a cup of coffee.
KINCAID
"The Carpathians were
unironically..." oh Thomas that's
not a word.
The train comes to A SUDDEN STOP, and Kincaid grabs the
table.
KINCAID
What in the-?
EXT. TRAIN - NIGHT
Maura rejoins the gang, who look at her astonished.

106.
MAURA
What? Do I have a booger?
INT. TRAIN - CAR - NIGHT
Bullets are flying everywhere. It's a pitched fight between
the gang and the agents. Using guns and fists (and Maura
using some martial arts) they gradually get through the
agents.
INT. TRAIN - GRACE'S CAR - NIGHT
Grace is lying in her cell when she hears a commotion.
The door burst open, as an agent with a bloody nose staggers
in backwards before collapsing.
The two guards rush to the door; Tommy punches one in the
face, while Ruby kicks the other in the balls. As they reel
from the pain, Roland bangs their heads together, knocking
them out.
GRACE
What took you idiots so long?
Hey!

TOMMY

Roland grabs the bars and bends them open. Grace comes out
and there's a group hug. Gosling watches.
Aww.

GOSLING

KINCAID (OS)
Agreed, Mr. Gosling. I feel just
terrible ruining it.
Everyone turns. Kincaid and Miller are there.
KINCAID
You folks surprise me. Coming here,
knowing full well you face certain
death...you actually care about
her, don't you?
TOMMY
Damn right we do you, you piece of
shit.
MILLER
You littleMiller advances on them, and Gosling pulls out a pistol.

107.
INT. CHINESE RESTAURANT - FLASHBACK - NIGHT
Gosling and the gang walk up to the front.
RUBY (VO)
That derail isn't going to keep
Miller distracted forever, we're
going to have to deal with him.
GOSLING (VO)
I got something from my contact
that may help.
The OWNER leads them to the back.
INT. CHINESE RESTAURANT - BACK - FLASHBACK - NIGHT
Dr. Zhang emerges from the shadows.
DR. ZHANG
Agent Miller is not a human. He's
more akin to a golem; a man made
from clay, animated by magical
properties. Normal bullets will
have no effect on him. However...
He pulls out a green JADE BULLET.
DR. ZHANG
...This bullet should negate those
energies.
INT. TRAIN - GRACE'S CAR - NIGHT
Gosling fires, and the jade bullets heads straight for Miller-when it's departs from its line and goes straight to
Kincaid's cane. Kincaid picks it up and examines it.
KINCAID
Hmm, yes. It's good for you, Mr.
Miller, that my cane has cetain
properties. I'll dispose of this
later.
He puts the Jade Bullet into his pocket.
Tommy pulls out his tommy gun and lets loose on Miller.
Miller shows no effect and advances on them.
KINCAID
Mr. Miller is one of my greatest
creations.

108.
KINCAID (CONT'D)
Of course there have been
artificial men before, but I was
able to combine them; Loew,
Paracelsus, Agrippa, plus some
innovations of my own.
Miller punches Tommy right in the kisser, knocking him to the
ground. He then steps on Tommy, and puts his rifle in Tommys
mouth. He's about to pull the trigger whenNo, stop.
Why-?

KINCAID
MILLER

KINCAID
The girl is fond of these riffraff,
I won't traumatize her by having
them killed in front of her eyes.
Take them a few cars down and do
it.
Miller pauses for a moment, then takes the rifle out, then
kicks Tommy in the face.
INT. TRAIN - CAR - NIGHT
The gang walks down, surrounded by agents, looking like
prisoners on death row.
Miller, at the front, stops and turns.
MILLER
Stop. We'll do it here.
The gang are lined up against the wall. The agents aim their
guns.

109.
A smoke bomb goes off, blanketing everything in smoke.
Tommy is disoriented for a moment, but then takes initiative
by punching out the agents.
TOMMY
Come on guys!
The gang joins him. Soon, the agents are all knocked out.
The smoke starts to vanish; Miller is sucking it all into his
mouth. Once done, he glares at Ms. Reid.
MILLER
You-you harlot! After all Mr.
Kincaid's done for you, you betray
himMISS REID
Akuryo Taisan!
Miss Reid takes out a slip of paper with Japanese characters
written on it.
MISS REID
Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin,
retsu, zai, zen!
She places the paper on Miller's forehead, and he freezes.
MISS REID
Come on, that won't hold him for
long. Let's go.
She rushes off, and the gang follows after a moment.
INT. TRAIN - DINER CAR - NIGHT
Kincaid walks in, followed by two agents.
KINCAID
Sorry to keep you waiting Emissary
I just-oh my.
A WAITER is on the ground wriggling around, his bloody hands
covering his eyes.
EMISSARY
Walter wanted to see my home, so I
showed him. At which point he
started screaming, and used that
metal scoop to remove his eyes. Is
this normal behavior for your kind?

110.
WALTER
I still see it! I can still see it!
KINCAID
Oh dear. Would you two bring him
out and assist him?
The two agents drag Walter out, still screaming.
KINCAID
Don't worry he just needs some rest
A gun-shot is heard.
KINCAID
There, he's sleeping like a baby.
Now, we'll be at the location
shortly.
EMISSARY
The time for sacrifice is growing
to a close. You are aware of the
consequences if this does not go
through?
The Emissary raises his hand.
EMISSARY
I can show you if you like...
KINCAID
No, no, I'm quite aware. So you can
imagine how carefully this have
been prepared. We've reached the
area. The ceremony will begin now.
INT. TRAIN - CAR WITH CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT - NIGHT
Reid and the gang are in a room with construction equipment.
RUBY
Who are you?
MISS REID
Lilian Reid, Professor Kincaid's
personal assistant.
GOSLING
That voice...you're my contact!
MISS REID
Yes, yes. Now we have to work
quickly if we're going to save
Grace.

111.
ROLAND
Why do you risk your life to save
us, save Grace?
MISS REID
I have my own reasons.
Miss Reid looks off into the distance, mysteriously.
MAURA
Oh are you her mom?
Miss Reid turns back, surprised and disappointed.
MAURA
Well are you?
Yes, yes!

MISS REID

TOMMY
You're Grace's mother? What the
hell, how'd youMISS REID
I know you must have a lot of
questions, but the ceremony will be
starting any moment now. We have to
moveMiller's fist breaks through the door; he then tears it off.
ROLAND
Go on. I will hold him off as long
as I can.
You?

MILLER

Miller smacks Roland, knocking him to the floor.

MILLER
I'm Dominic Kincaid's greatest
creation, made from the knowledge
of the ancients. Who the hell are
you?
Me?

ROLAND

Roland rises up, and tears off his shirt, revealing his sixpack abs (Tommy disparagingly feels his own stomach). He
picks up a sledgehammer.

112.
ROLAND
I am Roland, the strongest man in
the world!
Roland SWINGS the sledgehammer right into Millers face,
sending his head spinning around.
Go now!

ROLAND

They do so, as Miller grabs his head and straightens it into

position, then cracks his knuckles and advances on Roland.
INT. TRAIN - CEREMONIAL ROOM - NIGHT
The car has been decorated ceremonially. A tableau covers the
wall, showing medieval drawings of weird beings. A
sacrificial altar lies in the middle.
On the floor are OLD MEN, all thin and bald, with what look
like lobotomy scars, all looking like zombies: using chalk,
they are writing long math formulas, similar to ones used for
nuclear physics, but with unknown symbols as well.
Kincaid walks in, dressed in strange robes with astrological
symbols on them, followed by the Emissary.
KINCAID
Oh I had it all set up so nicely at
my summer home, but I think we're
coping well considering the
circumstances.
EMISSARY
Oh, I like the homey touch.
The door swings open. Grace, in chains, is lead to the altar.
The Emissary leans down to inspect Grace.
EMISSARY
This is the wolf god we were
promised?
The Emissary lifts Grace's chin up. His eyes glow and INT. TRAIN - CEREMONIAL ROOM - EMISSARY'S VISION - NIGHT
The place is bizarrely lit, very psychedelic feeling; only
the Emissary and Kincaid are visible; in Grace's place is a
cosmic wolf (use your imagination).

113.
INT. TRAIN - CEREMONIAL ROOM - NIGHT
The Emissary leans up.
EMISSARY
Oh yes. This will be quite
sufficient.
INT. TRAIN - CAR - NIGHT
Miller and Roland are duking it out. Roland is putting up his
best but is outmatched, and is receiving the majority of the
pain.
INT. TRAIN - CEREMONIAL ROOM - NIGHT
The roof has been removed to show the star-filled sky.
Kincaid stands and reads from an old book.
KINCAID
"Oh bless us, the wretches of the
lower realms, with good fortune so
we may sing your praises"An explosion takes down the door and the agents close to it.
KINCAID
God dammit!
The gang rushes in.
KINCAID
You people are really embarrassing
our dimension with this conduct!
Miss Reid starts chanting.
KINCAID
Miss Reid? What in heaven's nameA beam of energy strikes Kincaid, knocking him out cold.
Mom!

GRACE

Miss Reid runs up to Grace, and cuts off the ropes.

Miss Reid removes her mask; her face is deeply scarred, her
eyes tearing. Mother and daughter embrace, just hold each
other for a moment.
MISS REID
Oh Grace, oh my dear Grace...

114.
KINCAID
Miss Reid, this is very
disappointing.
MISS REID
That brain of yours, Dominic, you
must have known.
KINCAID
I think I've known for some time, I
just didn't want to admit it.
Telling the child to ruin your face
so as to evade suspicion...its
that determination that I always
loved about you.
MISS REID
There's still time, Dominic. You
don't have to go through with this
madness!
KINCAID
No, my madness has ended. To stay
in the shadows, to use my knowledge
merely to fight ghouls and ghosts
while my country falls to ruin- no
I can not stop, not even if I
wanted to.
MS. REID
She's our child, Dominic!
KINCAID
Yes, and I'm doing this for all the
other children in this nation!
RUBY
You're going to butcher your own
daughter? And for what, to turn
this country into devil worshipers,
human sacrifices?
KINCAID
Why not? People die all the time,
what does matter whether it's from
malnutrition or being offered to
some dark god?
MISS REID
You only care about your power you
maniac!
Kincaid takes out a pistol, and aims t at Miss Reid, his eyes
tearing up.

115.
KINCAID
Oh Miss Reid, I'll never get a
report on time again.
No!

GRACE

He shoots Miss Reid, right in the heart. Instant kill.

Tommy rushes to Kincaid whenRoland is tossed on the ground. He's alive, barely. He's
bloody, his eyes black and swollen, some teeth missing.
Miller drops down as well.
TOMMY
You bastard!
Tommy charges at Miller, who grabs Tommy's throat, lifting
him up and squeezing it as Tommy dangles helplessly.
Tommy!

RUBY

Ruby rushes up to Miller. With his other hand he grabs her

and tries to suffocate her.
Grace looks up, her eyes soaked with tears. She glares.
GRACE
Leave them alone!
Grace yells and erupts in an aura of light, like she was
going Super-Sayian.
She transforms into the Werewolf, looking more fearsome than
ever.
The Werewolf launches herself at Miller like a torpedo,
pinning him to the wall.
Miller kicks the Werewolf in the stomach, getting her off
him. He tries to counter the Werewolf with some martial arts
but is clearly outmatched.
TOMMY
It's over, Kincaid. Your agents are
gone, you're defenseless.
KINCAID
I am many things, Mr. Preston, but
never defenseless.

116.
Kincaid starts chanting in a weird language; as he does, he
ages, his hair growing whiter, more wrinkles on his face.
TOMMY
What the hell are you trying to puWooden hands reach out and grab Tommy's shoulders. He
screams.
Wood sprites have emerged from the walls; they look like the
upper bodies of people, their lower halves still in the
walls; their faces are crude eyes and a mouth, akin to a jacko'-lantern; their expression is sad, their cries moaning.
TOMMY
Oh God why does everything has to
be so weird!?
Kincaid turns to the Emissary.
KINCAID
Emissary, I am beyond embarrassed
at my fellow humans actions during
this sacred ceremony.
EMISSARY
It is quite unusual.
KINCAID
Yes, and I feel just terrible
asking this, but, well, Mr. Miller
does seem to be having trouble
restraining that girl; perhaps, you
could lend some assistance...?
The Emissary is silent for a moment; then, his hand glows,
pulsating with energy, and he aims it at Miller, shooting a
beam of light into his body.
Miller screams, and falls. He's kneeling on the ground,
convulsing, moaning. He seems to be in severe pain.
His eyes light up and he screams, the floor cracking up
underneath him, the pieces floating into the sky.
His suit SHREDS and his body mutates and expands. He raises a
hand, which is now huge and misshapen, a claw of clay.
Miller rises, now resembling a life-size Hulk candle that's
partially melted.
He smacks the Werewolf into the wall.

117.
MILLER
I've been waiting a long time for
this!
He picks the Werewolf up and starts slamming her on the
ground again and again.
The gang wants to help, but the Wood Sprites hold on tight.
Miller grinds the Werewolf into the wall.
RUBY
We gotta do something!
TOMMY
I know! This thing's got me tight,
how bout you?
RUBY
I might, if I could just get it to
hold a little looser.
TOMMY
I got an idea.
Tommy starts screaming and swirling, throwing a big tantrum
like a little kid.
Eventually, the Wood Sprite holding Ruby reaches out to help
restrain Tommy; Ruby takes the opportunity and breaks free.
TOMMY
Ha! See Mom, acting like a dumb
baby did get me what I want!
Ruby runs, chased by the Wood Sprite, its torso moving
through the wooden floor like water.
Ruby grabs a ceremonial torch and burns the Wood Sprite. It
screams and vanishes back into the floor.
Kincaid appears behind her.
KINCAID
Impressive.
Ruby takes out her pistol and FIRES. The bullets vanish
around Kincaid.
KINCAID
A very useful charm I acquired.
Ruby throws the gun itself, hitting Kincaid in the face.

118.

Ah!

KINCAID

Kincaid falls to the ground, and Ruby reaches into his pocket
and pulls out the Jade Bullet, puts it into the pistol and
fires it into Miller's back. He staggers and drops the
Werewolf.
Magical energies (various differently-colored strips of
light) start to leak out of Miller's body at an increasing
rate.
The Werewolf strikes Millers body, her hand going right
through the other end.
Miller's body explodes, with the exception of his head which

EMISSARY
No. Time is up.
The Emissary looks down on Kincaid.
EMISSARY
The deal has been broken. You know
the penalty.
Kincaid's face goes blank, before he's able to reply.
KINCAID
Yes. Yes I do.
The Emissary raises and lowers his staff, opening a portal in
space and time.
The portal is a spiral of energy, gathering wind while
emitting unearthly howls and noises.
Kincaid cautiously walks towards it, then turns to Tommy,
Ruby and Grace.
KINCAID
You will take care of her, won't
you?
Kincaid smiles, then slowly walks into the portal.
His body stretches out, not in physical sense but as if he
was a picture in Photoshop being spread out. Kincaid screams
as tentacles rise out the portal, grab him, and drag him
down.
The Emissary walks over the portal as if it wasn't there. He
bows to the gang and takes off the top of his head, revealing
his brain.
Good day.

EMISSARY

He levitates down in the portal, which gradually shrinks,

closing after he's gone.
Damn.
Uh, guys?

EXT. TRAIN - MOUNTAINS - NIGHT

The train is heading for a cliff.

120.
The remaining agents are jumping off the train.
The gang leap off the train, right beforeThe train goes straight off the cliff, plunging into a chasm
and bursting into flames. A vortex of magical energy shoots
into the sky, before fading.
FADE TO BLACK
EXT. ROAD - DAY
An old rusty jalopy sprints down the road.
INT. JALOPY - DAY
A YOUNG MAN listens to the radio as he drives, playing the
end of a Christmas carol.
RADIO ANNOUNCER
Well folks I hope youre having a
merry Christmas because the folks
on Wall Street sure arent. Not
only did the DOW drop to its lowest
in months, several CEOs met with
odd ends last night.
The driver sees something up ahead and slows down.
RADIO ANNOUNCER
Newspaper magnate Tyson Diggs
suffered a brain aneurysm. Steel
industrialist Arnold Curtis fell
off his newly-completed skyscraper
after being attacked by a pack of
bats.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
It's the gang, looking tired; Tommy waves his tommy gun.
RADIO ANNOUNCER
And shipping tycoon Kevin Mitchum
was carried off into the woods by
what witnesses described as some
kind of 'man-ape.' Anything to
avoid the missus, eh?
The driver turns off the radio and gets out.
TOMMY
We're taking this.

121.
YOUNG MAN
You're...you're the Tommy Preston
Gang, ain'cha? Golly I've been
following you for the longest timeTOMMY
Yeah, thanks, we're taking your car
YOUNG MAN
You want this piece of shit?
TOMMY
Yeah, here.
He THROWS a handful of $100 bills at the guy's face; the gang
gets in and takes off.
INT. JALOPY - DAY
The gang is silent for a few moments.
TOMMY
Damn that was...some night. You're
going to be all right Grace, with
all the...stuff?
GRACE
Beats me. Guess I'll just have to
see how I deal when I grow up.
TOMMY
Well, it's not like there are
people who are trained to help
children overcome trauma, so good
enough for me!
GOSLING
That Kincaid...imagine being
corrupted by that power. I'm just
glad we have men like my uncle
Edgar in the government, who
understand we serve the people, and
don't just want power for their own
twisted aims.
TOMMY
Oh yeah, Gosling you're still here.
MAURA
He can't arrest us. We're free men
now.
Yeah....

TOMMY

122.
Beat.
MAURA
So what now?
TOMMY
Well, from a moral standpoint, we
should find some place to settle
down. Find good, honest jobs and
live moral lives, send Grace to
school, just be good, ordinary salt
of the earth citizens. Yeah...
Beat.
GRACE
I think we should rob banks for a
little longer.
RUBY
There's one 3 miles up north of
here!
TOMMY
Roland, you okay with waiting a few
more hours to receive medical
attention?
Roland weakly gives a thumbs-up.
GOSLING
Uh, as someone who hopes to regain
a position of legal authority, I
can't really be part of thisTOMMY
Oh no prob Goz just tell em we
threw you out of the car.
GOSLING
Oh thanks guys IMaura opens the door and kicks Gosling out of the car. The
gang laughs.
TOMMY
'Ryan Gosling' what kind of goofy
name is that? Anyway, you sure
about this Grace? You don't want a
normal life or some shit?

123.
GRACE
Nah. I'm a Wolf God, I don't know
what kind of life I'm going to
have.
Grace grabs Tommy and Ruby's hands they do that hand-hug
thing.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
The car goes off into the horizon.
