ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The UNIDO Regional Office (RO) in Bangkok, Thailand, is responsible for UNIDOs
programmes in five countries of coverage, namely, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia,
Myanmar, and Thailand. The Regional Office reports to HQ through the Asia-Pacific
Bureau.
Under the direct supervision of the UNIDO Representative in the RO, the National
Coordinator for Programmes and Operations will be responsible for (i) supporting the RO
in coordinating with government agencies, international organisations and the private
sector in Myanmar (ii) supporting the RO and Project Managers (PMs) in the
development of new, and implementation of ongoing, projects in Myanmar; (iii)
supporting the RO in monitoring the implementation of ongoing projects and
programmes in Myanmar; (iv) supporting the RO in coordinating with the national
project staff located in Myanmar and working on UNIDO projects; (v) preparing various
reports on TC and maintaining appropriate coordination with UNCT; (vi) supporting the
RO in ensuring UNIDOs visibility in the international community and maintaining good
relations with counterparts in Myanmar.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In particular, the incumbent is expected to carry out the following duties:

1. Taking part in UNCT and Development Partners meetings,
including relevant sector working groups and meeting with donors
as assigned by the RO, and reporting back to the RO on these
meetings.

2. Holding discussions with the relevant government and nongovernment counterparts prior to the development of new project
concepts in accordance with the advice received from PMs and the
RO. Supporting them in the formulation of agreed project concepts
and, later, in the development of full project documents. Submitting
the project concepts and proposals to the relevant counterparts for
review and approval. Transmitting to the PMs any comments and
questions which the counterparts may have.
3. Working in close cooperation with the national project staff,
overseeing the implementation of ongoing projects. This will
include liaising with counterparts, recruiting local project staff, and
trouble-shooting any problems in project implementation and
reporting to RO.
4. Monitoring UNIDOs project portfolio in Myanmar, in particular,
preparing the bi-annual reports and any other monitoring reports
required of UNIDO by the government and the RO with appropriate
follow-ups and providing feedback to RO.
5. Undertaking any other related duties and assignments as may be
required by the UR in the RO.

MINIMUM ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This post is for a Myanmar national only.
Education:
Advanced university (Masters) degree in Economics, Engineering, Business
Administration or other related fields.
Technical and Functional Experience:
Minimum of 7 years working experience in the field of industrial and economic
development.
Previous working experience with development projects is an asset, in particular with
UN/Government projects.
Familiarity with the UN system is an asset.
Good command of office software, such as Microsoft Office products, including
Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Able to work in teams, results-oriented, self-motivated, with planning and


organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Languages:
Myanmar mother-tongue.
Good command of both written and spoken English
Reporting language
English
