Meaningful Parent Engagement – Money Saving Tips
for Proms
1. For tuxedo rental, go for the one with the highest discount. Student
and prom discounts help tuxedo rental places compete for your
prom-going teen's dollars. Call around to the different places before
going in and finding the best bargain.
2. Take a disposable camera to the dance. Taking your own pictures
can cut down on getting the larger prom pictures package.
Disposable cameras work well at these types of events because you
do not need to be too worried about losing it, like you would an
expensive digital camera.
3. Scour shoe sale fliers. Never buy sparkly or dyed prom shoes for full
price.
4. If you are getting a limousine, share the ride with one or two other
couples. Otherwise, it's less expensive to use your own cars or have
a parent chauffer.
5. Host a before prom hair and makeup party instead of paying high
rates at the hair dresser.
6. Borrow jewelry from older relatives. The vintage look is always
appropriate for events like the prom and is really trendy right now.
Why not wear the real thing and save money to boot?
7. Think ahead when choosing the style of your dress. Go for a look
that can be wore again at weddings or New Year's Eve parties.
1) Limited Kaiser paid internships available this summer for high
school students. Students can pick up an application from Ms.
Meltvedt beginning Tuesday April 6th.
2) All seniors should have submitted all community service hours
to Ms. Meltvedt. Updates on the Diploma of Excellence will be
given to all seniors by mid April
3) Blood drive is coming up on April 14th. All students who are
age 16 and older are encouraged to sign up the week of April 5th.
4) Interviews for students who applied to the Sacramento city
College Summer academy will take place on Tuesday April 6th at
Health Professions High. Students will be told when their interview
time will be.
5) The Creative Writing Club will still take Anthology submissions
(poems, stories, essays) during the week of April 5th, after Spring
break. Turn in submissions to Ms. Meltvedt or your English
teacher.

Exciting news for parents – the Parent Portal for our
new student data base system, Zangle, is now available
for parents. You will be able to check yours student’s,
attendance, grades, homework and discipline via the
internet. To obtain your Password and PIN number,
please come to our office with a photo ID, complete the
district request form and we will supply your password
and PIN. Once you are logged into the website, you will
be able to personalize your PIN number. We are sorry
but, because of confidentiality, we are unable to give you
this information over the phone or to third parties. If you
have any questions, please call 264-3262
LANGUAGE LAB is open every Tuesday and Thursday
(except 1st Thursday) in room C-3 for Spanish 1 and
Spanish 2 support. We also have information and limited
access to an online program for teaching French,
German, Portuguese and Japanese; this program is for
personal growth only- NOT FOR CREDITS!!!!!
MATH TUTORING – Monday, Wednesday &
Thursday during lunch in Mr. Hoffman’s room
P.E. UNIFORMS, shorts and t-shirt are now being
sold in the office. Pick up an order form from Mrs.
Washington. The cost is $20.00. Items can be
