Objective of internship
I would be interning in KPMG Petaling Jaya, Malaysia from 21 st December 2015 until 11th
March 2016 in the tax department. Through the internship, the key skill areas which I aim to
develop are the personal skills, communication skills, and the application of technical knowledge
necessary for the department in conducting the work assigned. Personal skills in terms of my
ability to learn to deal with different situations and the ability to perform task promptly and to
achieve the common objectives collectively with the team and my seniors. By working toward
the common goals with the team, I also wish to develop a sense of organizational skills in
assimilating into the culture of the company, understand the teams vision and make effort to
contribute to the firm during my internship period. I intend to experience the exposure to the
environment and expectations of performance on the part of a tax professional in the real
practice. I also wish to get the opportunity to interact with my mentors or seniors that would
provide me with support in my early stages of the internship and form an example of the
expected behavior in the workplace for my future reference. Perhaps the internship serves as an
opportunity for me in the development of my networking. The professional contacts I gain may
be able to help me in the future by assisting me in securing the full-time employment in the
intern company or acting as a reference for my application in other companies that with related
profession. Moreover, I intend to gain a better perspective of post-graduation employment by
applying the principles and theories I have developed from the lectures and hopefully through
this practical application enable for me to create an easier transition from the university to the
working world.
Personal SWAT analysis

I believe that my adaptability may help me better transiting myself to the working environment
as I have several working experiences previously and had informational communications with
my previous employer regarding to the workplace ethics and behavior. Being a good team player
is one of my strength and I can perform this ability by making valuable contribution to the team
in completing a project, at the same time, this can help me to refine my skills. Furthermore,
being a valuable team player and ability to work well with others is integral for me to create
good impression to my colleagues and it may open or assure my career opportunities because as
an intern whatever effort I made will be visible to my seniors and manager, and may have the
chance to participate in more critical projects. Thus, hopefully my objectives of developing
organizational skills and the application of technical knowledge can both be attained with the
aids of my strength.
On the other hand, being overly sensitive could be my weakness which lead to overthinking and
easily worry. I am poor in handling stress and perhaps this would be one of the challenge for me
in experiencing the work field. Considering if there are regular meeting to be conducted in the
department, a fear of public speaking would be my major weakness which probably would make
me lose out in performance as compared to the other interns. Failing to control my anxiety when
presenting ideas or sharing opinion often takes the passion out of my presentations. Moreover, I
have a strong, compulsive need to do things correctly and as flawless as possible, which as a
result lead to a slower work progress and sometimes fall behind schedule. Acknowledging these
weaknesses is good for me as I am clearly understood that by overcoming these particular
aspects will enable me to switch them into the opportunities to improve myself better. For
instance, overcoming my fear of public speaking would then secure me from the opportunities in
presenting ideas to my superior or clients

Timeline
During the first week, I was required to read up and understand the transfer pricing guidelines
before I am assigning to any task. Other than that, there are samples of the transfer pricing
documentation given to me and the other interns to further understanding the work nature and the
presentation of the document format, the requirement of the guidelines and how can the team to
work together help the clients to comply with the transfer pricing rules. Second week onwards, I
got the opportunity to follow one of the senior to the CCM to carry out the screening process for
establishing an arm-length price for transfer pricing of the client company. Subsequently, I was
taught to prepare and constantly update the list of potential comparable companies as a result of
the screening process. The tasks assigned to me would be on case-by-case basis rather than
following a scheduled timeline. I acknowledged that I will be learning to prepare the summary of
financial statements, prepare the documents relating to the overview of the industries, and to use
different methods to establish the arms-length price for transfer pricing.
