Implants
Tubal ligation is an
operation to stop a
woman from getting
pregnant. It is
PERMANENT.
Therefore, you
should only consider
this procedure if you
are sure you will
never want another
child. The Fallopian
tubes, which carry
the eggs from the
ovary to the womb
(uterus), are
burned, clipped, cut
or tied (the tubes
are sealed). The
tubes are therefore
closed so the sperm
and egg do not
meet. The egg then
dissolves and is
absorbed by the
body.
An implant is a
small flexible rod
that is placed just
under your skin in
your upper arm. It
releases a
progestogen
hormone similar to
the natural
progesterone that
women produce in
their ovaries and
works for up to three
years.
Stroke
or
Cerebral
Vascular
Accident (CVA)
A stroke is the sudden death of brain
cells due to a problem with the blood
supply. When blood flow to the brain
is impaired, oxygen and important
nutrients cannot be delivered. The
result is injury and then death to
brain cells resulting in abnormal brain
function. Blood flow to the brain can
be disrupted by either a blockage or
rupture of an artery to the brain.
