TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Toxicity for oral ingestion of ammonium bisulphite is slight because ammonium is

readily excreted in urine. Sulphite salts cause gastric irritation by liberation of
sulfurous acid. The ammonium salt is basic and may be irritating to corrosive tissues
depending on the concentration.
