103.01 Transporte de Transformadores

These instructions apply to transport of transformers

> 5 MVA. In order to reduce shipment weight,
sometimes, oil is drained totally or partially from
transformer.

Estas instrucciones aplican para el transporte de

transformadores > 5 MVA. Para reducir el peso de
transporte algunas veces el aceite se extrae total o
parcialmente del transformador.

In small transformers transported filled of oil and

with conservator tank installed, check the correct

When the transformer is dispatched without

breather or in sealed tanks, the space between
cover and oil must be filled with dry gas.

Cuando el transformador se despache sin el

deshumectador de aire o en el caso de tanques

Transformers that have large weights and

dimensions are transported without oil. In this case
the tank is filled with dry gas a top-up device is used
in order to keep a positive pressure inside during
transport or storage.

dimensiones se transportan sin aceite, llenos de
gas seco y con un dispositivo de recarga que
asegure mantener una presin positiva durante
todo el transporte y/o almacenamiento.

According to ASTM D 1993-03 that defines
composition and properties of the nitrogen types
used as insulating gas, when transformers must be
filled with nitrogen, it is only allowed to use nitrogen
type III; which must be at least 99.993 % of pure
nitrogen, with content of moisture smaller than 30
ppm and dew point temperature<-52C,

- Nitrgeno:
Segn la especificacin de la norma ASTM D 199303 que define la composicin y caractersticas de
los tipos de nitrgeno utilizados como gas aislante,
el nico nitrgeno permitido para el llenado de
transformadores es el Tipo III; el cual debe ser al

According to ASTM D 3283-98 that defines
composition and properties for dry air used as
insulating gas, this must contain at least 20% of
oxygen with a humidity content smaller than 30 ppm
and dew point temperature <-52C.

For transporting the transformer with nitrogen, in

case of an internal inspection, the nitrogen must be
replaced by extra dry air to DIN 3188. Before this is
done, the nitrogen must be removed from the tank
by evacuation (< 1 mbar).

The gas filling is used to avoid humidity entry in
transformer core and coil assembly. See installation
instruction SAT/MA 102.02 Measuring the moisture
content (dew point test).

Transport on truck
Transformer must be loaded on the vehicle
according to its center of gravity; it must be tie up
adequately according to its weight in order to avoid
any movement during transport.
Inclinations above 15 during transport could cause
the transformer tip over.
Installed parts that jut tout from he transformer must
be covered adequately in order to avoid damages
during transport.
Truck speed should be controlled according to
roads condition in order to avoid internal damage in
the transformer; accelerations above 2g must be
avoided.

Transporte en camin
El transformador se debe colocar en el vehculo de
transporte teniendo en cuenta su centro de
gravedad,
la
carga
debe
asegurarse
adecuadamente teniendo en cuenta su peso para
evitar que se pueda mover.
Inclinaciones mayores a 15 durante el transporte
podran ocasionar que el transformador se vuelque.
Las partes que sobresalen del transformador deben
ser adecuadamente protegidas para evitar daos
durante el transporte.
La velocidad del vehculo debe ser controlada
segn el estado de la carretera para evitar daos
internos en el transformador, aceleraciones
mayores a 2g deben ser evitadas.

Lift the transformer with hydraulic jacks; these must

only be supported on appropriate resistance points
on tank.

Raise the transformer as uniformly as possible by 4

hydraulic jacks fitted either with individual pumps or
a common pump with individual control of each jack.

Insert rails and support it on wood beams pile and

platform truck, for that, lift transformer enough to put
rails, next install transformer wheels and load the
transformer onto rails.

For transformers safety, to use hydraulic jacks with
sufficiently high capacity to enable two of them
alone can move the whole transformer weight.

Para la propia seguridad del transformador, utilizar

gatos hidrulicos con capacidad suficiente para
permitir que dos de ellos soporten todo el peso del
transformador.

Place steel plates (approx. 300x300x15 mm) under

the hydraulic the jacks to distribute the pressure
uniformly. Use plywood or hardwood plates
between jacks on lifting points on transformer.

Colocar placas de acero (de aprox. 300x300x15

mm) bajo los gatos para distribuir la presin
uniformemente al piso. Usar madera resistente o

Caution: Never lay the cables or chains around the

radiators if they are assembled with the transformer.
Never pull in jerks. Always attach the pulling ropes
to the wagon or trailer. Lift the transformer up over
the deep-well wagon or trailer by the hydraulic
jacks, remove the wheels and set it down on an
interposed softwood layer approx. 25 mm thick.
Lift the deep-well wagon or trailer by hydraulic jacks
and after removing the adjacent square timbers also
pull out the packing from below the underside of the
wagon well.

montados. Nunca dar jalonazos fuertes. Siempre

These maneuvers of insurance of the load of

transformers necessitate specially trained personnel
who are supplied by the transporting firm.

Bracing the transformer

Transformer whose wheels are bolted should be

packed underneath with softwood in such a way
that the wheel clearance is at least 20 mm.
Transformers whose wheels have been removed
should be packed directly underneath the tank
bottom with softwood. Brace the transformers in the
longitudinal axis with wooden beams.

Los transformadores que tienen las ruedas

instaladas deben ser embalados en su parte inferior
con madera blanda de manera tal que quede a una
distancia de 20 mm de las ruedas. Los
transformadores a los cuales les han sido
removidas las ruedas deben tener un empaque
directamente bajo la cara inferior de la cuba del
transformador con madera blanda. Reforzar el

For the safety of the transformer, brace the

transformer with twisted tensioning steel cables or
chains to the deep-well wagon o trailer to avoid for
the change in the center of gravity in curves. Use

together for transformers weighing up to 2 tons and
12 for those weighting more. If possible, use steel
cables with turnbuckles. For securing the
transformers see Fig. 11.

Attach the tensioning cable to the lugs of the

transformer (to lift the cover) or to hooks and to the
appropriate lugs or struts on the wagon. Do not use
neither hemp, not plastic ropes.

Colocar el cable tensionado a los soportes del

transformador (para levantar la tapa) o a los
ganchos y a las apropiadas orejas del vagn. No
utilizar sogas de camo, fique ni plstico.

Warning: If the center of gravity is high, use a lowloader motor truck to ensure that the transformer
stands balanced during transportation.

Precaucin: Si el centro de gravedad es alto,

utilizar camabaja motorizada para asegurar que el
transformador permanezca nivelado durante el
transporte.

If the transformer is large and not specially

designed for rigorous handling, the angle of
inclination should not exceed approx. 6% in the
direction of travel.

Si el transformador es grande y no ha sido

diseado especialmente para un manejo riguroso,
el ngulo de inclinacin no debe exceder
aproximadamente el 6% en la direccin del viaje.

The deviation may be slightly more in the case of

smaller transformers. Always refer to SIEMENS in
cases where extreme gradients, drops or
inclinations at right angles to the direction of travel
are likely to be encountered. Avoid heavy blows.

transformadores ms pequeos. Dirigirse siempre a
SIEMENS en casos donde las pendientes sean
extremas, descensos o inclinaciones con ngulos

Transporting to the site

Transporte hasta el sitio

When transporting the transformer by flatbed truck,

first travel over the route to inspect the road
structure, conditions and its width (it should be at
least 1.5 times wider than the vehicle). The weakest
bearing points on a route are generally bridges,
manhole covers and curbsides. Reinforce the weak
points if necessary. If the bridges are of low carrying
capacity, pull the trailer over the bridge with a winch
so that the bridge does not have to bear the weight
of the tractor and trailer simultaneously. Pay

Transformers can also be towed on their own

wheels for considerable distances (several hundred
meters) if the axle bearings are well greased; the
inner side of the rails should also be greased,
particularly in curves.

To change the direction of travel, run the

transformer exactly over the center of the rail
crossing, raise it, turn the wheels at right angles,
lower the transformer, pull it in the new direction
and fit clamps on the rails. For details, see the
installation instruction SAT/MA 104.03 Fitting of
wheels to transformers. The smallest oil filled
transformers have relocatable wheels (unflanged).

For routes with gradients of up to approx. 8 %,

including non-metallic roads, the traction power
required is 3.5 H.P for each ton of the gross weight
(tractor, trailer and transformer). If several tractors
are used, pay particular attention to see that the
gearing is the same.

If the transformer is transported by train and the

foundation isnt adjacent to the rails, the transformer
must be transferred to a motor truck. Drive the
motor truck right up to the rail way wagon. Jack up
the transformer, pack both vehicles underneath,
build-up the square timbers, mount the transformer
wheels, lay the rails and put the transformer onto
the truck by means of pull lifts or chain hoists,
remove the wheels and lower the transformer.

Unloading and moving to the foundation

Descargue y movimiento hacia el sitio de

On site generally there are rail for transporting

equipment, in this case the transformer, to the
installation point.

En el sitio de instalacin generalmente hay rieles

para transportar los equipos, en este caso el
transformador, hasta el punto de instalacin.

If the foundation is directly near a railway siding, run

the deep-well wagon right up to the foundation and
unload the transformer in the reverse sequence to
that described in the loading section (Fig. 8 y 9).
Raise the wagon and pack it underneath, lay square
timber up to the level of the wagon floor, raise the
transformer over the deep-well wagon, attach the
wheels, lay the rails and pull the transformer onto
the square timbers. Jack the transformer up to
remove the packing to match the height of the
foundation and lay the rails to the latter. Pull the

If the transformer is in the wrong position in relation

to the foundation and it cannot be repositioned on a
turntable, it can be rotated on its underframe without
the wheels. Build a turning surface of wood, lay
sheet metal on it, grease it and attach two pull lifts
to two diagonally opposed corners of the
transformer and pull evenly (Fig. 12). The
transformer can be turned by up to 225 degrees
without the pull lifts having to be re-attached.

equivocada en relacin al sitio de instalacin y no
puede ser reposicionado con girarlo simplemente,
este puede ser rotado sobre su armazn bajo sin
las ruedas. Construir una superficie giratoria de
madera, colocar la lmina de metal sobre ella,
engrasarla y acoplarle dos mecanismos de empuje
a dos esquinas diagonalmente opuestas al
transformador y halar uniformemente (Fig. 12). El
transformador puede ser girado sobre s hasta 225

reacoplados.

The transformer can also be turned on a lager,

heavier-gauge sheet steel plate. The plate must be
packed underneath with gravel and sand. The plate
should be 5 to 15 mm thick.

El transformador tambin puede ser girado sobre

una placa grande y pesada a la medida. Al plato se
le debe colocar grava y arena debajo y debe tener
de 5 a 15 mm de espesor.

Insulating oil drums must be storage or shipment

suitably, so that are not exposed them to higher
temperatures, outdoor, humidity and mechanical
stretch.

Oil drums with content of waste oil and oil for use in
transformers must be identifiable with Safety data
sheet and labeled, as precaution during the period
of storage and shipment.

Es indispensable que los barriles con contenido de

aceite de residuo y los barriles con contenido de
aceite
dielctrico

transformadores, se encuentren debidamente
identificados con la respectiva Hoja de Seguridad y
rotulados como medida de precaucin para su

insulating oil is classified as Class 9 Dangerous
substances several.

Fig. 30 shows the label for Dangerous substances

identify the dielectric oil drums, vehicles of transport
and transformers during shipping.

Debe sobrecalentarse para arder sobre los 93 C
Azul (Peligro a la salud): Grado de peligrosidad 1
Ligeramente peligroso
Amarillo (Peligro de reactividad) : Grado de
