SKI SCHOOL DIRECTORS EXAM SHADOW PROGRAM

The purpose of the Ski School Directors Exam Shadow Program is to help PSIA-C Member Ski Schools better
train their instructors for the certification exam. This does not mean that the people shadowing the exam will walk
away with all of the answers to the exam. The program is intended to allow the people who train ski school
instructors to observe an exam as an outsider, not as a participant. The observer will monitor how the exam is
conducted, then return to his/her ski school to help candidates develop their teaching, technical and skiing skills for
the exam. There is no education credit awarded for this program.

This program is offered to all PSIA-C Member Ski Schools. The objective of the Certification/Education
Committee is to provide the best environment possible for an examination. The presence of a ski school director
or designated observer should not encumber the group in any way. The following are the requirements and an
outline of the program:

A. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SHADOWING

1) Must be a ski school director, assistant director or a person directly responsible for training
in the ski school.
2) Persons other than the ski school director must have the written approval of the ski school
director.
3) Must belong to a PSIA-C Member Ski School.
4) Must be an active Level III certified member of PSIA-C in good standing.

B. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHADOWING

1) Application must be made on the PSIA-C Shadow Program application form (see other
side.)
2) The Shadow Program application form must be received by PSIA-C before the published
deadline for the event.
3) PSIA-C will forward the application to the Event Coordinator.

C. PROGRAM POLICIES AND RULES

1) There is no event fee for the Shadow Program.
2) Lift tickets, lodging, meals, travel and other expenses are the direct responsibility of the
individual shadowing.
3) No PSIA-C education credit is given for shadowing an exam.
4) Applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis.
5) Only one observer per group is allowed.
6) ETS members and other education personnel have first priority.
7) Observers may not shadow a group containing members from their own ski school.
8) Observers may not have active participation in the exam group activities or discussion with
the examiner or candidates.
9) Observers may speak with the Examiner in charge after the group has been dismissed for the
day.
10) The Examiner in charge of the group will remove observers conflicting with exam group
activities.
11) The observer should report to the Event Coordinator upon arrival at the event to be assigned
to an exam group.
