General Notes

When Advantech Studio is installing in any computer, it must key-in a CD key which can be
find on envelops. When Advantech Studio is installed completely, it is generated a individual
Site Code, composed by 18 chars. This code is composed for alphanumerical chars (0 up to
9 and A up to F).
If Advantech Studio will be installed in another computer, the Site Code will be another one.
If Advantech Studio will installed again in the same computer, the Site Code will be modified.
After authorizing a softkey, the Site Code is modified too.

I. Getting the Current Site Code

The first part of the procedure to register a Softkey to Advantech Studio is to get its Current
Site Code. The procedure to get it, step by step is described below:

1. Install the Advantech Studio on a microcomputer and run its “Register” module from the
“Advantech Studio Tools” program.

2. In the “Protection Manager” window, set the “Protection Type” to “SoftKey” as shown
below (make sure that "Demo Mode" check box is unchecked):

3. Press the “Check” button to get the “Current Site Code” being used for the Advantech
Studio. This code changes for each new Studio installation or for each new SoftKey
enabled.

4. Send the code in the “Current Site Code” field directly to Advantech Ltd.

II. Typing the correct Site Key

After getting the Current Site Key and send it directly to Advantech Ltd. You'll receive a code
which matches with the Current Site code from your Studio installation. The steps below
describe how to Authorize a official Softkey by using the Site Key sent by Advantech:

1. Run “Register” module from the “Advantech Studio Tools” program again.

2. Make sure that the “Protection Type” is set to “SoftKey” as shown below (make sure that
"Demo Mode" check box is unchecked):

3. Press the “Check” button to open the "Site Key" dialog window. Type the Site Key code
(sent by Advantech) in the Site Key field and press the "Authorize" button to register the
new softkey. Notice that the Status field shows the protection type authorized.
