APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT TRAINING AT DMRL

DMRL provides training to B. Tech. and M. Tech. students of the following disciplines.

METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING

MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

MATERIALS ENGINEERING

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY

NANO TECHNOLOGY/NANO SCIENCE

OTHER MATERIALS SCIENCE/METALLURGY RELATED BRANCHES

Occasionally, students of other branches may also be considered. However, such openings may
not be available every year. HRD, DMRL (hrd@dmrl.drdo.in) may be contacted to find out
whether opening in any particular branch other than the above mentioned ones is available. The
broad guidelines for B. Tech and M. Tech students training are as below.

B. TECH. TRAINING

1. B. Tech. students will be offered training in the form of either Technical Orientation
or Short Project Work/Internship.
2. Students who have completed their 6th semester and have not started the 7th semester
will be offered Technical Orientation for about one month during summer (between
May-July). During the orientation, the student will visit various groups of DMRL to see
and learn about the advanced equipments in these groups. They will interact with
scientists and understand the functioning of these equipment. NO PROJECT WORK will
be offered to these students.
3. Students who have completed their 7th semester and have not started their 8th semester
will be offered Short Project Work/Internship for a period of 1-2 months during
winter (between Dec.-Feb.).
4. Students not fulfilling the criteria mentioned under points 2 and 3 above will not be
eligible for training at DMRL.
5. Approximately 25 students per year will be enrolled each for Technical Orientation
and Short Project Work/Internship. However, DMRL reserves the right to increase or
decrease the intake.

M. TECH. TRAINING

M. Tech. students will be offered training in the form of Project Work.


The duration of the project will be typically 10-12 months.
The topic of Project Work will be decided by DMRL.
Approximately 10-15 students per year will be enrolled for Project Work. However,
DMRL reserves the right to increase or decrease the intake.

GENERAL POINTS

1. In general, first-come-first-served policy will be followed for taking eligible students.


However, DMRL reserves the right to change the criteria at any time without prior
notice.
2. A student desirous of undergoing training needs to send a detailed resume/bio-data
(listing branch, grades/marks etc) to hrd@dmrl.drdo.in at least one month in advance
from the date when he/she intends to start training. Based on the vacancy and the
candidates suitability, DMRL may invite him/her for training.
3. In general, only meritorious students having a CGPA of 7.0 or higher (out of 10) or
equivalent will be considered for training at DMRL.
4. On being invited by DMRL, the student should report to HRD Group at DMRL with the
following two documents:
i.
A recommendation letter from his/her Head of Department (HOD)
ii.
An Indemnity bond (format and sample enclosed)
After ensuring that the above two documents are in order, the student will be enrolled
for training.
5. Students who complete the training successfully will be awarded an appropriate
certificate by DMRL.
6. DMRL will not provide any monetary benefits (stipend/scholarship etc.) or
accommodation during training.
7. Although DMRL strives to provide training opportunities to as many eligible students as
possible, it reserves the right not to offer training to any particular student without
mentioning the reason.
8. DMRL also reserves the right to not offer student training at all to either B. Tech
students or M. Tech students or both in any given year without giving prior information
or reason.
9. Misconduct by any student inside and outside DMRL, during his/her training period will
be viewed seriously and may lead to termination of his/her training. Irregular
attendance during training may also lead to premature termination of the training.

Guardians of the named student or other Legal Representatives will make any claim
against DMRL or against the Government or against any Officer or other rank or any
person in the service of the Government, in respect of any loss or injury to property
or person including injury resulting in death, in which the said student
________________________ may suffer, while the said student is carrying out
his/her Project Activity or while he/she is within the DMRL premises. I understand
and agree that no COMPENSATION will be paid by the Government or any Officer
or other rank or any person in the service of the Government in respect of any such
loss or injury. I further agree so as to bind myself on behalf of the
____________________________________Institute against any claim which may
be made by any THIRD PARTY against DMRL during or in connection with such a
project work being carried out by the said student at DMRL.
It is further declared that the stamp duty payable on this understanding shall
