I have attached a copy of the Looking Back Bible Study Guide for your
convenience.
You might chose an icebreaker related to the last few weeks, especially if
this is your first meeting of the year. Like, A year or two from now, what

After several have shared, it may be a good moment to pause for opening
prayer after this ask for two or three people to praywith you or another
closing.
You also may want to start the year with prayer cards. Everyone write one
request on a 3x5 card that is important to them. Hand them in, shuffle and
hand them back out. Simply ask that each pray for the person and the request
on the card regularly over the next several weeks. This should be held in
confidence between the receiver and the giver.
Some questions for digesting the message might include
(Might begin by having the passage read aloud.)
How relevant do you anticipate this series being to youand why?
What would be missing if a message like this one had not been included and

Money Wise: Ah-Hahs from Proverbs

What Matters Most

Proverbs 30:7-9

There are different levels of wisdom. Wisdom that sets one up for a no-regrets
kind of life is the loftiest of all. Such is the wisdom of Proverbs 30:7-9. We cant
truly be wise in relationship to money unless we have decided for ourselves what
matters most. Have you nailed that down yet?
Thinking It Through (agree/disagree/consider/contemplate)

Riches enlarge rather than satisfy appetites.

~Thomas Fuller

Never has a people expected so much more than the world can offer.

Every money decision is a spiritual decision.

Play the Movie

Proverbs 27:23-27

Money matters. How we think about it and use it say a lot about who we are and
what matter most to us. But how we relate to money also tells us a lot about the
future. In fact, one of the most common themes surrounding the Bibles teaching
on money is that how we interact with money puts us on a path towards a
destination. And if we can have the wisdom to think to play the movie of our
lives forward, well approach our current reality differently.

Working It Out
1. Read Proverbs 27:23-27. What initially stands out to you when you read this
passage?

2. How does this apply to more than flocks and herds, but money specifically?

3. What is Solomon encouraging the reader to do now? And what will the outcome of
those actions be in the future (v. 26-27)?

4. Why do you think it is difficult to live with a future perspective?
