Downloading:
1.

Gotowww.designofmachinery.comanddownloadthedemonstrationversion
oftheprogramyouwantontothecomputerthatyouwanttoinstalliton.This
willdownloadazipfilecontainingtheinstallcode.

2.

Createafolderonyourharddrivewiththenameofthedownloadedprogram.

3.

Placethezipfilewithinthisfolderandunzipitscontentsintothatfolder.

Installing:

InstallationProcedure:
a. InanyOSexceptVistajustrunthesetup.exeorProgramname_Install.exe
filetoinstalltheprogram.
b. IntheVistaoperatingsystemyouMUSTruntheinstallationprogramas
administratorinorderforittoproperlyinstallallfiles.Todothis,do
NOTjustdoubleclicktheinstallationprogramfile,insteadRIGHT
CLICKonthefileiconandselectRunasAdministratorunderthe
dropdownmenuthatappears.
c. Administratorstakenote:Iftheprogramistoberunbynon
administratorusersinanyOS,thenyouwillneedtoenablewriteaccess
forallusersonthefolderthatcontainstheProgramname.exefile.The
programmustwritetextfilestothisfoldertorunproperly.

Acceptalldefaultchoices.Ifitsaysthatitistryingtoinstallanolderversion
ofafilethanisalreadyonyourcomputer,takethedefaultchoicewhichwill
betoNOToverwritealaterversionofthesamefile.

AftertheinstalliscompletetheprogramwillappearinyourSTARTmenu
underDesignofMachinery.
a. FortheprogramsDYNACAMandLINKAGES,justrunthemfromthe
Startmenu.
b. FortheprogramsENGINEandMATRIXinanyOSexceptVista,justrun
themfromthestartmenu.InVista,youfirstmustgototheProgram

Files\Program_Namefolder,openit,rightclickontheProgram_Name.exe
fileandchecktheboxesfromthedropdownmenuRunaswindowsXP
SP2andRunasAdministratortomakeitruninVista.

Runningthedemoversion:
SelecttheprogramfromthestartmenuanditwillruninDemomode.Whentheprogram
runs,itwilldisplayadialogboxwiththenumberofrunsanddaysleftinyour
demonstrationlicense.Youwillhave10demorunsthatcanbeusedanytimewithina30
dayperiodthatbeginswhenyoufirstinstalltheprogram.Aftereitheroftheselimitsis
exceeded,anyfurtherattempttoruntheprogramwillbringupascreen(shownbelow)
thatrequiresanauthorizationcodeforfurtheruse.

clickingonthePrintOrderingInformationbuttoninthecenterofthehomescreenwhen

Purchasingandactivatingtheprogram:

Ifyoudecidethatyouwishtopurchasetheprogram,arrangepaymentviaPaypal,
companypurchaseorder,orwiretransferasappropriate.ClickontheLicenseitNow
buttontogettheAuthorizationScreenasshownbelow.
Notethatthelicenseislimitedtotheparticularcomputeronwhichitisinstalled,sobe
suretoinstallitonthemachineyouwanttousefortheprogram.Youcanlatertransfer
thelicensetoanyothercomputeratanytime.
WhenyouclickonLicenseitNow,orafterthedemoshavebeenusedup,an
authorizationscreenwillappearthatlooksliketheoneshownbelow.
GeneratingandFillingOutaLicenseFile:
UsethebuttonatthelowerleftoftheAuthorizationScreen(shownbelow),labeled
CreateLicenseFiletogenerateaWordcompatibletextfilethatwillcontainthe
LicenseCodenumberandplacesforyoutofilloutyourcompanyorpersonal
identificationinformation.ThisfilewillbenamedProgramname.txt(e.g.,
Dynacam.txtfortheDynacamprogram).

OpenthisfileinanywordprocessorandFILLOUTyourname,companyname,and
addressinformation.Emailthisfiletonorton@designofmachinery.com.Oncethis

FILLEDOUTfileandyourpaymentorvalidpurchaseorderisreceived,wewillemail
youanUnlockCodetopasteintotheabovescreentoenabletheprogram.
NOTE:Itisessential(ANDREQUIRED)thatyousendtheLicenseCodetousin
themannerdetailedabove(i.e.,encapsulatedintotheProgramname.doclicensefile)
becausewewillthencopyandpastethecodenumberintooursoftwaretogenerate
theUnlockCode.
NOTEALSOthatitisessentialthatyou,inturn,copyandpastetheUnlockcode
thatwewillsendyouintotheAuthorizationScreeninordertoavoidtypos.Itistoo
easytoconfuseonesandIsandalsozerosandOs.Pleasecopyandpastetoavoid
havingtodothisentireexercisemorethanonce.Bewarnedthatifyoumistypethe
authorizationcode3times,itwillassumethatyouaretryingtobreakinandwillthen
generateanentirelynewLicenseCode.Thiswillrequirethatwestarttheregistration
processoverfromscratch.Thiscanlosedays,evenweeksingettingyouupandrunning.
InSummary:DONOTtypetheLicensecodefromyourscreenintoanemailtous.
InsteadgenerateANDFILLOUTtheProgram_name.docfilethatencapsulatesthe
codenumbers.Then,whenwesendyoutheunlockcode,pleasecopyandpasteit
intotheauthorizationscreentoavoidtypos.
BackingUptheLicenseFiles:
Itisimportantthatyoubackup(copy)thefourlicensefilesasinstructedbythe
installationprogram.Asstatedinthoseinstructionsthefourfilesnotedmustbecopiedto
asafelocationONLYAFTERSHUTTINGDOWNTHEPROGRAM!Iftheprogramis
runningwhenyoucopythefiles,theywillnotwork.
Thefileslocationsareshownintheinstructions.Copythemandsavethemtoafolder
onanothercomputeroronremovablemediasuchasamemorystick.Theyaresmalltext
filesandsonotrequiremuchmemory.Ifthecomputercrashesandmustbereformatted,
youcanrevivethelicensebypastingthesefilesbackintothefolderwiththeprogram
whentheprogramisNOTRUNNING.Aslongasnohardwaresuchasadiskdrivewas
changedafterthecrash,theywillrevivethelicense.
Itisalsoagoodideatoalsoplacecopiesofthesefilesinaseparatefolderonthehard
driveofthecomputerwheretheprogramresides.Ifthelicenselocksupandthe
computerdoesnotneedreformatting,youcanreplacethemfromthisarchiveaswell.
TerminalServerInstallations:
Ifyouinstalltheprogramtoaterminalserver,youmustnotifyusatthetimeoflicensing,
asthelicenseconfigurationwillneedtobedifferent.Alsobeawarethatifanyusers
terminatetheirremotedesktopsessionWITHOUTFIRSTDOINGANORMALEXIT

fromtheprogram,itwillleavethemloggedintothelicensefilesasauser.Whenthe
numberofloggedusersexceedsthelicensednumberofusers,theprogramwillrefuseto
run,asitwillthinktherearestillusersloggedin.Inthiscase,thecureistoreplacethe
licensefilesfromthebackupcopiesastheywillhavezerousersloggedin(providedthat
yousavedthemwiththeprogramnotrunning!)
