Conversaciones informales en espaol con gente hispanohablante


1: CONVERSATION TASKS > Due on or before > el 30 de mayo, 2012 (mircoles)
TAREA: It is your task to interact/converse with a native Spanish speaker on 3 different occasions for 15+ minutes to
practice your speaking skills in an informal setting. Your goal is: > to initiate, maintain, and close a conversation
on a familiar topic. > to formulate questions to seek clarification or additional information.

interpretar e interactuar con un nativohablante. Es recomendable que lo hagas tan frecuente como sea posible

may already even know someone who is a native Spanish speaker; a family member, a friend outside of SW, one of
your parents friends or colleagues, your boss, a co-worker, a native speaking teacher past or present. A classmate?
At SW there are several students from Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Peru, and Nicaragua. The SW Latino

Tu: > When you meet with a native speaker greet your partner with the appropriate salutation for the time of day. (If
you are meeting the person for the first time make sure you introduce yourself and greet them appropriately. - Usted
versus t. OJO: If you dont know whether you should address your conversation partner formally or informally, start
by using Usted. Your partner will probably tell that you can tutear with them.)
> Explain that you have an assignment to practice speaking Spanish with a native Spanish speaker.
> If you dont know it ask your conversation partner their name including both their apellidos. (Remember that most
Spanish speakers have 2 last names > from their father and mothers sides).
>Find out which Spanish speaking country they are from. And which city!
> DURING and AFTER the conversation Take some notes on your partners responses. Have a small note pad
ready to record a list of the expressions/new vocabulary and any cultural notes that you learn from your native
Spanish-speaking partner.

After the conversationTell your partner Thank you! for practicing with you.
OJO: Have fun using your language skills with a native speaker. Remember to record vocabulary that you learn and any
cultural notes. Ask your partner questions. Ask your partner for help when you need it. Try to use circumlocution to
describe what you are trying to say. Speak in Spanish!
2: REGISTRO de CONVERSACIONES > Fill out the conversation log provided by La Maestra Hibbert. Be sure to
include comments about your experience > Express your opinions using the subjunctive mood! Record the
vocabulary that you learn from your native speaking partner. And provide details about the native speaker.
3: SELF-EVALUATIONS > After your conversationtake a minute to think about the experience and then fill out the
self-evaluation assessments and turn them in WITH your CONVERSATION EXPERIENCE LOG.
