Treatment

PRODUCTION - We will be making a two-minute opening sequence

of a thriller film, it will primarily be advertised on
YouTube. To reach our target market on YouTube we will be
advertising before videos that are associated with a thriller,
[e.g. a thriller trailer/production].
GENRE The genre of our production will be thriller, however
it will also create the theme of mystery due to the plot twist
at the end.
DURATION The duration of the film is required to be 2
minutes, being a thriller, it is hard to fit all of the
conventions of a thriller in 2 minutes, therefore we must only
fit a few but perform them well to ensure we keep the audience
engaged.
TARGET AUDIENCE - Our target audience is the ages 15 - 30;
this is because these ages are likely to go out to the cinema
as they have enough free time to do so. They are also old
enough to have some disposable income, which is enough for the
film; they are also old enough to handle a thriller film as
anyone younger may be caused distress from the production.
OUTLINE The production starts with a woman walking down the
stairs of her house, and then she picks up her scarf and exits
the house. After exiting she unlocks her cars and gets in, she
hears a loud bang and gets out of the car and looks left and
right. She then analyses the car to see if something damaged
it, after seeing nothing she opens the boot of the car and
someone is in it, she looks in, surprised, the says I thought
I told you to shut up!
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Kathy - Female aged 39, she is the antagonist of the
production, going against the stereotypes, thus creating a
surprising plot twist.
Sarah Female aged 15, is the victim of the production, this
person is going to look like a typical victim [e.g. not
physically strong]

VISUAL ELEMENTS

Lighting The lighting in our production will be relatively

low to fit our genre of a thriller and promote the mystery of
the production. However we must make sure that there is enough
light to see the characters, this means we need to film before
the Sun goes down as we will be filming outside.
Camerawork A variety of shots will be used such as a POV
[point of view] shot; this would be used to allow the audience
engage with the film more as they see from the antagonists
perspective. More shots will be used to ensure the audience is
constantly engaged with.
Editing to edit the production we will be using final cut
pro, during the process lighting will be altered if needed as
it gets dark quickly and it may be hard to film everything
with the preferred lighting.
Setting The setting of the production will be on a street,
within this setting we will be using the inside of a house,
the driveway and a car.
Props Props that will be used during the production include
a scarf, a sun visor, make up and a car. The car is the most
important prop in the production as this is where most of the
production will be filmed.
AUDIO ELEMENTS
Music we are going to used non-diegetic score music in the
background of our production to enhance and build suspension
throughout.
Effects - Effects will be added during the edit process such
as a diegetic bang and the sound of a car being unlocked.
INSTITUTIONS our company name is called Dream Light
Productions this suggests that the production process will be
good and therefore a good production. Our film will be
distributed on Sky Horror; this may be beneficial as it means
the film is likely to meet our niche target market due to the
channel it is being broadcasted on. Because our target
audience falls under the socio economic groups of C1 C2, D &
E, it will be aired at about 9pm, as this is prime time
television and it increases our chances of reaching our target
market successfully. Because its going to be aired at 9pm it
also means that the majority of our socio economic group will
