Title: Development Associate


Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Full-time 40 hrs./week. .
Benefits & Salary: $38,500 to $42,000 Salary negotiable. Benefits for full-time
salaried staff include partial health insurance coverage, paid holiday and vacation time.

GALA Theatre is the National Center for Latino Performing Arts in the nations capital, fostering an
understanding and appreciation of Latino arts and culture by a large and diverse public. By developing,
producing and presenting works that explore the breadth of Latino performing arts, GALA provides
opportunities for the Latino artist, educates youth, and engages the entire community in an exchange of ideas
and perspectives.

Job Summary: The Development Associate provides support to the Executive Director
as well as other Senior Staff members and the Board Development Committee in
cultivating foundation, corporate, individual and government donors and prospects, and
tracking and reporting all contributed income.

Duties and Responsibilities:


1. In consultation with the Executive Director and Associate Producing Director, the
Development Associate will help develop a fundraising strategy for the organization
that includes an individual donor program and foundation and corporate support for
artistic and educational programming.
2. Prospect potential funders in the foundation and corporate sectors, and develop and
prepare proposals to expand the organization's funding base;
3. Prepare interim, expenditure, and final reports for government, foundation, and
corporate funders, including payment invoicing for government grants;
4. Oversee the maintenance of the donor database, reconcile donor data with
accounting records on a monthly basis, plan and execute biannual donor appeals,
and acknowledge all donors in a timely manner;
5. Provide support to senior staff and development committee in the planning,
tracking, and implementation of GALAs special annual fundraising event;

6. Provide staff support for the board of directors and assist in preparing materials for
board of directors and development committee meetings;
7. Support development and implementation of evaluation and data collection for all
education programs;
8. Maintain comprehensive and organized hard files of donor records and grant
agreements;
9. All other tasks as assigned;

Requirements:
A Bachelors Degree and at least two years of full-time experience in fundraising
and grant writing.
A working knowledge of local foundations and arts funders, as well as a familiarity
with the DC arts non-profit sector is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will have strong writing and verbal skills and a keen attention
to detail.
Excellent organizational skills, prioritization, and the ability to work independently
as well as in a team.
Spanish language knowledge and fluency is a plus though not required.
