On behalf of the President of the Association of Caribbean University, Research and

Institutional Libraries (ACURIL), Prof. Carmen M. Santos-Corrada, and the Local
Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to the ACURIL XL REPUBLICA
DOMINICA Conference, which will be held June 6 to 12, 2010, at the Hotel
Intercontinental V Centenario, in Santo Domingo.

¨Innovation and Information Impact in the Caribbean: Evidence-Based Practice of the

Library and Information Professional¨ is the Conference theme. It proposes an approach
which aims to transform the professional management of information in intelligent
organizations, using the best available evidence, together with a pragmatic perspective
developed through the library work. As designed by the President, the conference will
present prominent speakers and colleagues specialized in the field; and as expected, the
conference will include lectures, seminars, workshops, special interest group meetings
by information units, and meetings by subject area groups; poster presentations,
technology updates and visits to libraries and other information units.

This event is an excellent opportunity to share and experience on the best library
practices, get to know the latest advances in the field, interact with suppliers of
products and services information, to exchange ideas and establish professional links
with the various information specialists in the Caribbean region. The cultural and social
activities will offer a great opportunity to get to know and share the Dominican
Republic history and culture.
