Uses
The table below summarises which Nitoprime product
should be used in different situations. Where multiple
choices exist, final choice will then depend upon the cure
times required and site conditions such as ventilation.
Where H.C.A. preparation techniques are used, only
Nitoprime 30 or 31 is suitable as primer.

*Being water based, the cure time for Nitoprime 32

depends greatly upon humidity conditions and ventilation.

Description

Ventilation

For flooring work with the Nitoflor resin flooring range,

three Nitoprime primers are recommended, depending on
site conditions. They are Nitoprime 30, 31 and 32. These
primers are also recommended for some coating systems.

Adequate ventilation should be provided with all Nitoprime

Primes. Nitoprime 32 relies upon water loss. If only poor
ventilation is possible use Nitoprime 30 or 31.
Application Instructions

Nitoprime 30 is a two part solvent free, fast curing

epoxy based primer. Particularly suitable for cold
weather conditions where the work need to be finish
faster.

Substrate preparation
Adequate mechanical preparation of the substrate is vital
before any priming takes place.

Nitoprime 31 is a two-part solvent free, general

purpose epoxy based primer. Particularly suitable for
normal weather conditions allowing sufficient time to
finish the flooring/coating application.

Mixing

Nitoprime 32 is a two-part water borne, solvent free

epoxy based primer. Particularly suitable for hot
weather and high wind blow conditions.

All primers are supplied as two component systems in

premeasured packs. Empty the content of small pack
component into the large component pack and mix for 2
3 minutes using a slow speed electric drill and mixing
paddle, until uniform consistency is achieved. Do not mix
part packs.

All the above primers are designed for roller or brush

application to concrete substrates. The choice of primer
will depend on substrate condition, site restrains and the
Nitoflor products being used.

Application

Temperature

All primers should be applied by brush or short haired

quality wool roller. When applying by roller use suitable
roller tray to avoid primer ponding on the floor and to
reduce exotherm effects which will shorten the pot lives.

All Nitoprime primes should be applied at temperatures of

5oC or above. If low curing temperatures are expected
Nitoprime 30 should be used to allow application of the
respective Fosroc products within an acceptable time
scale. Note that Nitoprime 32 should be applied at
temperatures above the dew point.

The primer should be applied evenly across the surface

avoiding thick layers which could result in air or water
entrapment with Nitoprime 32.

Nitoprime Primers
All Nitoflor FC and SL systems, Antistatic and Nitocote EP
range, allow the primer to dry completely before applying
the flooring/coating product.

Storage

Nitoflor TF5000/10000, Cicol ET Slurry and Nitomortar HB

and S should be applied whilst primer is tacky.

Package and coverage

Shelf life of 12 months if stored below 25oC.

Approximate coverage

Any porous or absorbed areas are still showing after primer

application, should be re-primed.

Nitoprime 32:

Tools and equipment should be cleaned with Fosroc

Solvent 102 immediately after use. Nitoprime 32 may be
cleaned with water.

Technical support

Some people are sensitive to epoxy resins so gloves and a

barrier cream, Kerodex 71, Rozalex 9, Debba-Wet work or
similar, should be used when handling these products. If
contact with the resin occurs, it must be removed, before it
hardens, with resin removing cream such as Kerocleanse
22, and Rozalex 42 follow by washing with soap and water.
Do not use Solvent.

Fire
Nitoprime 32 is non-flammable whereas Nitoprime 30, 31
and Fosroc Solvent 102 are flammable. Ensure adequate
ventilation when using primers and solvents. Do not smoke
during use and do not use in the vicinity of naked flames.
