BATTERY OPERATED COAL COOKING MACHINE

ABSTRACT
The projectwas started in support of the principle design developed Program for
Biomass Energy Conservation. The project falls under the broad area of design for social

briefly describes the research method and the design process used to develop the battery

INTRODUCTION
Residential cooking stoves and ovens are used by households for cooking and baking
food. Cooking is the most universal residential energy service with very low costs and high
net benefits. Switching to energy-efficient and low-carbon modern cooking appliances may
allow even higher savings but at higher costs. A broadrange of different technologies and
designs are used for cooking in the world today. Whilst the mostbasic way of cooking or
heating food - above an open fire fuelled by biomass - is still predominant inmany
developing countries, in industrialized countries sophisticated stoves or cookers prevail,
which overleaf presentsthe calculated shares of different fuels in the total worldwide fuel
consumption for cooking, reflectingnot only numbers of households using the different fuels
but also the different energy efficiency ofcooking with these fuels. It works on the principle of
shunt motor in which have 9v battery is connected with wire and it rotate the rotor . The
blade of rotor rotate and it air in combustion chamber and burn the coal. To Improved electric
and gas cookers hobs and to the large variation of different stovedesigns and equipment, this
document focuses solely on the most common types of stoves, fuels andequipment. Among
others - microwaves, rice cookers, grills or different types of cookware influencingthe overall

biogas cook stove, may achieveadditional reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through
combining improved designs and fuelswitches.

CONSTRUCTION
ASH TRAY
The square cross- section ash tray andas an ash collection area designed to cover the entire
combustion chamber area, At the end of the operation and after consuming all the fuel, the
ash tray is pulled out from the stove using the handle for removing the ash and emptying it
from the tray. The design of the ash tray and its sealable engagement with the bottom of the
combustion chamber or the air flow chamber at the bottom of the combustion chamber is
such that no leakages can take place after positioning the ash tray in the stove. The interface
between the ash tray and the stove may be sealed using a linerThis provides that there is no
loss of power from It is important that air leakage through the ash tray does not take place.
The design is arranged in such a way as to prevent air leakageAn insulated handle is provided
to the ash tray to allow for easy and safe removal and unloading the ash.

GRATE
the position of the grate is adjustable in height with respect to the bottom of the combustion
chamber to accommodate fuel in the combustion chamber from the grate and up to the top
near to the top of the combustion chamber .Possible means for adjusting the height would
include, for example, telescopic legs or leg extensions and the like. The height of the grate
can also be varied by placing it on a stand in the bottom of the combustion chamber by
providing supports at different heights in the combustion chamber or other means that will be
apparent to a person skilled in the art.
The primary air flow supplied to the bottom of the combustion chamber moves through the
packed bed of fuel and increases the conversion of the solid fuel with increased air flow
through the bed. top of the combustion chamber With the fuel in the combustion chamber
extending up to the top or up to near the top of the combustion chamber combustion of the
gases produced in the combustion chamber in combination with the secondary air is efficient.
This can provide a stove with high efficiency and low undesirable emissions.

DC SHUNT MOTOR

A DC Shunt motor is any of a class of electrical machines that converts direct current electrical
power into mechanical power. The most common types rely on the forces produced by magnetic
fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical to
periodically change the direction of current flow in part of the motor. Most types produce rotary
motion; a linear motor directly produces force and motion in a straight line.
Advantages of a brushed DC motor include low initial cost, high reliability, and simple control of
motor speed. Disadvantages are high maintenance and low life-span for high intensity uses. It rotate
the rotor blade is connected to the motor shaft which rotate and supply air inside combustion
chamber.

9-V BATTERY

The 9-volt battery, in its most common form was introduced for the early transistor
radio. It has a rectangular prism shape with rounded edges and a polarized snap connector at the top.
This type is commonly used in pocket radios, paintball guns, and small electronic devices. They are
also used as backup power to keep the time in certain electronic clocks. This format is commonly
available in primary carbon-zinc and alkaline chemistry, in primary lithium iron disulfide, and in
rechargeable form in nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride and lithium-ion. Mercury oxide batteries
in this form have not been manufactured in many years due to their mercury content.
This battery we used for supplying power to the shunt motor through which rotor is rotate.

BUCKET
The bucket are provide for the making construction of the cooking machine. The bucket
are made up steel material that cylindrical shape.

WORKING

When a supply of power given with the help of battery to the dc shunt motor the motor
rotate and the blade is connected to the shaft of rotor the blade also moving. Due to the
rotation of blade the air is taken inside the combustion chamber. In combustion chamber the
fuel burn on the grate, and the ash will be form in combustion chamber drawn out manually
which provided the door .There needs to be gap around the edges of the burn area to allow a
specified amount of air to flow over the top of the coals. The ratio of air released between the
pot and the stove top should also be controlled And allow for a specific amount of air to
flow out. The working of the Battery operated coal cooking is simple.

ADVANTAGES
1. Best available technologies and saving potential the heating speed is quick
2. The best cooking economy obtained due to presence of shunt motor.
3. A reduced amount of charcoal used to effectively
Cooking meals.
5 .The complete combustion of the charcoal to increase the energy output and reduce Toxic
emissions.
6. The reduction of the amount of charcoal used to assist in slowing the rate of deforestation.
8.The stove should be able to burn lower grade charcoal to reduce the loss of tree.
9. The construction of cooking machine are simple.

DISADVANTAGES
1. The deforestation and erosion result occure due to cutting of wood require for the
burning.
2. The tree cutting license is required for all individuals involved in tree felling
activities, other than tree cutting on their own land.
3. The efficiency of battery operated cooking machine is less.
4. The ash form inside the combustion chamber create a problem to drawn out.
5. Cooking machine require a battery power to run.
