“The Package”
Thriller Genre, Length 2 minutes

John is a teenager dealing with college and trying
to raise money for his mum’s operation. He has a
job but knows it’s not enough to pay for it. He
stumbles upon a dying stranger who gives him a
package. It’s up to him to think whether to keep it
or hand it in.
Our target audience is fifteen and over. Teenagers
may relate to the protagonist. The gender more
likely to watch the film would be male based on
the action involved. On the socio-economic scale
my audience would be C1 to E.
We are due to film on the 15th February. Our
work would be published on our group Blog and
possibly on Youtube for more feedback.
In our planning and research we have looked at
thriller film. This was helpful as we could apply
the codes and conventions of a thriller to our own
work. It also told us what makes a successful
thriller piece.
The primary reason why research is needed in
making a film is to note what ingredients are
needed to make it successful thriller film.
The representations in my text represents my
male protagonist as victim being hunted down.
His character is not dominant one as male
protagonist are usually portrayed. These are
justified, as we are not trying to go with the
stereotype.
To see if the product is a successful we would
encourage our target audience to fill out our
questionnaires relating to the film to see their
views. From their feedback we would work on
our film whether it’s positive or negative.
The codes and conventions again we will
incorporate are thriller conventions. In my
sequence there is a intense chase where the
protagonist is running for his life.
The message that we would like to convey
through our film is whether money is more
important than life as our protagonist is putting
his life on the line for money.
Things that might affect my production may be
things like group members may be sick but we
have to work around that.
