Oil is a dirty word.

In light of petroleums perceived role in the global warming scare, the public
has been harsh in their admonition of the industry. The fact remains that the world is dependent on oil,
and will remain so for the foreseeable future. It is the mandate of the industry, then, to ensure that this
essential resource is produced and packaged in an ethical and sustainable way. The Eastern Connection
pipeline proposed by Conduit Industries meets these criteria. Conduit has made significant efforts to
ensure the social equitability and environmental sustainability of the endeavor, as well as appropriately
distributing its assets to establish continued economic viability. In these respects, it has distinguished
itself as well applied, appropriate technology.
As with any large scale project, the planned Eastern Connection will affect those in its presence.
Conduit, for its part, has contrived to ensure that any such interactions are beneficial to all parties.
Conduits interactions with the First Nations communities that the pipeline would intersect are
testament to this. The communities affected are promised a very reasonable 15% ownership in the
project for their cooperation, an act which Conduit believes would benefit both groups, as well as
employment opportunities. The pipeline would also serve to create Canadian jobs and business. An
estimated total of 900 jobs are reported to be opening for the construction and management of the
pipeline, of which many are reported by Conduit to be long term, promising a career for those
involved in its construction.
Crude oils deleterious effect on its surroundings if poorly managed is well noted. The effect the
Eastern Connection may have on its surroundings was thus taken into careful consideration. The pipes
path was chosen as the least consumptive, promising reduced use of resources in the long run and so
promising enhanced sustainability. Conduit has also contrived to minimize the possibility and potential
harm of a spill. The pipeline is to be equipped with sensitive instrumentation that serve to alert of any
pressure fluctuations in the pipeline which may indicate a rupture. These serve to complement the
advanced containment systems that are to be installed every 100km to minimize the effect of any
structural imperfection on the local ecosystem, and permitting easy and rapid repair of the affected
area. These precautions effectively eradicate the risk factor in the pipelines installation.
The viability of the Eastern Connection is unquestionable. Conduit Industries has plotted the most
direct and efficient path for the line, which serves to minimize long term costs and inefficient
application of resources. The existence of the line would also offer new trading prospects for Canada
and her industries, as the line would streamline transport of a key export to a relatively untapped
frontier; Asia. This serves to strengthen Canadas position on the global market. The stimulus
generated will also, as mentioned above, present many with long lasting career opportunities and so
distribute the wealth fairly and equitably. Conduits long history in the field also demonstrates it to be
capable, responsible and experienced, giving the project the management required for maximum
efficiency.
Fears in the the Eastern Connection are misplaced. Until our dependance on oil can be subjugated,
projects like Conduits guarantee that its collection and transportation is as efficient, profitable and
sustainable as possible. Conduits actions have made the pipeline nothing short of a boon.
