APPLICATIONS
The Amine Guard FS process can be tailored for either
bulk, selective, or trace acid gas removal for CO2 and
H2S. It is typically used in:
Synthesis gas treating for CO2 removal in synthesis gas plants, such as direct iron ore reduction
Synthesis gas treating for selective H2S removal
in integrated gasification combined cycle
(IGCC) plants
Natural gas treating for selective removal of H2S
and partial removal of CO2 for pipeline specifications
High CO2 partial pressure service for reduced
energy consumption compared with conventional
amines, such as steamed reformed ammonia
plants.
Design packages ranging from functional process specifications through a complete UOP Schedule A are
offered to support this technology. As with all our
processes, service is always readily available through
UOPs worldwide technical service organization.
FEEDSTOCK
AND
PRODUCTS
Acid gas partial pressure is the key driving force for the
Amine Guard FS process. Typical feed conditions range
between 150 and 1800 psia total pressure, with acid gas
compositions from 5% to 35% by volume. The product
specifications achievable depend on the application and
can be anywhere from ppmv levels of acid gas to a few
percent of CO2.
EXPERIENCE
The Amine Guard FS technology was introduced 19
years ago. As of January, 2000, over 400 units have
been put into commercial service.
