Rules and Regulations for Master of Science in Technology Project Evaluation

(Credit System)

Candidates have to do the project at least for 32 weeks(including the submission


of synopsis) to be eligible for submission
Student should have attended the classes for all subjects in Semester III & IV
with the minimum of 60% attendance in each subjects
Candidates have to clear all the subjects of First and Second semesters to be
eligible for Final Presentation.
Candidate should submit photocopy of third and fourth Semester mark sheet
at the time of Final report submission.
If a student has submitted his companys live project as university project and he
leaves the company during the project period,
1. He/she can continue the same project, if the previous company gives NOC
2. He/she has to do submit the new project synopsis to the university along
with next immediate batch
If a student has submitted his companys live project as university project and
seeking his project manager/lead as the guide and the guide leaves the company
during the project period,
1. Student can carry on with the same guide if the previous guide and
organization agrees.
2. Student can change the guide by taking NOC from the previous guide
Evaluation is carried out in two phases
1. Mid Term Evaluation: Candidate has to appear for mid term evaluation
between 4 5 months from the date of commencement of the project.
2. Students have to submit ONE hard copy of the report of about 20 pages
in a prescribed format at the time of evaluation duly signed by the guide.
At least two faculty will be present for the evaluation. The evaluation is
done for 100 marks under different headings (presentation, work done,
report, complexity and relevance). The average of the marks obtained by a
candidate will be treated as the internal assessment mark.
3. Final Presentation: Students can appear for final presentation after 32
weeks from the date of commencement of the project. There must be 2-3
months (approx) gap between mid term and final evaluations. Students
have to submit ONE hard copy of the report in the prescribed format and
soft copy in the CD form. The reports must be signed by the guide, and the
cordinator. The evaluation is done for 300 marks.

Evaluation of Project Work / Thesis


Postgraduate : A student is expected to work on the project for a minimum of 32
weeks during the second year of the course, in the respective industry. Candidate has

to appear for mid term evaluation between 4 to 6 months from the date of
commencement of the project.
The evaluation will be for 100 marks. The final evaluation and viva voce will be after
the completion of the project work and submission of dissertation / thesis. The final
evaluation and viva voce will be conducted by a jury consisting of guide, course
coordinator and the & external examiners appointed by MU.
The final evaluation will be out of 300 marks, the break of which is as follows:
Mid year evaluation

- 100 marks

Evaluation by internal examiners

- 100 marks

Evaluation by external examiners

- 100 marks

Viva voce

- 100 marks

Total marks for the project - 400 marks


-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Grade awarded to the student will be on the basis of the total marks obtained by
him / her out of 400.
Calculation of GPA / CGPA for the second year of post graduation will be done only after
the final evaluation of the project work and dissertation. There will be no calculation of
GPA / CGPA after the mid term evaluation.
