African Travel Seminars' operating goal is to provide quality,
experiential learning travel opportunities that respect and sustain
the indigenous cultures and local environment, as well as to provide
positive, cross-cultural interactions with Africans in mutually
beneficial ways. We strive to practice responsible tourism on each
and every tour, and even provide opportunities for participants to be

Who We Are
African Travel Seminars, Inc., founded in 1996, is a small company that custom-designs
study tours and safaris to African destinations. Georgina Afua Lorencz, founder and
president of African Travel Seminars is a U.S. citizen, originally from Ghana, West Africa.

Ms. Lorencz earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Minnesota.
Following that, she acquired over 12 years experience in international education at the
university level; first at the University of Minnesota working with international students,
and then directing international programs at Hamline University for eight years before
founding African Travel Seminars, Inc.. Ms. Lorencz has taught and led groups of university
students to Ghana, Senegal, The Gambia and Kenya for study and/or research. Additionally,
she has led adults on study tours and designed tours for various groups. African Travel
Seminars works with a network of local organizations in African countries to customdesign programs for groups of various sizes.

What We Provide Clients


We work with you to assess your needs, interests, and budget and then we provide a
program that meets those needs. Our services include planning an itinerary, site visits,
performances, and informational meetings with local leaders. We arrange air travel from
the United States, ground travel in Africa, and provide trained English speaking guides and
lecturers. Meals, accommodation, visa application processing, pre-departure orientation,
and lots of opportunities for involvement in on-going development projects in villages are
also a part of our package.

Where We Go In Africa
African Travel Seminars operates programs only in Africa. Some of our destinations are:
Ghana, Senegal, The Gambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Mali
and Burkina Faso. We add new destinations every year.
