GENERAL:
In our investigation regarding E075 issues, Canon USA has found troubleshooting steps to help improve
E075 occurrences. This Technical Publication details troubleshooting steps to ensure the performance of
the ITB Assembly when addressing the issue of a full displacement of the Intermediate Transfer Belt
(E075).
Canon USA has been supplying either a full ITB Core Assembly, free of charge (without an ITB Belt), or
an ITB improvement kit to purchase. Depending on what type of an ITB Assembly is installed in the
machine, old style or a new style will dictate the delivery of an ITB Assembly or a purchase of an ITB
improvement kit. Also, the LOT number [A] or serial number of the machine will determine which item is
needed. Please refer to the LOT number chart and serial number chart below and on the next page to
understand the type of ITB assembly that is installed in your machine.

DETAILS:
An E075 can occur when replacing the Intermediate Transfer Belt in the field, or while the machine is in use
by the customer. Checking the values under COPIER > DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS indicates the
position of the ITB belt. If the value is outside the range of -350 to +350, an imbalance of displacement to
the ITB belt may occur. If this occurs an E075 error code will occur.
SERVICING PROCEDURE:
There are two ways to address an E075 issue in the field. The charts below distinguish what ITB
Assemblies need either a new style ITB Assembly or the ITB improvement kit, FM4-8409-000. Please
refer to the ITB improvement kit instructions attached to this technical publication named FM4-8409-000

NOTE:
Regarding accounts with multiple machines, it has been brought to our attention that
ITB Assemblies are sometimes switched from machine to machine. It is very important
to pay special attention to the LOT numbers to ensure that the ITB Assembly in the
machine matches the LOT numbers in this Technical Publication.
NOTE:
When installing the ITB improvement kit (FM4-8409-000) into the ITB Assembly,
there are some steps where Super Lube (FY9-6005-000) is needed, so please order
Super Lube prior to installing the ITB Improvement Kit.

Three Points to note when installing the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) on the ITB Assembly:
Ensure that the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) is inserted inside of the Belt Guide, FL3-4847-000. If
it is not, re-insert the ITB inside of the Belt Guide. [Pic 1]
Verify that service mode under level 2 COPIER > OPTION > IMG-TR > ITB-TYPE is set to 2.
Validate that the machine is on an even surface. An uneven surfaces will cause an E075.

In a small percentage of occurrences, there is still a possibility that an E075 will reoccur after an ITB
Assembly replacement and ITB Kit replacement. This could be related to a couple of scenarios:
1. If a new ITB Assembly was sent via e-Support or from Engineering and an E075 is still occurring,
please ensure that the ITB has not been damaged during shipping. Check the Rear Transfer Arm (FL35416-000) on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5200 Series and Rear Transfer Arm (FC0-5024-010 )
on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5000 Series for cracks which is sometimes very hard to identify,
see below. Replace the Rear Transfer Arm and perform COPIER > DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS at
least three times and ensure the number is within range and consistent.

Physically remove the

Rear Transfer Arm from
the ITB Assembly and
inspect it for a crack.

2. In this situation, if the ITB-POS values are out of range, AND the ITB Assembly is not able to slide into
the main body smoothly, adjust the plate below in the up or down direction. In this scenario, the screw
[A] has red paint on it and we recommend in this situation only to adjust this screw. Perform COPIER >
DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS at least three times and ensure the number is within range and is
consistent.

3. Check for a flat spot on the Slide Roller; replace the Slide Roller with FC0-5027-000.

NOTE:
In the next steps, achieving a value that is within the targets specified may minimize the
occurrence of an E075 error code. If the engine is mounted on a Cabinet Type-B which has
no levelers, the adjustment procedure cannot be performed, please go to step 3.

4. When the values are out of range use the following procedure to achieve the targeted values. The
directions state to initially turn the adjuster two rotations (more rotations could be performed to achieve
the desired range). A maximum of four rotations could be achieved.
ITB POS is -350 or Less

Rotate the Right Front adjuster clockwise two rotations. Run COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-P >
ITB-INIT, Then check the value of COPIER > DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS. If the value achieves the
range noted, test the machine by making copies, turn the machine OFF/ON, and then execute COPIER
> FUNCTION > MISC-P > ITB-INIT. Execute ITB-INIT two more times. If the values stay the same
or within the range, the process is completed. Achieving a value that is as close to zero is ideal to
minimizing an E075 error code, but if it cannot be achieved ensure the values are within range and then
perform three ITB-INITS and make sure that the ITB-POS value is stable.

ITB POS is 350 or More

Rotate the Left Front adjuster clockwise two rotations. Run COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-P > ITBINIT. Then check the value of COPIER > DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS. If the value achieves the
range noted, test the machine by making some copies, turn the machine OFF/ON, then execute COPIER
5. Please refer to the following procedure if a Cabinet Type B is used or if the procedure in step 4 was not
successful. In addition; if Step 2 in this technical publication was performed and the ITB-POS is still
out of range this procedure will assist in achieving an ITB-POS that is within range.

Distribution Information:
To obtain a free of charge ITB Core assembly, go to the Canon e-Support Web Site
(www.support.cusa.canon.com); click Warranty / Product Advisories / imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5000
series ITB Request Program. This form will automatically verify your engine serial number. Further
information on this program is detailed in the Dealer Letter for the ITB Assembly dated November 1, 2012. If
the system verifies that an ITB Improvement Kit is needed order the part from your parts department. There
are two ways to order an ITB Assembly, Overnight or Ground depending on the criticality of the customer,
Ground is the default selection. If you are still encountering ITB issues after ordering an ITB Assembly via eSupport, or are calling the Technical Support Center for additional help, please ensure you have tried all the
steps in this Technical Publication before doing so.
