Graduate Research Assistant
➢ Designed fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite crosstie for Federal Railway Administration
(FRA)
➢ Manufactured crossties with recycled ABS reinforced with E-glass fibers as shell and used-wood-tie as
core
➢ Composite mechanical characterization by bending test, compression test, tension test as per ASTM
➢ Involved in the aging study of recycled thermoplastic FRP composites
➢ Performed static and fatigue tests in laboratory to evaluate the structural performance of compression
molded crossties
➢ Installed 7 ties in field and conducted periodic testing for long-term performance
➢ Involved in the literature review on the performance of the FRP composite crossties
➢ Conducted bending test on the Timber beams by using data acquisition to acquire strains and
deflections in the School Building.
➢ Manufactured the Mold for preparing the recycled thermoplastic railroad crossties
➢ Experience using Instron UTM, strain gage installation, testing using data acquisition, strain smart
