Duties and responsibilities:
• Carried out all interface management with retail Outlets
• Harmonized the objectives and activities of retailers with other support functions e.g. Lubricants, Distribution and Suppliers,
and maximize integrated site profitability and performance.
• Provided site level input into the regional business plan; established a business plan for each site and for the overall
business in the area and delivered the agreed targets for the group of sites (sales, margin, costs, etc.)
• Managed the contract in place between the Company and retailers and ensured retailers’ compliance at all times.
• Developed retailers and continually evaluated their competencies by organizing on the job and other relevant trainings and
courses.
• Ensured the implementation of the Retail Customer Value Proposition (RCVP), maintained market awareness, e.g., trends,
competitor activities and initiatives and integrated marketing and planning activities. Implemented on-site promotions.
• Ensured that the government’s and the company’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies, standards and
procedures are strictly adhered to and ensured that the operation at each outlet did not cause any injury to people/property
in any form.
• Managed trade debt at site level, assessed the credit worthiness of all retailers and assured site-by-site compliance on
defined plans and controls for credit, guarantees and contracts to minimize the company’s exposure to financial risks.
• Identified changes needed in the layout of installations & coordinated with Engineering. Promoted and ensured HSSE
(Health, Safety, Security and Environment) standards compliance at each site.
Extras & Projects
• Monitored leakage status of 400 fuel tanks on monthly basis in collaboration with a leakage monitoring institution in the
Philippines.
• Developed and periodically updated a business continuity plan for Shell Ethiopia Limited
• Developed and periodically updated a salary research document for the Shell Workers Union
• Served as a vice Chairman of a housing cooperative in which I have been involved in managing the construction
process of 12 housing units
• Participated in fund raising walk for disabled children – Chesire Walk (2004-2008)
