(Collings and Mellahi, 2009: 304).

Discuss this statement. In your answer you should define and outline the key elements of
Talent Management while also considering the extent to which it offers novel insights
into employee resourcing.

Despite the fact that human resource planning is frequently presented as an essential
foundation to effective recruitment and selection, it does not always appear to be given
high priority in practice (Kispal-Vitai and Wood, 2009: 185)

Critically assess the utility of Human Resource Planning in facilitating effective


recruitment and selection.
Question 3
The use of the interview as a method of selection has been widely criticised. Nevertheless,
the interview remains the most common selection method deployed byJirms (Schmitt and
Kim, 2008).

Critically evaluate the value of the interview as a selection tool. In your answer you
should consider steps that could be taken to improve the effectiveness of the selection
interview.

"Effective employment resourcing includes not only the acquisition of the appropriate
quantily and quality ofpeople, but also the management of employees to ensure that
performance is constantly reviewed and suficient to achieve organisational objectives
(Corbridge and Pilbeam, 2006)

Discuss this statement. In your answer refer to the benefits and disadvantages of
performance appraisals.
