ART DIRECTOR
Im sure most of us have heard of the international organization, Habitat for Humanity, whose dedicated and selfless volunteers have, for over 30 years, tirelessly donated their time and
labor to build more than 200,000 much-needed homes to house
more than 1,000,000 people in 3,000 communities worldwide. I
am truly delighted to share with you that last summer, our small
town of Berne, Ind., in a partnership between our local county
affiliate for Habitat for Humanity and DRG Publishing, was
privileged to participate in a Habitat for Humanity house project for a local family with four children. In our article on page 42, youll meet the Steens
and read how despair turned into a miracle for this deserving family.
Berne is also the home of Dynamic Resource Group, publishers of Crochet! and
numerous other special-interest magazines, books, kits and continuities. Crochet!
magazine was delighted to be able to give one of our previously published afghan
designs, Sunshine Lace, that was featured in the May 2004 issue, to the Steens as a
gift for their new house. We hope it will bring a bright ray of sunshine to their home!
Warm regards,
Brenda Gallmeyer

A treasure
of a box
I just wanted
you to know that
your pattern for
the Mini Jewelry
Box in the May
2006 issue of Crochet! will be a Treasure
Box for our churchs upcoming Womens
Ministry Retreat Day. I am making 25
boxes so each participant can have one.
I have never crocheted anything this
small, and Im having a great time learning how to work with crochet thread as
opposed to worsted weight yarn! I would
like to see more items like this. Thanks
for the inspiration!
