Main skills in writing
Punctuation marks are always used according to the meaning you want to convey.
D. Colon (:)
The commonest function is to introduce a specification and Quotations.
Eg:- a) the urisis was pask, the are favorable S.N. Adams
H. Apostrophe:- (‘)
i) It’s used to show possession
ii) for plural nouns ending in ‘s’ and after the S’
Eg: A-F-F-E-C-7.
K. Parenthesis ( ) and Brackets [ ]
Parenthesis is used to separate a word or construction that may or may not be
grammatically related to the rest
Eg: i) Even those who do their words any where (like journalists)
ii) This area [ he said laughingly] is not bad.
L. Ellipsis:- ( …)
It is a series of 3 or 4 dots it’s never 5 or 6. It implies that something has been left out and
is usually used in quotations
M. Diacritics
Diacritics is special mark placed above, below or through a letter to show special
pronunciation that the sound of a letter gives.
N. Underlining
It is used to represent what would in print be in italics like titles of books, files ,
paintings poems, songs and plays.
O. Using capitals:-
The first and last words of literacy titles should be capitalized as all words in between
except articles, prepositions and conjunctions
Conclusion :- These are all the punctuation marks which helps us to make our listing a
perfect thing
