The simple past have several uses, as the Completed Action in the Past,
Series of Completed Actions, Duration in the Past, Habits in the Past, Past
Facts or Generalizations, the First Clause, Adverb Placement and
Active/Passive.
I will show you examples of every one, but Im gonna tell you about
Completed Action and Duration in the Past.
Completed Action:
We use the Simple Past to express the idea that and an action started
and finished at a specific time in the past. Sometimes, the speaker may
not actually mention the specific time, but they do have one specific
time in mind. Examples:
I didnt care.
It didnt mean anything to me.
Why didnt I enjoy it more.
Did she feel the same as me?
People paid much more to make cell phone calls in the past.
Adverb Placement
Examples:
You just called Debbie.
Did you just call Debbie?
Active/Passive
Examples:
Tom repaired the car. ACTIVE
The car was repaired by Tom. PASSIVE
