t is recorded that Hazrat Abi bin Kaab [Radi Allaahu anhu] inquired

from Prophet Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaiehi Wa Sallam] as to how much

time should he dedicate for reading Durood Shareef. He replied, "As
much as you wish". He then asked, "Should I not dedicate a quarter of
my time?" Saiyyidinah Rasool ul laah
[Sallal Laahu Alaiehi Wa Sallam] replied,

"As you wish, if you increase the recitation it would be better for
you". He further asked, "O Master! If it is better, should I not
dedicate half my time?" He replied, "As you wish. If you increase it
though, it would be better for you".

Hazrat Abi bin Kaab (Radi Allaahu Anhu) then

remarked, "O Master! Should I not, therefore, dedicate my
entire time in the recital of the Durood?" To this Prophet
Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaiehi Wa Sallam] replied, "If
you do this, then all your obligations will be fulfilled and all
your sins will be forgiven!" (Mishkaat Shareef)
From the above Hadees, we clearly realize the excellence
of reading the Durood Shareef as much as possible. O
Almighty Allaah Kareem! Grant us the strength to increase
the recital of the Durood Shareef. Aameen.

urood Shareef is such a prayer (Zikr) that may

be recited any time. There is no specification as to

number, time, day or night, before or after prayer,
place, sitting or standing position; Durood Shareef
can be recited anywhere anytime. However, there
are some places and times as given below when
recitation of Durood Shareef is preferable:

and while kissing Hajr-e-Aswad it is

uring visit to Riaaz ul Jannah and place of

Ashaab e Sufaa, Durood Shareef should be recited.

has great value as Holy Prophet Muhammad was born

on this day.

in the month of the Ramaadan has

great value.

Baraat, Durood Shareef

should be abundantly recited
